Thank you for actually playing riffs instead of slap. Great video
slap should be banned
METZ ZTEM Both styles are great.
So refreshing and nice!!
why does anyone "slap", ever
@@Riddle99-v7q No
That room is what Heaven looks like. Full of Ampeg and classic basses. Love it.
Yeah, Hernia Heaven
This is how demo vids should be done - great job...now, I pretty much always aim for a clean sound, but the '84 SVT at 2.08 is just utterly jaw-dropping
Great clip! I LOVED the Rickenbacker riff!
thanks!
Ile się trzeba nakraść i gdzie, żeby mieć do dyspozycji tyle ampegów? ;_;
what tuning are you in?
Yeah, the riff was killer along with the Ric.
drop d
One of the only times I've seen another SVT-2 non-pro. I own an 89. It's a wooly mammoth. Thank you for making the video.
Man, same here. I didn’t know they were so rare. I’m on the fence about selling mine since I’m not in bands anymore... but it’s such a classic I don’t want to regret it
Your playing is incredible. That Rickenbacker riff is making me want to play bass again. So much groove and feel and swagger, and CONSISTENCY. Love that there are still people who can really hold it down out there. You're perfect.
One of the best bass videos on RUclips
Every time I’m feeling down I come back to this video
That distorted riff with the p bass is pretty nasty
That Rickenbacker riff sounds like something Mark Sandman from Morphine would play. Cool stuff.
Great Job. They all sound like Ampeg's for sure. Love the 1974 Jazz-Flats, thru the 1984 era SVT.
And the B15S. The SVT VR and B25B also rule.
Some of the best looking (and sounding) basses that I've ever seen! I'm particulary a Hartke guy, but Ampeg is gathering up my attention more and more each day.
one of the best head to heads I have seen, Great Job thank you!
I very rarely like the bass playing on youtube vids, but this was refreshing
cheers
Brilliant demos. Just found your channel. Glad to find I'm not the only one playing with grit, and growl in their tone.
Honestly, I keep coming back to the SVT-VR and the B2RE as my favorites, with the B25B close behind. Great tones all around though.
Derek Ferrell I was surprised the B25B was as amazing as it was. Everyone talks about the SVTs, but wow
Super cool. This video really helped me get an ear for the different amps and which one I would want.
SVT 3 PRO for me! (with a 610 hlf)
Well done on the video. Really great to hear the comparisons like this. Thank you!
Holy shit, your playing is great and so is your tone
The B2RE and 08 VR were AWESOME
SAME!
I'm the proud new owner of a 1972 Ampeg SVT head and it's matching 1972 8x10 cabinet as well as a 69/70 "flat back" 8x10 cab. Both cabinets still have all of the original alnico speakers and the rig sounds even more glorious than I had hoped.
My eras perked up when I heard that 08 svtr head
One of the best bass gear demos I've seen on YT!
BTW: P-Bass + Stainless Steel Roundwounds + Pick + SVT = Best rock/punk/metal bass tone ever!
holy moly! best amp comparison video ever made!
Jeez, with the amount of people asking if any pedals were used you'd think they have no idea what an Ampeg sounds like when the gain is goosed a bit.
It's really funny how many guitar and bass players don't know that all their favorite tones on their favorite albums were made from tube amps and not distortion pedals
It takes time to find this stuff. And who's actually heard one live these days? Much less played one? But this is the best way for sure. Artsy shots you could freeze to get his settings. And good feeling riffs, and the slight variations in tempo catch your attention. Try listening to it quiet too.
Hey what setting to you use for a good rock tone on a vintage svt? Do you use the rocker switches?
What an awesome video. Thunderous tone.
wow thank you. cool. love them all but i'll take the B15 and SVT VR.
Really well done comparison, probably the best I've seen. Thanks for sharing.
Terrific demo. Thank you very much for posting.
The absolute best comparison!
fantastic playing man ! ...that Laredo really sounds good too...
Excelente!!! Necesitaba esta comparación, recién tengo un B2Re y acá suena increíble 🤘🏼🔥
Fantastic job! Best comparison on RUclips!
They all sound amazing!
V4B and B25
'84 SVT and B25B for sure !
Godnie zwłaszcza z Preclem, dobra robota ten filmik (z resztą jak i poprzednie) :)
Wow ,that B2RE works perfect!
Beatifull demo !!! 👏👏👏
Amazing! Thanks for doing this demo
Właśnie pożałowałem, że pozbyłem się mojego B2RE.
Właśnie się dowiedziałem, że SVT-2 PRO będzie ostatnim headem jaki w życiu kupię :-)
Great demo. Thanks for doing this. So many flavors of goodness.
You should do a comparison of an svt-cl, an svt-vr, and a vintage svt!
Nothing sounds better than my vintage fender p's and j's through my 1972 marshall major through 2 tall 2x15 bass cabs...all mullard valves...pure Heaven.
Weird but first let me say cool test thank you so much!!! was surprised to see myself look up every time to the B2 RE and VR!!!
While I did enjoy this, Im surprised you didn't use a Jazz bass with round wound strings, played with the fingers. Its super popular among the bass players I know (including me!). Also, if thats a personal collection of Ampeg stacks, congratulations its awesome!
Hah,,,funny you mention that! I was just wondering wtf?..a good video otherwise.
I love the B25B. Great sound! To me anyway.
vr and svt 2. awesome playing and awesome basses
Amazing, they all basically sound identical
Awesome riffs!!
Surprised at the overlap between the different models. I didn’t think I’d like the V4B as much as I did. 88 SVT2 is my fave.
Which one I like best really depends on the riff being played and the bass and strings being used.
Man that Maroon P bass has some mileage on it, LOL. Love the riff you were playing with the green P bass.
