That clay solo inspired me to learn how to play bass at 42 years old. I’m super happy you liked it! Thanks again for checking them out and giving this song the play it deserves.
That guest spot was gnarly. I love how it contrasted the rest of the piece - it went from really melodic, lots of melody variation on one theme, and Clay's spot almost gave it a "bridge / breakdown" feel to build into the first true "groove" section. Brilliant arranging!
@@LowEndUniversity I don’t know what happened to me when I heard this song. All I know is for the past two years I’ve been obsessed with learning the instrument. I can’t play any of it yet but it’s been the driving force for learning. I don’t even play with a pick lol all slap because Toby did a RUclips short of the solo and I’ve been concentrating on trying to learn it slap style like he does it. @@theatticreview777 thanks for the encouragement! I’ll give it a go but I’ve barely learned how to double thumb like 6 months ago lol. Teaching yourself isn’t easy at all! 🤣🤣
I got another request! Unprocessed, Abandoned. There’s a great bass play through on their RUclips channel! Another one of my inspirations for the instrument. Thanks again for this reaction. It helps me get pumped to learn more!
Hey man, love your videos. The one were you explain how to double thumb was the trigger to make me take my bass again after so many years of having it abandoned, an it was also the video that got me hooked to your channel and all of your content overall (love your Scale the Summit stuff, and I'm addicted to Tetrafusion). Excellent reaction and analysis as always.
Sometimes I just need someone to vibe out with to the music I also like and this was very much enjoyable. Keep these videos coming and representing us bass minorites 😂👏🏾👏🏾🔥
Was very fun to finally see your reaction to theses guys! They're incredible and I love all of their stuff. Matt (or Matthew?) Fackrell is the other bass player in this band, and him and Toby are insanely talented musicians. For some other songs of theirs to check out, I would recommend: Wax & Wane, Fountainhead, Final Tree (ft. Jacob Umansky), Scurryfunge, or Merlin's ID (which they have a live performance of it) There's too many for me to choose very well but those are some of my favorites.
I remember that the first time I heard The Omnific, I tought that they were very talented but that it was probably only some generic Djent with a dual bass / no guitar gimmick. But then I listened to the full albums and was blown away with the amazing composition and production. Its some very good music on its own, the twin basses concept does not seem to be forced into the music, it just feels right.
I'm really appreciating your content. I like the deeper, more technical commentary than a lot of reaction channels provide. Might I request First Fragment? Forest Lapointe is an amazing bassist that has several playthroughs on RUclips. All with a fretless 6 string.
Aaaand I scroll down just a bit and see you reacted to Gula. Still, I agree with the comments on that video that something off of Gloire Eternelle would be excellent.
Toby and Jacob Umansky have a song together called endless I believe. There’s a dual bass part a minute into that song that made my head explode. Would love to hear your take!
This is such a great song especially with Clay G’s guest star!! Another amazing track from them I think you would enjoy is The Labyrinth Chronicles, the breakdown @2:23 is unreal 🔥
Omnific rules! Can you look at Nuclear Power Trio? Their bass bass is so tasty! Nyetflix and Chill, Clear and Present Rager, Grab em by the Pyongyang. Literally any song is a banger!
great analysis, but the best part for me was getting to know new music. This band is awesome, but a few days ago, I watched the video of the mudvayne song, when you mentioned "soften the glare", i couldn't stop listen to it. Now i have an alternative hehe.
Absolutely - I'm having a blast with these videos because it's turned me on to so much new music, and when it does for someone else, I'm super stoked on it. I have a Soften the Glare video in the pipes soon - stay tuned!
Yes finally, I was sure you will really like this band! Your song's choice is really cool cause this one shine the difference in the way of playing bass and close the debate of pick or not on bass ! I'm not sure but I think, the earlier stuff was played with 2 musicman bongo. As always I come with a next suggestion. Alex katunich. Former incubus bass player. His playing on the "science" album is really interesting. Big love as always

Robert Sledge has always been a huge inspiration to me as a bassist. Maybe sometime you could do "Army" on the channel? Curious as to what's your take on that multi-scale bass: I know that bass players don't really need to be doing a lot of low fret bar chords and such but it still looks like a quite severe fan fret whenever I see these types of basses around: is it similar to how most guitarrist say they can quickly get used to even severe fan frets after just a couple hours or do you really need to pay more attention to technique on a bass which already has a pretty large scale so any changes are way moe significant? I also imagine that finding all of the harmonics would take quite a bit more adjustment since you always have to be more precise for those.
i have the same Dingwall that's in the video, and i never really had any issues with adjusting to the fan fret. felt great almost right away. honestly the 37 inch scale length was a little difficult to get used to physically, but that went away quickly. sometimes chords can be difficult, but nothing too serious...
I've picked around on a few multi-scale basses over the years, Dingwall included. I've learned that they're all different, Dingwall being the most extreme. After a few minutes it felt natural - if I closed my eyes (which I tried), it wasn't too noticeable on just feel. I think it's just the optics of it when you look at it that make it appear to feel different, but there is certainly a small difference feel wise. I think I could get used to it. I remember when I got my first Warwick, and felt the same way. Warwick basses feel so different from any other brand, that it's almost the same adjustment phase. Then, at some point, everything EXCEPT my Warwicks felt foreign. Ha!
