The writing is absolutely superb. There are no good guys or bad guys. Like Martin said, all of the characters are grey, and that makes it real. Another great thing about the writing is when Daniel-san's( I will always call him that) wife pokes fun at the fact that all of this is stemming from a 35 year old Karate beef. It's ridiculous and unrealistic, and the writers know that. They find a way to make light of it, and then make it believable. Amazing stuff! Can't wait for season 3.

The Karate Kid was a very influential movie for me as a kid. It was one of the factors that led me into taking up judo in my teens. I later ended up winning a lot of statewide (California) and national tournaments. In a way, I had my own Karate Kid experience that was similar to the movie. I had my rivals, my falls, my sensei, and my big tournament wins. This series is such a trip for me because it parallels many of my own thoughts and experiences between the 80's and now. How much different the new generation of kids are. How even though the times have changed so much, there is always a desire to learn to fight. Seeing these actors from the original movie come together like this is something I thought I could only dream up. Even without the nostalgia, this series is amazing. It really makes you think about what actually makes someone a good guy or a bad guy. As they say in the interview, it's not just black and white.

I watched karate kid when I was a little girl ... now I’m watching it with my kids it is amazing and they love the show it is a really wonderful bonding experience.. I can’t wait for season 3 ,,
Just binged season 1 and the writing is A+. Thoroughly enjoyed this series. Mega fans like me picked up on all the Easter eggs. That part where Daniel claps his hands... LMAO!!!
I enjoyed the Karate Kid when it came out, wasnt a fanatic about it but it was good. Cobra Kai is the show i never knew i wanted to see. Came out of nowhere and it kicks butt! I am enjoying it immensely, the nostalgia of seeing these characters together again just makes it that much better.
Maybe Robby get so messed up in the head with guilt about what happened to Miguel that Daniel ends up taking him to Okinawa with him...kinda like how Daniel made the trip with Miyagi?
I am glad that you actually quoted the correct time period. 35 years is true and technically it's 36 but majority of the anchors call it 3 decades or 30 years. There is a legacy behind Karate Kid, please be cautious before speaking vague numbers. Karate kid was a rage in 80's and it was loved and adored by all. Just because of that once in a lifetime classic we are here watching Cobra Kai, please give more respect. Go boys, go for glory!

If Terry Silver shows back up, I definitely think Johnny and Daniel will finally bury the hatchet. They've hinted enough times already that they're ready to be friends, to stop being "prejudiced" against each other.
That’s what I’m hoping for!!!
And Ali will Marry Johnny in the end of season 3.
I was just telling my kid that I could see them teaming up
I watched karate kid when I was a little girl ... now I’m watching it with my kids it is amazing and they love the show it is a really wonderful bonding experience.. I can’t wait for season 3 ,,
Season 3 releases on the 8th of January!!
Just binged season 1 and the writing is A+. Thoroughly enjoyed this series. Mega fans like me picked up on all the Easter eggs. That part where Daniel claps his hands... LMAO!!!
Tom Cruise and Ralph - dropping their Outsiders names. That was awesome. And I literally was like "Is that Tom Cruise? Does he still look that young?"
"This is a fake eye" - Martin Kove, 2019
I enjoyed the Karate Kid when it came out, wasnt a fanatic about it but it was good. Cobra Kai is the show i never knew i wanted to see. Came out of nowhere and it kicks butt! I am enjoying it immensely, the nostalgia of seeing these characters together again just makes it that much better.
Season 3, Robbie changes his looks[haircut] while he flees the country.
But doesn't actually flee the country just gets caught. Question is by the police? Daniel? Or Johnny?
I noticed the young man who plays Robbie didn't say much.
Steven David Cox good his hair was dumb
Maybe Robby get so messed up in the head with guilt about what happened to Miguel that Daniel ends up taking him to Okinawa with him...kinda like how Daniel made the trip with Miyagi?
My daughter is 27 and her and i love this show! Kudos gentlemen
I’m disappointed no one brought up The Outsiders once Tom walked into the room. Both he and Ralph came out together in that movie
Lol they did bring it up Tom said outsiders and called Ralph Johnny from the movie 😂😂
dude they did...who do u think Steve Randle is in the outsiders and then who do u think played Johny Cade in the outsiders..lol
It wasn't Tom Cruise.
TayannaStudios it was cuz Ralph said "Steve randell"
Tom has never come out and he would sue for just suggesting it.
Daniel was my high school crush but in old age I love Johnny yeah. I like this Johnny, life shook him and he has a second chance ... great.❤

