I don't think there's any other guy on youtube that gives this level of in-depth process explanation as you do and to actually learn that from a pro, keep doing this amazing work 👍
Mix “ Dong Chang “ videos with “ Hide channel “ tutorials & you have everything you could ever need to become an Anime god
( ^ω^) thank you@@SadTown99
I started as 2D animation compositor in north America and the process is very much the same. This is the first time learning about F's plugins used in the anime industry and it would have saved my team a lot of time as it is way more powerful than the native keying tools in After Effects. I think if I was to pitch these tools to studios here it would be a game changer.
Mind if I ask what projects did you help create?
You are a god send dude.
Bro this made me speechless because I see this all the time in the behind the scenes film etc but nobody on RUclips has done this from a Japanese perspective which is very rare when explaining! Thank you for showing such unique techniques that I always see in the opening and ending credits
WOAH! For a long time I've wondered how gradients for the eyes and cheek blushes were achieved.
This is amazing!
Please make more compositing tutorials.
Never stop making videos! Your a legend bro
THANK YOU AGAIN!! will apply this to my next animation! i used the part 1 extensively on my animation and i love how you just put another 1 to improve it! LETS GOOO
Incredible tutorial, especially as someone who wants to break into the animation industry to hear what real studios are doing. How have the studios you've worked with keep these more creative effects consistent between scenes? I imagine there are probably hundreds of style guides, preset files, and templates to keep track of.
It could also be a helpful addition in the future to have A/B comparisons for some of the more subtle effects, especially with color gradients or film grain that may not show up very clearly through RUclips compression.
Keep up the amazing and informative work!
Just wanted you to know this has been immensely helpful! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and would love to learn more stuff like this!
Those good basics are the top. Thanks a lot Dong!! You are the best!!
Thank you for always posting informative videos like these it really helps 🙏
Thank you so much for this! Love it! Can't wait to try out all those techniques.
Yes thank you so much! Literally no one else on youtube provides good english tutorials for anime compositing! Please keep this up!
Thank you for another amazing tutorial. You are a gift to the world. More power to you. 😊
Found your channel yesterday... After binging your content I can easily say that you are now my favorite animation RUclipsr 😊 Everything is so helpful!
I been waiting for a video all week my addiction watching this Chanel is crazy
I love your tutorials. I'll start doing these once I catch up my drawing and animation skills.
One of the best channels for new artists and animators!
You are really a life saver, there's not thar much videos or tutorials in English about this phase (Composting).
Grain and color correction make all the difference in the world. Thank you for sharing another amazing video!
les goooo! really appreciate these videos. gonna try this out myself
Thank god. Keep the compositing videos coming brother! There are so few out there, and the ines that are, aren’t the best in terms of explaining.
you're such a legend for teaching these techniques
I just started animating in January of this year and all I can say as a new animator is Thank the good Lord for your channel. You’re amazing brother and explain things clearly-a skill that is hard to come by on RUclips and paid tutorials in general.
Thank you for telling us all of this! You are a LEGEND!!
wooow Dong another Gem you've uploaded
Love your videos they are so valuable
Excellent and unique video, would love to see more like this specifically on compositing in AE
thank you, information from an actual industry view will help so many people learn how to work in animation in the future
Thank you for the precise instructions❤🙏
love these videos, please make more on compositing
Thanks for the tutorial!
Outstanding work it always amaze me how people come with different ideas on After Effects and makes me wonder man I got to learn a lot I'm no where near. And watching this my laptop be like "Don't even think" 😛
Thank you, Don, for sharing your knowledge. Thanks to them, I am making my own anime.
for a fast but still effective grain use HLS noise and set luminosity to 2-3%, then go on rotation and set expression as "random(360)"
hope you get bigger with more subscribers and view you deserve it for these videos
it's awesome! thank you so much for this!!
this is super interesting, a very nondestructive way of animating!
very informative! thank you
much love and thanks
I learned a lot on this channel
Te amo. Muchas gracias por compartir el proceso.
One way you can do for the compositing, especially with the lighting, is to make a mood board. Using reference is actually helpful.
Thank you Mr. Dong.
I love you man truly a god send 🙇🙇
Best channel on RUclips
Thank you for what you do, it would be interesting to know about backgrounds in anime, how they are drawn, painted, compositing them, is it such a complicated job, do they already use neural networks for backgrounds?
yah another best video
You are you inspiration sir, you always give me lots of information about anime, please make more videos 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
thankyou so much for this !!!
thank you so much! ☺️
sick thanks!
please don't stop making videos!
Hi
I really like your videos and every time it is very helpful to learning new stuff about composite layer after effect from you .
Could you made a video about exporting this kind of stuff and your settings for rendering and what format you used to exporting .
Thank you
Good tips brother, new subscriber over here
Amazing...this just left me wahh😮
Thanks Dong!!
Thank you so much sir
If you don't mind...what's the average wage for an animator in japan?
He said in his video name: Cowboy answers your questions about Japanese Animation Industry
the fact it gives more he anime feel makes it even better
Keep it up 💪🏻💯😊bro
thanks so much :)
can you please teach how to do shadows for characters? Cant find a good way to do it in comp.
