@@rubaidaallen2764 yes I agree. I saw them in Brisbane Feb 2020 just before Covid shut everything down. It’s was my 8th show, all here in Australia, and probably the best 👌
Descending has been in my top 3 favourite songs since it was first played live by TOOL back in mid 2019, before the FI release. The second half of the song shakes me to the core, so powerful.
FI is Tool's magnum opus. IMO their best record. There's not a song that's "meh, take it or leave it" on that record. Wish they could've made space in their set list for 7empest but I'll take almost the entire album live. Second half also sends chills up my spine, especially when he's doing the panning volume swells where the volume pans from left to right back to left. It's like you're waiting for something amazing right around the corner.
I completely agree. I got into TOOL back in 1995 when I was 26 (I am 53 now) and their music has been with me through marriage, the birth of my two children, and all of life's events in-between and since. I have been a musician since I was 16 and I listen to a shit ton of music, and no band, no music, hits me the way that Justin, Adam, Danny, and Maynard's does. And it never, ever gets old. I look forward to (hopefully) another album release by them. Spiral Out!!! 🌀
@@kevinlynch2248 Awesome stuff bud! Love the story. Been a fan since Undertow and am 58 now. Listen to them every day. They've made it difficult to listen to other music to be honest. It's about 85% Tool, 5% APC and Puscifer, and 5% other music lol. Absolutely addicted. Spiral out!! 🌀👁🧘🏻♂️🙌🏼
@@thisistheyear99 Yeah, Undertow was on repeat in my car back in the day, then AEnima dropped and THAT is all I listened to. I agree with you that they've made it incredibly difficult to listen to other music. Like you, I listen to them Every. Single. Day. My nine year old daughter (who is a huge KISS fan) tells me that I am obsessed. I respond by telling her that I have great taste in music and also it's only a matter of time before she warms up to Tool herself 😁. For me it's at least 85% Tool, 5% Puscifer, and the rest is a mix of bands like Soen, Leprous, Deftones, Melvins, Dream Theater, some APC, and a smattering of noise. I also listen to some Porcupine Tree (big fan of Gavin Harrison) and a little bit of Blackfield. I'll be honest, I am not a huge fan of APC's entire library. I never really got into Howerdel's guitar sound. I know that may sound petty, but Adam Jones' genius has spoiled me!! 🌀
@@kevinlynch2248 Hey, your daughter will be on Tool in time, without a doubt lol. Love the bands you mention. Soen, Leprous, Deftones, Porcupine Tree. Another great one is Wheel if you haven't heard them. Very influenced by Tool. They have a couple albums and an ep, all good stuff. Great musicians and great sound. Keep rocking bud. And slowly get your daughter into Tool, you know it's a must lol. Cheers!
@@thisistheyear99 Thanks for that and I checked out Wheel this morning. They are great!! I can hear the Tool influence, but it's not so much so that it sounds like they're trying to copy their sound. In their music, they have more space in-between the instruments than Tool does which makes it sound a little less intricate. Regardless, I love what I have heard thus far.
I think over time this has grown to be my favorite song on Fear Innoculum. The vocals, the instrumental buildup, the drums, the lyrics - just a great song. It was incredible to see love.

Trippy man, well done! the awesome audio with the weirdness of the spy glass effects is just like being there. Like your mate said..."that was fucken sick" haha. With the world going to shit we may never see them again down here in Oz.... so thanks, keep them coming
Not sure how many times I've watched this but I'm watching it again and this performance is so epic and moving. Everyone's in top form as usual and Adam absolutely destroys on that guitar. Love your buddy's reaction. Was this his first Tool show or just the first time hearing Descending live?
I love Adam's picking style and how it's so precise, tight, and deliberate (with screw ups here and there but I've been playing for 20 years and would fuck up this song so much so whatever lol). The first time I watched him play I was thinking "Is he even playing that guitar?" because you can barely see any wrist/arm/hand movement.
Actually I met the guy that was with me at that show a few nights before. He is a young 20 something year old musician that was playing at a bar I was at. Was chatting outside after his set and told him I was seeing Tool the following night and asked if he’d ever seen them live. He said no and would kill to see them. I had an extra ticket (6th row) and gave it to him. BLEW his mind.
Only one guitar. Danny played rhythm guitar when they performed Culling Voices. Adam has A LOT of effects (MIDI controller, rack effects, a Moog, a bunch of other stuff I don't even understand). Justin has a shit ton of effects too and so does Danny with his synth pads. It legit sounds like 6-8 guys live I didn't believe it til I saw them earlier this year.
They put on such a fantastic show! Greatest concert experience of my life! This video is too shaky for me to finish but, looks like you had great seats!

Ridiculously good.

Best audio on the net ..
This song was fucking insane live. The beating in your chest from the drums and the lilting feeling of the guitar riffs were hypnotic
I love this song already, but holy shit it sounds a million times better in concert
For sure, and id say a billion for maynards voice.

6’6” haha. I have to say, it is a great height to be at concerts.
Maynards voice on the studio album is a bit constrained and catchy. The live version is on a different level in terms of atmosphere and pathos