It's crazy! Like 30-40 years later we get to see our childhood idols in sequels of movies we grew up on. We get to relive so much, it really helps keep us young.
I love this show so much I’m so hype for season 3
Season 3 releases on the 8th of January!
I enjoyed this show. No millions spent. No over acting. No complicating things. Just great acting directing and writing. Loved it.
@Leila Moon lol I don't care its the best thing ever
i love how they say the"ORIGINAL" movie
Everything from the old school cast, 80s references, the new actors and actresses, flashbacks, etc., this was well put together! I'm hooked!!!
Really nice how fast Mary speaks, but every time she does, William Zabka looks like he is thinking "you talk a lot".
I disagree on that one. Billy seems to be a bit nervous during interviews in general and he mostly looks at the person speaking at the moment. To me it seems like he was just listening and actively thinking about what she was saying.
Grew up watching the Karate Kid trilogy. Now my daughter watches Cobra Kai . Season 3 was awesome, I'm ready for season 4.
This show is more intricate than Game of Thrones. The amount of interweaving of all these stories is crazy.
More intricate than Game of Thrones, lol. Where you seated at the back of the short school bus? Again, listen to yourself, Cobra Kai more intricate than Game of Thrones, lol.
shut up lol
@@Galactusz007 Found another member of the tinydick committee everyone!!! Look!
This show is exactly what it needs to be!
I was half expecting the kids to say, "Oh yeah, we've watched the Karate Kid, Jackie Chan was in it"
I would have laughed so hard
Hahaha ha . . . Ha!
The Jackie chan version isn't as bad as people thought it was

Defeat does not exist in this dojo, does it?
Pain does not exist in this dojo, does it?
Jaden Smith does not exist in this dojo, does it?
U. S. B 👏🏼😂
You can tell they were all just beaming to get back involved, gotta love these guys
Martin Kove for some reason gives me the impression that he is in real life just like John Kreese is in the karate kid movie. Idk🤷♂️
Ralph and Billy(and Pat Morita several years back) all swear that Martin Kove is the quietest but nicest guy in real life. Stallone said so, too. They said that he just relishes getting to be such a Super-Evil Villain Scary guy on screen because he’s truly not that fellow in real life.
@@bigeric1030 good to know
He just looks scary as hell. And could still kick ass at his age.
Ralph Macchio is (almost) 60 years old ! Can I just say WOW !
8:32 Ralph's reaction to Xolo saying hes most comfortable with Billy and Marty is GOLD
he said "i filmed most of my stuff with billy and marty"... not comfortable
That is the most youngest 59 yr old i ever saw - ralph 'karate kid' macchio.btw,i was 9 in 1984 and been a fan for 35 yrs...time flies so fast
The greasers back together again. We’re gonna stomp them socias
John Moraites love this comment
Yeah! Let’s do it for Johnny!
No jazz before the rumble. You know the rules, apeface.
Stay Gold Ponyboy....Stay Gold!
"You get tough like me and you don't get hurt..You look out for yourself and nothing can touch you." Dallas Winston
Ralph, William and Martin are seriously aging gracefully. Its hard to believe that Martin is 70
I started watching mostly for the nostalgia of the 80s, I liked Karate Kid but was not a super fan. I have to say, this new version is beautifully done! I really, really like it!