I hope you can make another video on how to make animation characters blend in with a Background environment tone
This looks so GOOD! The character is adorable. But man do i wish there was something like after effects that is more so free but worked the same. I hear blender might be able to but I cannot for the life of me find anime compositing videos for blender.
The same concepts apply from this video. Really you are just using different view layers or shader AOV in the compositor. Masking and layering them together using the mix node and its many operations. Just experiment around you'll get the hang of it.
Blender has a real time compositor now which is great.
hello Mr. Dong! thanks for the helpful tutorial
i would like to know your opinion about composting anime shots in other free programs like Hitfilm express or blender or davinci resolve and maybe make a tutorial about them. if that's possible ☺
thanks for the information. are you going to do Q&A video soon? because i have some questions i want to ask..🙂
hello dong chang, thank you for your amazing videos! I myself am currently learning about these animation final compositing techniques that are scattered around RUclips, and how lucky I am to found your channel and videos!
One thing I wanna ask, I still don't get the particular reasons of why should we export our animation cels into .tga files. What is the technicality reasons that requires us to do so? Like, what's the difference if we export our animation cels into png image sequence, can that format be applied into these compositing pipelines that you showed us?
I myself haven't tried using .tga formats. But from what I saw in your last 2 videos, exporting the cels into that format made us having these 2 conditions:
- Solid white background; hence the needs of color selection and/or hold plugins
- frame length/count that has to be readjust in AE
aren't these 2 conditions won't be met when we export into apng image sequence? we can have transparent background, and the frame length information that we already set up from working the cels in Clip Studio Paint. Wouldn't that save us a bit of time?
so that's why I'm wondering what's the particular reason of using the .tga formats. I hope you can explain further of the .tga format further.
thank you Mr. Dong Chang for your invaluable share of animation work pipeline! I hope you'll continue to create more amazing contents, hope you have a good day!
this is so game changing! might i ask, how do you install f's plugins on ae? it doesnt seem to have an aex file i can move to ae's plugin folder, so im curious how you imported it!
damn Marisa looking good for sf6
Would you be willing to do a video about how coloring and compositing is done under specific lighting like sunset or night when the local flat colors (going based on comic terms, the default color palette under a white light, sorry idk what the animation term for this would be) are changed due to the lighting?
I am curious if such a thing is a matter of applying a filter, has to be manually changed and chosen or what.
thank you
Amazing tutorial! Thank you for your channel! Thanks to you I started to animate. But om my laptop I can't use after effects. So I should buy new laptop
Where do you take the animated raw clips from? Is it from an actual series you worked on or are there templates you can use for training new compositors?
I am a pro animator myself, so i can say that he just worked on that on the go.
are there any mac compatible plugins for compositing?
could you do one on how this would work on Davinci Resolve
I'd you'd like to create more anime compositing videos, I'd love to watch it!
i nead it that thank you dong
Another excellent and useful tutorial. Thank you. Do you know if there is an alternative plug-in or script for OLM Smoother to use with After Effects on Mac? OLM Smoother doesn't work on Mac OS in Adobe After Effects versions higher than CS6 (which is now unavailable and unsupported).
Yoo so I want to start animating i bought the pentablet too and i am thinking about starting from Clip studio paint what do u think
please 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 how to do to download plugins
what are the effects to use to add texture to your stroke (like in ousama ranking)? also is there an effect to thicken/taper lines?
please make a video of how a person runs in anime style, I will be very grateful!
If i wanted ti animate short anime styled video should i make each scene on a different after effect flie and then put them all together?
I used to do many of these for my own work, but I wonder if they can be replicated (efficiently) in Davinci/Fusion.
there are many OLM plugins that cannot been downloaded, any idea why?
how can I change the color of the software to gray like you behind the cels I see black and make it difficult to see the lineart
HOLY SHIT YES THANK YOU SIR
could you do a video on compositing anime FX
4:20 Add+Glow Effect 👍
which software u use to make those background art? some of them are made in 3d what's the process to give that anime look to background
thank you ey
Sensei, please give us tutorials on how to create those beautiful scenes in Shinkai Makoto movies!!!!
Any particular reason you use Box Blur instead of Camera Lens blur? Wouldn't Camera Lens Blur create actual edge defraction and bokeh shapes? I know Box Blur renders way faster so if time is a factor then that makes sense.
Regardless these videos are such amazing reference and very much appreciated for those of us working in Western animation too!
I feel bad watching these for free crying emojis
so the background and the character is 2 separater drawing, but what if it is a combat scene? they are still separate
Yes, they are always separate
is this type of compositing style popular with any particular studio? seems kinda familiar
I believe this is the groundwork for most, if not all of them.
Could you please link the part 1 video in description? Thank you :)
Dong I'm not sure if you'll see this, but I had a little query... When I've been drawing Aliased I believe I made the mistake of having a 1 Pixel sized brush as opposed to a 2/2.5 Pixel sized brush. I've been wondering if the more jagged and angular appearance of the lines after using the OLM Smoother is because I've been using lines of only 1 Pixel in weight.
