    I started as 2D animation compositor in north America and the process is very much the same. This is the first time learning about F's plugins used in the anime industry and it would have saved my team a lot of time as it is way more powerful than the native keying tools in After Effects. I think if I was to pitch these tools to studios here it would be a game changer.

    Incredible tutorial, especially as someone who wants to break into the animation industry to hear what real studios are doing. How have the studios you've worked with keep these more creative effects consistent between scenes? I imagine there are probably hundreds of style guides, preset files, and templates to keep track of.
    It could also be a helpful addition in the future to have A/B comparisons for some of the more subtle effects, especially with color gradients or film grain that may not show up very clearly through RUclips compression.
    Keep up the amazing and informative work!

      The same concepts apply from this video. Really you are just using different view layers or shader AOV in the compositor. Masking and layering them together using the mix node and its many operations. Just experiment around you'll get the hang of it.
      Blender has a real time compositor now which is great.

    Would you be willing to do a video about how coloring and compositing is done under specific lighting like sunset or night when the local flat colors (going based on comic terms, the default color palette under a white light, sorry idk what the animation term for this would be) are changed due to the lighting?
    I am curious if such a thing is a matter of applying a filter, has to be manually changed and chosen or what.

    hello dong chang, thank you for your amazing videos! I myself am currently learning about these animation final compositing techniques that are scattered around RUclips, and how lucky I am to found your channel and videos!
    One thing I wanna ask, I still don't get the particular reasons of why should we export our animation cels into .tga files. What is the technicality reasons that requires us to do so? Like, what's the difference if we export our animation cels into png image sequence, can that format be applied into these compositing pipelines that you showed us?
    I myself haven't tried using .tga formats. But from what I saw in your last 2 videos, exporting the cels into that format made us having these 2 conditions:
    - Solid white background; hence the needs of color selection and/or hold plugins
    - frame length/count that has to be readjust in AE
    aren't these 2 conditions won't be met when we export into apng image sequence? we can have transparent background, and the frame length information that we already set up from working the cels in Clip Studio Paint. Wouldn't that save us a bit of time?
    so that's why I'm wondering what's the particular reason of using the .tga formats. I hope you can explain further of the .tga format further.
    thank you Mr. Dong Chang for your invaluable share of animation work pipeline! I hope you'll continue to create more amazing contents, hope you have a good day!

    This is amazing, but i am curious is there a particular reason the colour grading is done in After Effects? I'm asking since usually grading is done in video editing software, it saves a lot more time and is overall more convenient that way, especially as all the AE renders are placed together.

    • @DatYouTubeGuy
      @DatYouTubeGuy Год назад +1

      As someone who has worked on anime its mostly for organization and keeping video editing solely for stitching the whole project together. You want minimal effects here so that way its easier to keep a track of individual scenes plus most scenes have unique compositing techniques giving a different feel and that'd just be hard to keep a track of in something like Premiere. Once you know that each independent scene is complete you can plug it in and replace them within the animatics as well since there is test watching sessions in some studios.
