Equal credit should go to valee. No one denying it. But the reason people are praising Rahman is because of his rendition of the song.such a soulful rendition not every music director can produce this kind of rendition which was poetic line. And his voice very soothing.

This is a beautiful song written on the deathbed by Tamil poet Vali, and rendered by AR Rehman into this touching and strong song which completely caught me off guard for it covers a grave topic and left me feeling empty.
I just want to say life is a miracle! Whatever problems you are going through is temporary and will get solved.
If you are considering suicide, please DONT. Talk to someone... anyone! For we are all humans after all!
    Enjoy the song!

There is no fetus which has sinned
When this is the case, who are you and I to blame and complain?
The loudest of music is made only because of the holes in bamboos
And only the blackest of clouds,
Shower down to give life to all of life and crops!

But a plenty of green trees along the river
    And the entire community

The Earth seems really far off...
    Who knows anything, after all?
Why were you born? Why did you come to life? Why were you born at all?
Naan yen piranthen?
Kan yen thiranthen?
Enakkey theriyaathey....
Why did I come to life?
Why did I open my eyes?
I myself don't have the answers!
    ஓ... O! Iraiyoan padaippil
Yethuvum azhage
Un kann ariyaathey!
Oh! Of all the things created by god,
    Everything is beautiful
Our eyes can't see it all
Naan yen piranthen?
Kan yen thiranthen?
Enakkey theriyaathey....
    Why was I born?
Why did I open my eyes?
I myself do not have the answers!
Pachcha karu yaavum paavakkaru alla
Neeyum naanum yaaru kuththam kora solla
Poththal ulla moongilla saththamulla paattu varum
Kannangaru megam thaan
There is no fetus which has sinned
When this is the case, who are you and I to blame and complain?
Even the bamboo sticks with holes makes good music
    Only the blackest of clouds
Shower down to give life to all of life and crops!
Naan yen piranthen?
Kan yen thiranthen?
Enakkey theriyaathey....
    Why was I born?
Why did I open my eyes?
I myself do not have the answers!
Yaaro... Yaar arivaro?
Yen solvaro? Sol!
Is there anyone who knows the answer?
Even if they did? Why(how) would they share the answer?
    Tell me
Yaaro... yaar arivaro?
Yen seivaro? Sol, sol... sol
Is there anyone who knows the answers?
How would they know the answers?
    Please tell me
Naan yen piranthen?
Kan yen thiranthen?
Enakkey theriyaathey....
    Why was I born?
Why did I open my eyes?
I myself do not have the answers!

this is the first ever Tamil song that I heard... frankly speaking... rahman nailed it.. Rahman performs Tamil songs with much ease and perfection compared to Hindi songs. King of Music.
I don't understand a word of Tamil yet I have heard this song a lot of times... perhaps this is a testamony to the fact that music has no language...
salute to the most humble musician this country has ever seen... !!!!!

+Vinod Tiwari bro! jus read the description to know what the songs is all about. SO intense lyrics. literally makes me cry. this video has been borrowed by a big charity organisation in Tamil Nadu, and they released a video of a young poor boy's life with this song in background. God it brought tears to all who were watching this at my workplace

What a divine song from many levels!!! Not sure what every one else feels, but I truly think that musicians like AR Rahman may be the messengers of peace from the divine for the chaotic hate filled times we seem to live in. Music is truly the message of the divine to all life on earth. May 2020 bring all life on this planet more peace and unity. God bless!

For those who can't connect with the lyrics...
This song is about the female infanticide...
The song starts with the beautiful village aspects followed by birth sound of a child when the whole world is silent...
Then the song starts with the aspect of the child questioning on what is its mistake of coming to this earth...
Hope this will help you guys understand the brilliant lyrics of the legend "Vali"

But they bring the rain back
    For survival of crops!
    For survival of mankind!!

This is the first time that I stumbled on Mr. A.R. Rahman's song. For no reason, the song brought tears to my eyes. I don't know much about the music note but he sings in such high pitch so beautifully. The lyrics that question why was I born with no answer is so touching .

I’m from Sri Lanka and I also cannot understand a single Tamil word except amma & appa even though Madras is the nearest Indian city to us. But after listening to some Tamil movie songs (A R Rahman, Hariharan) with subtitles I started to appreciate the realistic cinematography, melodies and the meaningful lyrics of those songs. They are art-wise beyond the so-called North Indian commercial cinema music which is apparently burrowed Pakistani Talent in most cases. For example this particular song is definitely derived from Tamil falk music and polished by AR Rahman in to a fine piece of art 👍

    • @jaypomusic
      @jaypomusic 3 года назад +2

"Borrowed Pakistani talent in pakistani cases" is quite untrue. Indian musicians have far outweighed the number of pakistani musicians in Bollywood.
That being said, I agree with you on mainstream Bollywood music. Some of the independent bands/artists are worth checking out though (some not Hindi) : The local train, when chai met toast, F16s, Prateek Kuhad, Hanumankind etc
