I guess you could be right because a dev did explain that there is so many types of builds and not just a alpha build, I would assume beta has it's own build.

BF4 is gorgeous and that's why It holds up a little.. but It's VERY noticeable the graphical/visual upgrade achieved on BF2042.. But, visually speaking, BF4 was def. ahead of it's time.. Lol no. It was regular DICE at the time. BF3 was really jaw dropping (compared to the previous gen.), but 4 was “nothing special” in visuals for the BF community. The point here is that 2042 looks like it has been developed on Minecraft engine. So that’s the problem.
@@joelh3030 you know, people think about "War" and what they hear is "You won't see any colors here! Everything is dark, dirty and gritty because you know...war is bad, and also Hollywood...." and they're like "oooh it's sooo realistic!!11!"
Excellent comparison! BF 4 still looks great. I'm a bit disappointed in the glass shatter effects and god rays in 2042 - seems to be a regression from 4. I also think some of the ballistic effects (e.g., shooting at the concrete and wood) looked better in 4.
I wonder if the 2042 team did this exact test and said “damn, they really went all out in 2013, I don’t think we can really do anything expect add better graphics due to next gen” in my opinion, they should’ve done a remaster of BF4 but with different maps, campaign etc. keep the BF4 style, no stupid specialist, no allowing for any class to carry med kits, ammo boxes. It generally just decreases the team work and class use as a whole. Sadly I’d rather play BF4 but BF4 is just missing new content because obviously the game is pretty damn old. Also, am I the only one that actually liked Hardline? But yeah there’s my two cents.
So you're not going to play 2042 but you would rather keep criticizing 2042 without giving it a chance to be at its fullest? Did you forget that BF4 was broken trash when it was launched, people like you preferred BF3 at that time. It was only after 2 years of community work, BF4 became a masterpiece it is today.
BF4 seems to be made with alien technology. If u imagine its now 8 years old and still hold its ground. To be honest i think overall BF4 wins the comparison.
When you compare BF4 with BF2042 on console than yes. BF2042 looks and feels on old gen console like an mobile game. It's 0% optimized for old gen. After i played BF2042 i was going straight back to BF4 and had a better experience.
It just seems like more effort used to be put in, that or they just spend too much time on pointless things to where we get a game where the jeeps look bloody awful
Um, the gameplay is great in 2042, it’s still in beta aswell so it can only get better. And for the maps, the maps in bf 2042 look absolutely amazing. I think you might be a little nostalgic, just give it a bit to be released and worked on some more before you compare it to a fully released polished bug fixed game like BF4
While I recognize that BF2042 has more detail, the colors of BF4 just look more real. BF2042 looks like a Just Cause or a Far Cry 4. IMO Jets and Tanks look better in BF4. BF2042 does have better animations and the handling of the guns looks way more realistic especially because they don't look so close to the character and movement is not as rigid. I have to take my hats off to DICE 2013 and the team that saved that game from being a buggy mess in 2014
I agree, but while I truly appreciate the realistic colors of BF4, I'll be honest for some reason I'm really digging the crisp color grading of BF2042. It doesn't break the immersion for me, the game looks amazing and the crisp colors for some reason "feels" futuristic-ish, if that makes any sense
I mean different parts of the world do look different you know? The color pallet in 2042 is just as realistic as 4 because it depends on where in the world you are.
@@arekzaworski5711 thats what I keep telling myself, maybe just because of pure hope that the final version will have more destruction cause in the beta its absolut shit, especially for someone who spend over a thousand hours on BFV.

yeah you're right but it's not a really good indicator since this is comparing a beta and a fully updated Bf4. When the game comes out and is more optimized and everything then put them side by side again with same gfx settings and we'll see how much they differ. Just bare in mind that the maps in 2042 are bigger, so I do think that we'll have to sacrifice some details when looking into the vast distance and have over 120 players doing whatever on the map XD. I don't care about the eye candy, I always go for most frames per second. Eye candy is for single player :D
@@K3Vz0 If that's truly the case, then shame on DICE. Because although some of the horrid issues from the alpha were ironed out, it's still pretty bad on performance for a wide variety of systems. My 5600x and 3070 get around 85 fps on average at high settings, while I can play BFV and easily get 175-195fps. My 5600x is staying near the mid 60% and 3070 just about pegged at the 100% mark, so it's not a bottlenecking issue. So all they may end up doing is pushing players away by displaying an old build filled with problems. My opinion of course.
@@joshuapicarello the thing is it was either have a buggy beta or a buggy launch, When a game is actively being worked on most aspects about it are unbroken, the reason the beta is old is likely because The people at Dice have been working nearly nonstop for the past 3 months and not had a time where everything was in a functional state. It would have been nice for the Beta to be more polished but this gives them more time to work on the game in concentration and have a satisfactory product when the launch official date comes around. The world is so anti violence in games that the game studios are pretty much not able to be really realistic. You could pop someone's head with a sniper rifle but that type of thing isn't allowed these days it seems. Yet I wonder how Mortal Kombat gets away with it. I think it's like Quentin Tarentino said "who won't let me do this". Seems like DICE don't want to challenge "them".
Graphically 2042 seems a step backwards compared to BF5. The details with BF5 were really good. Ya the beta is a 3 months old... but when the BF5 beta was out it had a lot of its graphic detail. Damage models on tanks, infantry models, the mud, sound effects all are much better with BF5. I dont think all that much has changed or will change from three months ago. Most of the changes will be UI and game balance.
I wouldn't call it a beta, more like a rebranded demo. A public test shouldn't have a preorder entry fee for more than half of it's run time and you should have multiple tests to actually show you work on the game and give people multiple chances over time to find more different flaws and needed changes, like 343 does with Halo Infinite, but taken even further. As it is, "betas" from Ubisoft and EA are just marketing shticks.
@@danielllitpek2014 there is no pre order fee.. only a pre order fee for early access. It follows the same pattern of every Dice Battlefield game. The problem is Dice rolled back features that were so of the best parts of BF5. Especially the movement. BF5 infantry combat was one of it's best features. I dont understand why removed so much of. Such as prone positions, leaning, duck and run. Really the only thing the movement needed adjusting was a slide timer and turning while sliding restricted or lock in a straight line. Then spatial sound is horrible. I just hope that do to a early build issue and not the final product. As of right now its non existant. Ya it's not a true test.. more a server stress test... sad part is every time they do these stress tests launch day is still a laggy mess.
I think an element of this is artistic direction. 2042, along with 3 and 4, are stylistically modern games. The whole point of 1 and V were to convey gritty, horrible conditions to the player, hence the more pared back UI and added effects of dirt on weapons like you mentioned. Also, going purely off of the above video, 2042 is brilliant graphically. The water‘s reaction to C5 and being shot, the detail of moving trees when firing the tank cannon, the improvement to grass when crawling through it, the list goes on. And we’ve only properly seen one map.
@@danielllitpek2014 most tests are closed and only for certain groups... I dont think it's that big a deal. This was a two day open beta. With 2 day exclusive beta. @@AverageAlien totally agree with you. In BF4 it’s easier to calculate the gun’s spread when firing from the hip. 2042 felt like a shitty mess that tried to copy the latest Modern Warfare poorly.
Doing so would ruin the multiplayer experience as there will be advantage over players playing at good graphics. Low graphics always gives more visibility and pro players always keeps the graphics low.

