- Did Disney just become Vought International? On January 1st, 2023, Jeremy Renner suffered a freak accident at home. Disney is advertising the first sit-down interview with Renner after his accident with this absurdly sensationalist trailer. What do you think of this? Let me know.

What do you think? 🤔
what a terribly tone-death trailer that was. Makes me think if only the trailer would give that impression or if the thing itself would too!
Hopefully it’s just the trailer, but I wouldn’t be surprised…
Even f they aren´t, they sure as hell are exploiting people´s childhood memories
Oh, for sure.
The first seconds of the real trailer you showed made me laugh because I thought it was a joke from you. So yeah, I think that this is just terrible and exploitative.
Ha! It does seem like something I might have done.
It could be interpreted that way, I do think Renner himself would probably be more than willing to boost his show Rennervations. I agree with the dramatic pandering just being cringe but if he's fine with it then Eh.
I will say, Maybe i'm being too negative but i can't imagine an Actor being at all bothered by some extra attention / praise. Though Renner does deserve praise in some regard.
definitely agree
Great points, Ethan. I'm sure Renner received a nice paycheck for the interview and doesn't mind the extra publicity, but Disney is still sensationalizing his near-fatal accident and it just feels... gross.
"You would do it again?!"
I don't think Disney is exploiting him. He chooses to be exploited.
The trailer gave me the same vibes as a Kirk Cameron movie trailer.
😂
I would watch the interview. But the trailer is super cheesy. I'm wondering if Renner himself suggested it. He's got a funny sense of humor.
Jeremy Renner is pretty active on Twitter and hasn't shared the trailer. That says it all to me. I really don't think it was intentionally made to be funny.
comments sections are hard so I'll pre-phrase this by saying I'm not trying to do a gotcha or be insulting in tone in any way. But I am genuinely curious about the nuance of your stance of feeling like Disney is gross for doing this to capitalize on his tragedy while not feeling gross for creating a video to capitalize on this tragedy? Are there ways that you think Disney could've handled this that would make you feel like it isn't gross? If Disney sat down with him and they decided together to do this to be his step back into the industry after the tragedy and push publicity for his show that's about to release? What if Jeremy Renner was the one that pitched the idea? I'm not saying that's happened, but post them as discussion points to gain greater insight on your take of the situation.
BTW, I loved your reference to The Boys satirizing large corporations only to be part of one of the largest. It's part of the satire that made it harder for me to be totally on board with some of its humor.
Maybe
Call me?
My personal opinion, although JLR is a great actor & loving dad, w/such great moves as the Avengers, The Town, American Hustle & The Hurt Locker, but in reality, his ex-wife almost or tried to torpedo his career, i hate to be the elephant in the room, but the accident although horrible & thank God he survived, with his strong will & determination, I think kinda of revitalized his career again & put him back on the map. But, of course Disney is going to exploit him, it's great business, he has, his Rennervation show on Disney, now has an awesome album out, chronicling his amazing journey of surviving for his family & daughter, but it gives us all hope, that life is too short & not to give up on your dreams, w/his 4:20 Sweet Life vodka, rehabbing homes & his series The Mayor of Kingstown, which I personally binged on series 1 & 2 & look forward to season 3 in June. He has a great life ❤
Publicity distracto-scam as a story was about to break regarding the "nature" of his/her missing "bits". And as always, once Diane Sawyer shows up on the scene, you know it's gonna be sketchy!
