A fabulous beat-'em-up featuring player and enemy characters straight out of Asian myths and stories.
This little known brawler is based on the 16th century novel 'Journey to the West' which is about a monk and his comrades travelling to western Asia and India to retrieve sacred religious texts. Like the book Oriental Legend is full of fantasy elements, including the characters Wu-Kong, who is an immortal Monkey King, and the humanoid pig , Ba-Chien
IGS put a lot of creativity and power into making Oriental Legend stand out, taking you from magical kingdoms in the sky to mystic towers with floors guarded by fierce animal warriors. There's substance behind the game's visual flair, as each of the five characters feels unique. They have signature fighting styles and weapons that they drop if you take too much damage.
Oriental Legend also has a light inventory system that lets you stockpile magic items and throwing weapons to help you out in tricky situations. Some items are simple like bombs or axes, but others are just crazy, such as a giant pagoda that falls onto the screen to crush enemies and a huge statue of Buddha that damages foes with beams of light.
