It’s a shame in my view that patek doesn’t offer any 37-36mm calatravas for mens anymore ! Love this time piece but would wish that they have a smaller version of it as well.
Totally agree 👍 The current Calatravas even wear larger than 39 mm due to the extended lugs.

I go the other way. I have sold my two smaller Pateks as I prefer both dress and sports watches at 40mm. I consider the classic Rolex President too small at 36mm. The newer 40mm version has better contrast with the bracelet.

Nico. I know you are german and will always gravitate towards Lange. But I would still choose a Patek if it came down to the two brands. Why not a VC Overseas instead? I love mine
My choice will be 1815 up/down between the two, easily. Sits better on the wrist (shorter lug to lug), has a more interesting dial, and can be worn casually on a white gold case and colorful strap. Just trumps the Patek in every way I feel.
Almost all Lange watches, except steel Odysseus and Lumen models, are available at 10-25% discount with greys in US. Same case with Patek. Almost all dress Patek’s can be had at 10-20% discount with greys. So unless you want to bundle an Odysseus or buy multiple Patek’s to be eligible for a Nautilus/Aquanaut, my advice will be to go grey.

The search for a grail piece is a fun journey which I have not completed either. Am a big fan of Lange, both the watches and the brand experience at the boutique. It is a challenge to even see a Patek, let alone get one, so to me that spoils things. The Lange Up/Down is a classy watch and it will not age, which is a plus. Good luck with the hunt for a grail watch.

Owning the 1815 auf/ab I can tell it's much more of an allround watch as one might expect. I love it but nevertheless it doesn't get that much wrist time 😅

I was just at that Patek in the Dubal Mall, they bsacially ignored me. I even wore my 5712 to know I have a history w Patek. Ill try again in September when i come back to Dubai.

Lange have sick price for service cost, Patek classic plus it is a dream to have Patek in collection, if you want one, there is no better than Calatrava (yes sports whatches are cool from them but I recognize Patek as dress watches)

I tried the 1815 ab & auf and was very closed to pull the trigger. It wears very well on your wrist, actually the best of this line up. Strong contender indeed. Was the 6119R available at the boutique?

I think you will go with Pathek to have a history for future. But in this case Lange just maybe looks better but of course you have to see a watch live.