@@PyroBlonde7777 I'm a 3D artist so when I see a lot of things in this game it drives me crazy. The fact that the graphics hardly improved over almost an 8 year span really irritates me. The environmental graphics upgraded a little but other then that nothing else. If you where to hand BF4s 3D assets to the artists that textured all these knew ones they could literally make them look just as good. The models look to have the same geometry as they did back then. It's just higher rez images and better quality use of substance painter. That is literally it. I feel the game could have been visually better if they kept the player count to 64. Since they doubled it that is double the things that the engine has to render, double the stress.
Battlefield 2042 looks technically better, but it falls into that uncanny valley, where it gets distracting when different aspects are different quality. For example if the lightning is that good, then the textures should look a lot more better that the current ones. Also bf4 nailed the distant terrain much better. I feel like 2042 needs more "earth colors" if that makes sense.
The game has definately taken a different aesthetic to it's predecessors, battlefield has always had a more gritty artsyle that used darker, earthier colors, whereas 2042 feels much more vibrant, the greens on orbital seem far more saturated than they do in say, bf5's pacific maps or bf1's argonne forest.
Honestly Dice needs to go back and pull a lot of stuff from BF4 and use it in 2042. I like how vehicles create tracks and all. But so much can be reused from BF4 that would really make 2042 better. And for the love of God bring back first person melee takedowns

@@Kelshando What I mean is, a beta should not be for a certain group, at least not for sale, even if just partly

@@spork8721 I guess we all have different opinions but to me it feels like an arcade shooter with fast movement and zero weight. Look at bf 1. (Note): B statements are the synopsis of the explanation(s) above.
1) No campaign on launch
Ex. Older games made sure to include some type of story, granted this wasn’t a strong point within the franchise . (Except BF Bad company games)
2) Battle Royal mode will apparently be missing on launch as well.
3) Class factions created a team balance & an immersion as well as added depth to unlocking items. (Having to do specific task for each gun only in that classes added more value & could lead to a competitive edge in specific situations).
3B) Statement above means, BF had its own system that stuck out.
4) BF3 came out in 2011 (don’t really feel like explaining this one). But in short, there should be an improvement.
5) I remember playing the open beta for BF3, every issue the players pointed out was noticeably fixed. Gamers weren’t given a significantly older product, but one to be worked on while communicating with the community.
5B) The statement above meant, “quality & presentation is a must”. Give customers confidence in your product.
Thats what was people said about bf3 when bf4 was out
Personally prefer the warmer color pallet of BF4 but 2042 looks and sounds better in almost every single aspect. Also, keep in mind that this is a Beta-build that is a few months old according to some developers.

The FPS running/movement animations were much more natural in Battlefield 4. It's like they got lazy because "fuck it, COD players won't notice anyway".

@@dankhill7917 2 month old build of the game. You’re nit picking the Alpha they never actually made a beta build
It does look a bit too bright but then again this is a very tropical map so makes sence
The game has definately taken a different aesthetic to it's predecessors, battlefield has always had a more gritty artsyle that used darker, earthier colors, whereas 2042 feels much more vibrant, the greens on orbital seem far more saturated than they do in say, bf5's pacific maps or bf1's argonne forest.
i actually feel the opposite: the textures are gorgeous but the lighting in certain scenarios just looks...off
Keep in mind the Beta is a 2 month old version
MW2042 looks a little too colorful, feel like I’m playing an arcade shooter.
Honestly Dice needs to go back and pull a lot of stuff from BF4 and use it in 2042. I like how vehicles create tracks and all. But so much can be reused from BF4 that would really make 2042 better. And for the love of God bring back first person melee takedowns
