For me, I want to buy one. The is either gonna be the best idea of my life, or the worst
A diner... A homeless shelter... Maybe even a home for a railfan... who knows! :)
BART knows, but time will tell.
old style rail car Diner
No matter how much you told me you cleaned them, I would never ever eat out of one.
@@mrohyeahmrohyeah1598EEEWWWW made me think of all the Nasty
YES
Put em in a big empty yard where graffiti is encouraged so some have a place to go paint and practice and the news channels and normies would love that for sure
yee
I have an idea
Repurpose at least two 10 car trains as a theme park ride, maybe as a kind of roller coaster that displays BART's "Fremont Flyer" from 1972; except that it will go from one station to another and it will be continous until it reaches beyond the end of line station and back to the platform.
Zane Marte As a theme park ride ? Huh ?
Cori Abelove Actually thats a pretty dam good idea... with all the murders going on those trains barts already making a name for itself. how about bloody rails? A halloween ride?
@@jayjohn9680 😂😂👌🏾😂
I'm certain a set will go to the Western Railway Museum in Suisun City.
gonna need conversion to standard gauge
@@CentralJerseyRailfan it would most likely be static display
I would buy one....just to flex lol
They were originally supposed to stay in service to increase capacity. Not any more.
At 0:37, there is a Disneyland ad on the back wall on the right. Weird.
How could you make a food truck out of one these? Even as a trailer, it would be too wide too long and too heavy unless you pulled it with a semi and then you would not be able to maneuver into anywhere.
western railway museum should get one
i'd buy one for the sake of the memories
0:57 they already are homeless shelters
🤣🤣
What was the need to replace old BART cars? The best subway cars I know. And they don't look like they fall apart. In Buenos Aires first subway cars made in 1913 worked until 2012-2013. BART cars are much better, and could last even longer!
BART's system is almost entirely custom. They use non-standard gauge track, and a proprietary 3rd rail power system. Plus they're old which makes it worse because its old, custom parts that you cannot get off-the-shelf. Infact BART is using eBay to find parts!
Due to age they are slowly being phased out! During the heat they have a tendency to suffer air conditioning failures! Which is why people in the Bay Area want them out! But I do love the iconic sound their so legendary
Time to retire the old fleet.
BART CAR
Oh yes, it’s exactly what I need, where do I get one? 🤔
I hope they put one in a museum. It was the first method of transit in California after all
Is BART still saling the old train cars???
Use em as a Camping or Guest Cabin. Or use em as a GAMING ROOM and remove all the seats and put them in the basement!! And the Cabcar can make a good train simulator!! XD
If the fusaelage of a Boeing 727 can be converted to a street vehicle, why not an old BART car?
Retired BART cars? Sign me up!
The New BART Trains Will Have 775 New Cars.
BART scrapped all but 8 of the cars... and only 3 will keep their trucksets.
Their aluminum was sent overseas.
This won't age well.
auction time!
That would make an awesome dinner ..
How much?
Looks like the new ones have three doors
Yeah, that's right
Do I have any chance of getting one of the old BART train cars???
Those Bart car are look nice 👍
BART GET RID OF OLD BART TRAIN TO FLEET OF THE FUTURE TRAIN CAR
I like the old Bart trains not the new ones
Yup the new ones look weird
Don’t we love them at lease remodel those ones! No harm on having 2 difrent trains
How about make a bike and standing car with few seats remaining.
They shouldve just kept these bart trains design for the new trains
Buy one of those an cut off the cab section to turn it into a simulator
Why don't you repurpose them into small affordable homes?
Duh...
That's unlikely, that "Duh" shit is completely unnecessary.
Because they aren’t homes dumb ass.
The New BART Trains Will Replace 669 Old Cars.
ooh give me one
Do you see a teddy bear on BART
Waah..wait...hayward??? Where are the job openings?
BART CART
What about donate some of those legacy trains to other countries for use as an second hand subway system
Marcos Salas too costly... and the gauge is not Standard.
these cars are legacy vehicles it would be cheaper in the long run for a new system to buy new so that they have lower maintenance.
Because they have to ship them, which also costs money. Fuel is NOT cheap here, unless someone from those countries wants to pay for it.
Mateo James is correct. Gauge is not standard (rail width) so they just won’t fit on any railway except BARTs custom track width. One of the many reasons the new cars are so expensive. Custom parts.
Late comment but the trains might not even run fast on the tracks depending on the voltage on the third rail as they use 1,000 volts where as MTA for example only has about 415 volts
Turn the old cars into housing three adults a unit or two if OSHA would let all the corrupt tape loosen
LOL....Nah ,too many bad mems around them ,that's just freaky!
Bart car
Tiny home.
If anyone can give me a Bart car I would be thankful and use it
how about keeping them on the tracks and if you don't want to pay for expensive ass bart you can ride the old ones for free lol
Ticklish Ice Cream Man nope i would rather have the new ones. These are an eyesore... for people visiting.
We should set up a go fund me generate enough cash to purchase the whole old fleet, build a subway system in LA, this would be a non-profit company and volunteers of retired transit employees will train the homeless to run the system, this would be a win-win. It will get the homeless off the street and ease LA traffic. Crime rate will go down, air quality should also improve with less cars on the road. We need to give the homeless a purpose to live. Retire Bart GM Grace Crunican, are you up for this challenge???
Sell them to India.
Why?
@@TheMusicalElitist : BART trains used the same track gauge used in India but India would never take them as the cars are over 50 years old and the BART trains were all proprietary so if India was to purchase any old BART train cars they'd have to keep half of the cars they purchase sitting around strictly for parts as that's the only way they'd be able to get replacement parts for the other half they'd actually operate.
Aren't they already homes for the homeless LOL
Also mental institution
I pissed in one of those
