What a yacht ! ! ! This is what dreams are made of...
An older, well kept yacht can prove itself as a cost effective investment. With a skipper who loves to tinker, a chef that enjoys keeping things tidy and an engine room aficionado that fancies a clean exterior that crew of three could keep this boat "ship shape" for years to come. Thanks to all involved and thanks Nick, for the tour!

I love Nordhavn interiors. Haven’t seen one yet that I wasn’t super impressed with. You can count on beautiful finishing, decor and gorgeous cabinetry. One look and you know you are in a yacht. No mistaking these interiors for a condo or house. This one, once again, doesn’t disappoint. It is very unusual, because it feels like a split level. I’ve never seen another one like it. The owner’s cabin on the second level is another idea that I haven’t run across before. Morning coffee in the Caribbean, out on your private balcony would be pure bliss.

@@geoffreytofte4049 correct this yacht started off at 5.95 million dollars and went for just over 4 million in the end. Shows just how over priced large yachts are, perhaps the brokers think if you can afford a boat this size we can get away with charging you 50% over what it's worth ?

I've always heard you can take about 10% of the price of a motoryacht for the yearly operational costs. Do you guys think this would run a guy $450,000 a year in maintenance and regular operations? I've never had a boat larger than 30 feet so I haven't dealt with a big thing like this Nordhavn

    • @AQUAHOLIC
      @AQUAHOLIC  3 месяца назад +2

I'm afraid the 10% thing is complete nonsense, just one of those things people like to spout to sound knowledgable. There are a huge amount of variables, starting with the cost of berthing where-ever you plan to keep it and encompassing crew costs if you have them which can vary massively.

  • @sohovulture87

Absolutely fabulous ships and this one is no exception. Bering still fractionally does it for me over Nordhavn, but pretty much only because their interiors are more to my taste, though I'm not knocking Nordhavn interior design in the slightest. As far as I can tell, they have similar levels of redundancy although many Berings have the black water treatment systems which, I think, are a must these days - not sure about Nordhavn? However, one couldn't ask for a safer and sturdier construction from either boat builder. Terrific stuff, though I reckon Arksen will soon give them both give a run for their money. Hope so anyway as all healthy competition and Arksen seem to be coming in at a different angle. Great tour Nick and thanks for that. See you next time and all the best

I read the Nordhavn 86 has a displacement of about 180 tons. A displacement boat could use somewhere in the range of 4-7 hp per ton for optimum performance. The bottom line is that you have enough power for any sea condition. Obviously the gear reduction also is of importance. In this case power would range from 720hp to 1260hp. With 2 times 600 hp it is spot on. My 86 ft icebreaker of 100 tons of displacement has 400 hp but it has a reduction of the engine of 1:5; my single propeller is 1.3 m 4 blades. The maximum speed of a displacement vessel is squar root of the length (m) waterline x 4,5 in km/h. Thus in both cases it is around 22 km/h. They won’t go faster. My boat does 20 km tops.

That is the perfect family boat that the whole family will enjoy for many years to come. Nordhavn designers checked off Every thing on my list and I'm sure on your lists as well. Thank you Nick for finding this gem to share with us. I absolutely love this boat. May I suggest one thing, can you please put up a specks page up on the screen to show us all the main things such as loa, width, engines and HP, holding tanks for fuel and water, top and cruising speed, max NM at top speed and distance and for cruising speed with NM. I love to see that on another channel, you know what one I'm talking about. Love your videos the best because you don't waste our time opening every cabinet and going over every thing in the bridge, we know what is on the boats from you showing the console to us. Spring break is coming and it's about time for another family holiday for you and your family so start hinting to the boss and find out where she wants to go next. We look forward to seeing you and your family on a video like you did in the past. I'll never get to see most places you travel to so I deeply appreciate you sharing your life with me. I can't walk nor able to travel anywhere. But I sure have enjoyed watching all your videos on here buddy. Safe travels and stay healthy. Stay away from anyone that is sick and coughing. Love you all, share the Love and lets make our planet better for our grandkids and theirs. I'm still praying that one day we will win then we will All have World Peace. Amen

