Loved your justification for the strobe. 'I have it, so I need to use it!' and I totally agree. I don't think there's anything you could do that would be boring though... More crazy vids! :)
Some info for the camera mic: I don't know, which port you got, but you should look for a Large diaphram microphone, these record all around, but are expensive. I can't really give a recommendation for a specific brand, I live in germany so it should be pretty differeent than in cananda. I hope that this was useful. Love your vids!
If you are filming outside and there is wind you can use what is called a dead cat and for the mic I recommend a shotgun mic. Hopefully this works for you :)
Sweet Install. And yeah a go-cart would definitely make a great toy! I have an electric go-cart track around a hour away and it's really fun. There's also a saying that people who grew up with go-carts/dirt bikes and later go on to race cars (in a closed course setting) master your racing lines for a cleaner quicker driver for better high performance closed course driving. Yeah tbh I love cars and find autocross and track days (CLOSED COURSE) to be a huge stress reducer/hobby.
Nice video and nice install! One thing I would have done though is instead of a secondary generator running indicator, I would have either tied it to the RA in the detectors or have a control mod to show the generator is in alarm. Also maybe should have a generator shut down incase smoke or heat or both is detected in the room. In some buildings in Europe like in the Netherlands there would be an indicator on a building like this. Great video none the less and keep up the great work!
I would hope they would respond to the address they were given. All sorts of things have Amber and red strobes they aren't looking for that when finding a fire.
For a mic I'd recommend the Rode VideoMic Go II. It's simple, great quality, easy to use, and comes with a wind filter. It has a USB-C and a 3.5mm TRS/aux port. The aux port is mainly for listening to the audio, but you can also use it as the mic output into the camera. Edit: If you connect your phone to the mic via the Rode app, you can tweak some settings with the mic (mainly the loudness and a few other things iirc).
1 thing you should do some day is have so when the generator is on, it gives the house's FACP a supervisory (useful for when the generator tests its self (if it has that feature))
just put a wireless lav mic under the shirt, just a linus tech tips does. plus you can move around and still hear you. it also means that you could be a good few meters away from the camera while still being able to do talking and not have the wind get in between you and the mic on the camera. It also means you would have consistant mic level which is easier to work with when editing. You could also get a shotgun mic just for when your filming aircraft I would pick up the engines more.
Nic I loved this video. Nic please provide some information on the new canera like make and model. What type of Iinputs it has, etc, etc. In fact please provide everyone a picture of it. In one of your upcoming videos. And we can help find a good wireless microphone that cut out wind noise and we could hear you better. I'll help do research on the issue so we can help you decide which wireless microphone that will help with problem.
Wait so do integriy strobes in Canada use snap on lens? In the US, older integrities (pre integrity and first gen 757, and powersavers) uses snap on strobe while the newer ones use screw on strobes.
I was going to recommend the same thing. Lapel mics will be better as the mic is closer to the source (your voice). You may be able to wirelessly connect it to your camera, otherwise it’s just a matter of syncing audio to video in post.
@@justinhill8102 for most of the content I do where I am working and moving around I don't think a microphone on me would necessarily always be the best but certainly good for some times I would think

Hard to say I don't know if it would gain much attention as for everything other than what I do on my main channel someone else does it and probably does it better lol

Fun flashing light is always a good reason! Thanks for the videos dude
Agreed
Hi there ❤
When people ask me why I watch videos about fire alarm systems 00:43
0:50 its like why IT guys love blinking lights on servers they never see.
YAY FLASHING LIGHTS!!!!!!! THE BEST ADDITION YETTTTT!!!!
You should really start a second channel about airplane spotting! People like airplanes!
I just don't think it would do very well because there's so many people that already do it and do it way better than I ever could
It also looks like a 4050-80 remote light.

The RA can't run much power at all only meant for a small LED like what is in a key switch or annunciator not for a whole device
Hi, like the stroke on the generator building
now if a firetruck is dispatched to that street they will think that strobe is where the fire is
I would hope they would respond to the address they were given. All sorts of things have Amber and red strobes they aren't looking for that when finding a fire.
Nah in Canada blue or clear is fire
Awesome strobe love your videos

My generator doesn't do a self test the problem with that would be every time I start the generator it would make noise in the house
Wouldn't that also make the other house fire strobe go off?

Sony A6700 and I have sense found a microphone
I love this channel
Nice Video
Yay! Strobes
You Should label the strobe to have Generator lettering like an integrity
GE makes the aerosol spray foam insulation too
That's interesting they definitely make lots of things
@nics-systems-electric I thought so too. I didn't know about the silicone either. I found the foam insulation at Walmart here in the US
Seems like you had fun making it though
Hi your videos are the best
I wonder How long is it going to last in the elements? Even with the silicone?
Only time will tell
nice
I’m a huge fan of

Storbe is kidn of poitnless, why need 2 lights.

Not supposed to come off but you can bend these tabs on the back and get it off
This is interesting
nic wants a new toy!
Thats the only silicone I get too!
strobe go brrrr
Brilliant justification 😂 flashing red lights are always justified
the strobe is camera shy
I have a red roting light in my bed room out side the power roon I have it set up so when the power comes back on the light will oprate

Btw love the new strobe!

seems such an overkill system for a home 😂 looks cool tho
Lots of people have home back up generators this is the same thing just built not bought

Nice Nic! - Riley (use my name, Riley)
The strobe definitely will have a hard time showing up on camera
You should add a bell next
Bells are loud strobes are silent
And the generator will have a Boeing 737 style APU fire/overheat detection alarm
@@FOHGeek do I get the APU fire extinguisher handle to pull to?