SRT VR hands down all day the clearest best tones
Nice job man. I always enjoy your videos. 😎🤘
Love the VR + 810AV
best sounding demo
Man, great video. Good job!!!!
That SVT-2Pro is a monster amp. Keeps up with the SVT-VR in my opinion.
I like the riff you play with the Rickenbocker.
thanks!
U da man!
Was the V4B running through a guitar cab? It says 4x12 so that leads me to believe that that is the source of its rather strange tone
SVT pro's and old school flip-tops are where it's at.
Nice job. You play like Bobby Vega ,with that pick.
love that stressed P bass! gorgeous!
79 fender riff is awesome
My top 3:
SVT V4B 1976 - Best of both worlds
V15S - Most distinctive / Saturated sound to play with
SVT VR 2008 - Modern pick
Best Video on RUclips!! VR for me... all though I was surprised by the B2RE
They all sound like good old Ampeg to me 🤘
Would love to see an ampeg shootout of all pro models
The v4-b and the mti era svt are the ones for me
Awesome demo. Thanks!
personally, I would go for the MTI era one. And I also like the V4B. Among the recently manufactured, by the way, I would go for the 2008 SVT VR
Impressive ! Great job mat ! Just an idea, i really curious about how sound an SVT3 preamp into a tube amp vs the native one, if you can test it and make a youtube comparison ? Cheers !
+dafxtone we have a lot of work to do...
sorry
I still love my 77 V4b 2x15 cab, can never have enough low end. Weather I play my Fender 77J, my 81P or my 68 EB3 it all sounds good threw the V4b even my stock Squiers.
Of the Ampegs I've played, nothing has come close to the 1960s B15-N. If you want something louder than that, then the SVT-CL is the way to go.
In the search for the perfect bass tone, I am an Ampeg in a sound hole.
Damn those svtpro amp heads have a nice tone.
Were you playing the b25b through the bright or normal channel? It seems really bright!
All of these sound epic. This is great bass playing.
I can hear the overdrive and clean, it sounds as though a pedal may be used in some places. Wanted to ask if that was the case, or, if there is one head overall that shines in terms of a natural distortion.
My gratitude,
-R
+Ryan Lee Also the Jam at 7:30 is epic. I'm going to try to tab it out. If I may it's got a run and then octave then goes a step down, egh, wow.. can I say hard. (!). Looks like it's based on a blues scale.
At some point in the video you stop paying attention to which amp is up and you just enjoy the playing, because they all sound fantastic. The EQs are set flat and they sound great as is, but a minor tweak with get any sound you want. Ampeg for the win, but I do like the V4B...
Do you REALLY owns all these Ampeg heads and cabs???lucky boy, great video indeed.
not all are mine
You can really tell the difference between the solid state and tube driven power sections.
Really so many sound good. For any given riff there might be one I liked more but it's a question of settings too. I should listen again to see if I can at least rule any out.
Am i the only one who doesn't like overly distorted and driven bass tones? But i love all the amps you have, so great.
I just ordered a B2-RE based on this video ,...are the images of the B2re in this video the settings you used?
wish you would've used the same cab
V4B is great. Nice playing!
Does anyone else feel personally attacked that the Stingray low B wasn't played?
I'd really like to hear how great an SVT sounds for woody blues and classic rock with NO PICK but actually playing ordinary bass parts in demo videos is such a rarity.
2 V4b's come in at not much more than one svt.One v4b for smaller rooms and the other as a back up,and both for when you need stage volume.Stereo applications like Ric-O-Sound too.If I didn't already own an SVT and a vintage V4b I would go that route.
It's like a top secret lair
Pretty cool exploration, but I wish there had been at least one set of comparison with the same cab.
Amazing comparison. Fascinating to hear the different tones. So all the overdrive/distortion is coming from the amp heads? Or were you using effects at any time?
The B2RE sounds surprisingly good, I honestly like it more than the modern solid-state/hybrid amps which are much more expensive. In my experience with an older B2, they are a little underpowered for a live full band situation, especially with an 8-ohm cab...through an 810 I imagine it's a different story...
That's exactly what i notice too, the B2RE it's amazing on this video!
Cool riff
Hi. Do you go by Matt? Just wanted to say that I'm totally envious of all the great gear you've got. Almost like a used music store. Also love listening to your groove.
Great stuff Mateusz. Any chance you could record the Heritage head and cab and chop it into your mix here?
sorry we have no free time to do this:(
Thanks anyway. Great, great, vid comparison btw. Very helpful.
Can't understand why 60 dislike ....exellent shootout ..thks !!!
Sounds like a fly buzzing through the amp
The P-Basses seem to be more distorted than normal. I gig with a 1970 SVT BLUE LINE MAGNAVOX and a SVT3 PRO. mine don’t distort that much.
Hmmm....a '73 blue line?
They transition to black lines in '72....this is well known.
@@Toolmybass I’m dyslexic, I wrote the wrong number, im sorry. 70 to 72. I Edited the post. 👍🏻👍🏻 the point is the distortion is there. N8XLQ
@@lennyround-n8xlq I was going to say...if it is Blue. I would email Ampeg with serial # to confirm
I sold my '71 and i regret it every day.
I do have a US-VR to "get me though"🤣
Keep that sucker until you are too old to move it..lol
@@Toolmybass I’m planning on it. The bass amp of a lifetime, lol. We checked, there’s no serial number on the amp. My repair tech and I both looked all over as he was replacing tubes. We can’t find it. We found the spot on the back we’re the serial # goes. No numbers.. 🧐
@@lennyround-n8xlq Are you on Facebook?...there is a great Ampeg page....and Dean Dino (master of all Ampeg knowledge) always will help out on questions.
I'll take the Rickenbacker and Stingray ! :D