I love this channel and seeing these boats, an even more on times I see them having a elevator for us who are trapped in wheelchairs. We can't do stairs and need wider hallways. Plus taking showers are alot harder when we have to have help. I love you all and wish I had that magic clock to rewind back 25 years before I was injured by someone else who wasn't paying attention to what they were doing. not an expert just curious -- think definitions overlap slightly --- In terms of size, boats are the smallest, followed by yachts, and then ships, which are the largest of the three. Boats are typically used for personal or recreational purposes, while ships are primarily employed for commercial or transportation activities. Yachts, on the other hand, cater to the luxurious and leisurely desires of their owners and guests. Another key factor that distinguishes these watercraft is their functionality. Boats are versatile and can be used for a variety of activities, such as fishing, water sports, and cruising. Ships, with their larger size and cargo-carrying capabilities, are designed for transporting goods or passengers over long distances. Yachts, as we’ve discovered, focus on providing a lavish experience and are associated with leisure and luxury or with racing. taken from yacht mag article - some are both yachts and ships etc / clear as muddy water but get the idea ... !!! did sail a boat, went on friends yacht and worked on a ship ... dishwasher of all things ... good ole days student job ..

Looking at boats like this one and seeing that it’s up for sale make me feel like they’re selling someone else undies. I mean just take a look at how it was build. It’s purpose specific for the previous, initial owner. I don’t think I’d like to by someone else dream, I’d prefer to build my own. More importantly because of the fact that there is just to much wasted space and or crammed space like for instance, in the master bed room I would have placed a build in chase-lounge instead of that rocket propelling build in love seat and on the sun deck I would have had a round table with free standing chairs as opposed to those GRP build in seating benches that don’t let you walk about the place freely, but thats what the original owner liked, so c’est la vie!!!!!

I like the decor but having the master suite so high means the possibility of more movement. I really like a sky lounge in it's position. Nice yacht - I'd still buy a Bering in preference.

I have come to despise Nordhavn and love some other yacht brands better. Just some pesky details.
BUT, no matter what you are showing, you do a great job.

Not that I'd ever be able to afford this Boat but Wow, set up nice, style and clean. I'd say in my Top 5

I wonder if they cruise underway on one main at a time and just alternate. Similar to what Bering does. 600 hp seems like it would be plenty to push it 8 knots.

Hi , another amazing boat , were spoilt for choice ? Running cost ? if we have to ask ? I know we can not afford it .🤔😉👍👍

I think a good add to your videos would be crew minimum and operating costs. It would be interesting to know how much additional costs would be to some of these amazing ships

Wasn't feeling this one. I think I prefer the small Nordhavns, they feel more like the scrappy ship which can, rather than this which feels too big to have the same vibe.

    Beautiful boat
Little big ship feel, but felt very disjointed and hiddly piddly layout.

Love your walk arounds Nick and I do like the Nordhavns. Just wondered why this one has a window in the wardrobe in the master suite. 🤔

Needed a disclaimer on this one saying "pay full attention to this tour". I had to go back three or four tines to figure out "where did that cabin come from"?

I think you should’ve done a more in depth video ! I love the way you showcased the boat. The video seemed a bit rushed…. Cheers 🎉

Not my cup of tea but some nice concepts.
What would drive me nuts though is the open galley! Hearing and watching the crew prepare food 3x a day would be very annoying

What a beautiful yacht, I would rather have this than the modern design stuff that's coming out at the minute that look more like a car ferry, stunning boat for the money and age

On an engine configuration such as this, first objective is to get uneven hours on the engines so both don't need overhaul at the same time. I would run on one engine for ~2500 hours more than the other (assuming 25K hours for major overhaul). Once that differential is achieved, run 'em even hours. That way one engine will need overhaul ~a year before the other. In memory of Chief Engineer Thomas Wash - - - best engineer I ever sailed with.
