its produced by Sony though so we have to understand chipset3d's comment. They didn't change any major actors or rewrite the script. There was enough nostalgia aspects in this series to make it work. The writers got it spot on and made it for all audiences

Being a hardcore Karate Kid fan, I was really skeptical about Cobra Kai. I figured it was going to be a money grab and nothing more. Boy, was I wrong. Great show. Great cast. Great writers. I hope they release the show on Blu Ray. I would love to see a bunch of "behind the scenes" footage.

Cobra Kai handles nostalgia and subversion better than any reboot, remake, or recent regurgitated cash grab of recent attempt by Hollywood.

IKR,it's so hard to make a good solid remake or reboot of anything. Some might overuse the nostalgia that it becomes a different project than it was supposed to. Or people might subvert it so badly that it doesn't become what it should've been. Then a lot of people would be very disappointed over how it became and complain about what it could've been. Mostly the complaints would mostly be about the wasted potential it had.

100% agree. I put off watching for so long afraid they'd ruin a movie that meant so much to me growing up. They killed it!! So many little moments in the writing where they reintroduced lines in a different context was genius!! Johnny and Daniel rocking to REO Speedwagon LMAO!!! The textured character development in such a short time is excellent; the bad guys aren't so bad and the good guys aren't so good.
John Kreese. The first scary villain I’ve ever seen on film as a kid.

There are only 2 Hollywood film villains who really scared me as a lad: Darth Vader & John Kreese.

It's not a sequel or reboot. I feel like it's simply the "Series" 35 years after the "Pilot".

@Munk El Camino was great, but its not really the same thing, this is over 3 decades later taking a new perspective while staying true to its nature that will span across many seasons and El Camino was just a single film that takes place directly after the events of breaking bad exploring and explaining what happened to Jessie.
It’s the equivalent of pressing the pause button to get chips, and then coming back 35 years later to press play again
The writing is absolutely superb. There are no good guys or bad guys. Like Martin said, all of the characters are grey, and that makes it real. Another great thing about the writing is when Daniel-san's( I will always call him that) wife pokes fun at the fact that all of this is stemming from a 35 year old Karate beef. It's ridiculous and unrealistic, and the writers know that. They find a way to make light of it, and then make it believable. Amazing stuff! Can't wait for season 3.
It was just pure bliss to watch.
I think Kreese is straight up bad, but ya everyone else is super grey and interesting.
There was that particular employee from the Larusso Auto Group whom Johnny interrogated, he then answered something like: " Don't involve me in your Karate Soap opera". I like that the jokes are self conscious lol

@@patrickfagel4818 Yeah, or at least a much darker shade of grey than the other characters. He's the only real villain in the series. There are a few other assholes though (Yasmine, Samantha's first boyfriend, Robby's former friends...), but they play smaller roles. Oh, and Tory is pretty dislikable too, lol.

The 80's made some great memories in movies, the karate kid was one of them, all these years later, look at these guys, look amazing, hopefully it will go on for a long time
I’m pretty sure most of the OG Karate Kid casts were skeptical to start a Cobra Kai show at first just as much as us fans as well. But once they stepped in and after the fans’ reactions, I think they knew they have something special that respects the og trilogy and have something for the new generation at the same time. I’m glad it all worked out because it could’ve gone south. Now I’m stoked for season 4.
Mary seems like a big talker. She's always excited when she's talking, which is cute. It's interesting to see the difference between her real life persona and her much more toned down character by comparison.

I know what you mean man, I refused to watch it for so long, thinking it would be ruined in the same way other films that turn into a TV series. But I am now obsessed with it.
Remakes usually don’t end up being anywhere near as good as the originals, but that is not the case here. Love the show.

This show is probably one of the best I’ve ever watched. Just everything about it, the way they did everything and mixed the old with the new. Watching it I was so shook at how amazing everything was, props to the writers, producers, directors and actors.

I was about 5 when the first karate kid came out. This blew my mind and I really can't wait for season 3
I must admit I'm hooked on this series and waiting on season 4 soon ....then 5, 6 ,7 u get where I'm going. It's amazing they brought in so many from the old films absolutely love it. GREAT JOB !!!
I love what they’ve done with this show. It’s been done so well. These guys have developed such a brilliant chemistry of hatred on screen, that watching them together, all getting on, actually feels a bit strange.
Wow! Just finished the second season. This is the best reboot series I’ve ever seen! Me and my wife couldn’t stop watching! The storyline is impeccable! Characters are epic! Loved it!!! Looking forward to season 3!
Everything from the old school cast, 80s references, the new actors and actresses, flashbacks, etc., this was well put together! I'm hooked!!!

The team behind this series truly know how to revive and reboot one of the classic 80s movies. The Karate Kid. Cobra Kia a sequel series 1/2 hour entertaining episodes and I'm wowed how it still feels 80s but is in 2018.

man it's so sad seeing these legends get old, this is my childhood right here.
When this movie came out in1984, I was 19. I paid to see this movie in theaters 16 times in a row, every night in Vernon BC. Without a dought, it empowered me at that time in my life. I hold that movie very dear to me. Just the first one, the others were good, but it was the first one obviously that holds impact. This series brought me back as well as brought me to tears..so well done. So good to see the original actors. I'm now 56 its so good to see them. Very warming. Can't wait for season 3..thank you very much for this..

I’m 16 and my mom raised me on a bunch of the older movies she watched growing up as a kid and a teenager and let’s just say I grew up with the karate kid and I was ecstatic when I found out that there was a show out with the same actors ❤️❤️

I was in the 2en grade when I watch Karate kid part 2. I'm 40 now and watch Cobra Kai brings me back. Awesome cast and the director's team got it right. Love it. Thanks for the new memories.
So good to see these guys back!!! One of the best classic films made karate kid. Cobra kai is top of the scale. Such a good investment and cast are outstanding. Original and best!! Love it!

These guys are awesome and obviously genuinely nice guys who flow well together!... Karate Kid veterans now with the new series Cobra Kai that has a cast once again and a great story that is consistent and respectful to the original movies!... Can't wait till season 3!!...Well done guys!!
