The object of the puzzle is to build a pentagonal temple. To solve the puzzle, the five helical pillars need to be driven through the ground plate, one unit deeper. Next the top plate is added, and the pillars are pushed through the top plate one by one. The five pillars are all different. The puzzle has a unique solution.

I like this redesign! I think to make it more commercial, you could use a lion or a comical burglar (white e and black striped thief) toy instead of a ball. The challenge could be to disassemble the cage, put the toy in, then lock them back up. The lion has escaped! That sort of thing. The puzzle looks great and would love to buy it myself :)

It is a very nice improvement on the old design. As far as a commercial approach, given how easy it is to disassemble, I would say that it should come disassembled already (to make clear that the challenge is in the assembly) and that any images showing its assembled state be in black and white so as not to give away the order of the colors, which would make solving pretty trivial. Even if you weren't looking at the box for reference, just seeing the image while trying to open it would already put the idea in your mind for what order the colors should go. Alternatively, all the screws could just be the same color, but that would detract from the visual attractiveness.

To help make it look more finished, you can add a gradual and shallow depression in the top of the cage's base, so that after setting the cage down, the ball neatly rolls to the center. Hm, how would you make the difficulty of the puzzle more apparent, or even the highlight? Oh, another minor thing might be to design some sort of mark on the base and lid, so that after solving the puzzle, there is no more guesswork, you can note down the orientation of every piece

Even after screwing all five scews down, you still can't get the lid off. That is pure magic.

Hi Oskar, I think this is a cool puzzle that I could have fun fiddling with for quite a while, and that it's great improvement on the prototype, but honestly I wouldn't buy this if I saw it in a shop. My reason is that I can already see just by looking at it how it should be solved, and I already own many things to fiddle with instead. If it was made from an interesting material and the ball could conceal something, then I think I'd be interested.
    Love your work as always!

Thanks for the feedback. You may have missed that this is actually a quite difficult assembly puzzle, though. Only the disassembly is trivial, after you have discovered to twist the posts down.

@@OskarPuzzle I think it just might be easy to remember its solved state based on the colors of the screws and the patterns on the surfaces of the pentagons. It would make it more difficult if the surfaces were smoothed out, and even more so if the screws were the same color. Maybe you could include two sets of screws (the rainbow colors and a set of chrome/gray) for different levels of difficulty.

@@OskarPuzzle Yeah absolutely good point - perhaps if it was sold disassembled and had to be assembled as the first experience

A bit strange it is easier to get the object out than put it in
