    Wow, what a HAUL! I was blessed with one of those sample books a few years ago. I was able to take the rivets out too, and it made a world of difference to the length of the fabric pieces. I used them to make grocery bags and purses. They were very pretty and very sturdy.

    What a great catch! You will be busy just using up that fabric.

    Wonderful find. I have been using upholstery fabric samples from a furniture store for several years. I make tote bags and zipped pouches for homeless ladies. They love them. Plan on making a delivery next week. 😊

    you are so FORTUNATE to get those free of charge. In my country you can buy them, but they are pretty expensive, and they are great for bag making. Lucky girl !!

    I have saved fabric samples too. I have made all sorts of totes and zipper bags and pouches. Most of the projects didn't need linings, only bias tapes on inside seams, because of the lovely finish on the backside of the fabric.

    My mother received a similar haul in the early 1990s and re-covered the cushions of the mobile home (RV) she and my father were travelling Europe in. You brought back some fond memories! Thank you for sharing! 💗

    Many years ago I was working with another girl and we were making costumes for the ballet and the office we were working in was of a designer. She had dozens of sample books that she wanted to get rid of and I took them all home. I have made some of the most unusual and beautiful quilts. I still have fabric scraps that are going to be used in the future. I look forward to see what you will be making.

    What a great idea! I know sometimes they have paper on the back. If they did, how did you get it off?

    • @sunbeamfabricart
      @sunbeamfabricart  Год назад +1

      About 10% have a 'frame' on the back, and it is some pretty heavy duty glue. I will be cutting away the 'frame'. Thanks for watching ! ☀️

      You can use an iron on the paper and the glue melts off

    A couple of precautionary statements: drapery fabric may not wash well either on its own or with other pieced companions; further, it may be very heavy. Bag construction would be ideal use.

      Thanks! ☀️ for your comment! I appreciate it! I have already made a small 'tester' quilt sandwich, washed on cold, dried on low. Turned out just fine. The weight is similar to my corduroy / denim quilts, featured in this link.
