  • The range of motion of the forelimbs becomes restricted when muscles that are responsible for moving the front leg forward and backward accumulate tension and can't release it. Releasing tension in this area allows the horse to step out further and leads to a more fluid and extended gait.
A helpful technique for dealing with tension in the muscles of the neck-shoulder-withers Junction is the Search-Response-Stay-Release Technique searching for points surrounding the horse's scapula.
One important point is the one Jim is showing you in the video, which he calls The Magical Mystery Point. This is located behind the scapula where a cross-section of different muscles intersect. When these muscles are developed you can see and feel a bit of a lump. This mystery point will often hold tension and tightness from hard work. Releasing tension at this point may improve your horse’s range of motion in the forelimbs.
To find out more about these subtle but powerful techniques, join one of our Light to the Core Seminars and learn how they can positively affect the deepest interconnections of the horse's body.
