If poverty in Brazil reaches sane level as in poor India, Brazilians will find ways to make beautiful glass from scrap glass as in india. Poverty causes hunger and pain of hunger is the driving force to do the most filthy dangrrous work as in this glass makers in India.
Excellent and efficient process. At roughly 6000 bottles per half drum at $0.01 ea, that's $60USD. From a quick search, one cent is a good guess. It looks like they make 18000+ l per day. If this is Pakistan or a similar country with an average daily wage of $10USD, one half drum pays the workers, one likely covers material and infrastructure, and the rest would be profit.
Turning trash into treasure, amazing work and thank you.

The first couple times Id brush aside busted glass, Id need stiches, whacking down a pile of glass with a steel bar?
I'd surely get glass in my eye.
But those workers are strong enough for this job. They know how to do this job safely.

I think in the western world we don't realize why products from other countries are so much less expensive. The reality is a much larger cost is being paid by these hard working people so that we can have cheap stuff. They deserve better than this. At the same time I'm inspired by their resilience and willingness to do what is necessary to care for their families.
