I'm guessing you mean the buzzy tone in Matts electric guitar, it has a 'Fernandes sustainer' built into it, this keeps the strings vibrating even it he doesn't pick them, and it creates the buzzy sound. My guess, based on what his guitar used to have in them, is that the guitar has a bareknuckle pickup in it, possibly a 'nailbomber', but don't quote me on that.
