I love to see your face when you take things out of the oven. You have such a passion for cooking and it shows in your smile when a project is complete.
I made them and they came out sooooooooo good. Yummy! Thank you! Thank you! I made also the yoghurt cake and it came out perfect and delicious. I love your recipes ❤️ I am so happy I found the perfect RUclips!
This dough is very similar to one my family have used for most of the 20th century - for cheese straws! My grandmother's recipe is one which requires equal amounts of butter, creamy cottage cheese (or quark, if one is able to find it!) plus flour!) Makes really delish cheese straws!
just love how detailed her instructions are and like when I was curious abt something then she’s gonna answer at next step as if she could read my mind. One of the very best cooking tutorials I’ve seen.Thank you so so much Stephanie for all your hard work teaching viewers all over the world.Happy new year from Australia 🇦🇺.All the best!!!
I used the pastry recipe. It is so deliscious and easy. Best pastry recipe ever!! I filled mine with curried ground turkey as I did not have mushrooms!! Yum!!
Easy, freezy, ready to bake off after the kitchen is clean. Perfect timing! I tasted the filling - it tastes more complex than the number of ingredients. Thank you!!!
Oh my! You are so very talented in the kitchen! Inexplicably I became chronically intolerant of mushrooms in late '96, and I miss them so much; however, my Uncle will simply adore these mushroom turnovers. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. :)
Definitely going to make these. Don't think I've ever made pastry with cream cheese but looks really good. My daughter and I both love cheese and mushrooms so perfect! Going to stay in a holiday cottage in a couple of weeks with family so taking them with me. 😊
I've been enjoying your excellent dessert recipes for years, and was surprised to find this savory. Immediately saved and tried it yesterday. It's superb! I baked off half of them and froze the remainder for a quick but elegant party hors d'oeuvres. Along with your other viewers, I too would welcome more savories. I must tell you, I've never been disappointed by any of your recipes - they are well written, accurate and delicious. The videos are well-done too....please keep up the great work.
Love these. Have made several times. Although I like the cream cheese pastry which is incredibly easy, I find I prefer a regular dough. Also I sometimes add finely chopped walnuts to the mushroom mix. I live alone and just make a batch and keep in the freezer. Because of that I also add the parsley last to the mushroom mix as I don't want to overcook it. LOVE your videos and recipes.
I have made many of your recipes. I love the step by step instructions. One of your recipes I have made several times if your Coconut Crème Pie. It is wonderful and turns out perfect every time. Now, I am going to try your mushroom turnovers. I think my family will love them. And, I really enjoy seeing you cooking something besides pies and cakes, though I do love them.
Hi Stephanie, thank you for this and many other wonderful recipes that I've added to my repertoire! Everything has been easy to make, delicious and in many cases, disappeared very quickly. I would also be interested in your cookbook should you ever decide to publish one. It's also great that you have an Airedale - we've been owned by two monsters (the 100 lb plus variety) and they were always in the kitchen waiting to provide their editorial opinion on what was being made (or just hoovering it up when no one was looking). 1 million plus subscribers agree with me, you are an amazing baker and an even more wonderful presenter! Looking forward to more!
Thanks for sharing your recipe, Stephanie! I tried it and would like to share my experience, so that perhaps others may benefit. 1) I used low fat cream cheese. I will NOT do this again. The dough needs the full fat to work well. My dough was not as elastic as Stephanie's, so it was hard to handle. After baking, my turnovers had cracks running all over the surface and the pastry did not have layers. The cracks did not affect the integrity of the dough, i.e. there was no leaking of the filling. 2) The dough really needs some salt. 3) If salt is not used in the dough, one needs to really make sure the mushroom filling is well salted to your taste. My filling tasted great by itself, but the turnover as a whole was a little bland. 4) The mushroom filling was delicious. However, coupled with the cream cheese pastry it was too much tanginess. So, I would use regular cream in the filling instead of sour cream next time. 5) I found it was difficult to handle the tiny 3.5" diamter dough. I cut mine to 4" and it barely took 1.5 tsp if filling. I was able to make a total of 16 turnovers. 6) I only did a light coating of the egg wash. Next time I would be more heavy handed on the top of the turnover, leaving the crimped edges lightly brushed as they do brown more easily.
Thanks for the recipe Stephanie! They're so simple to make - even the pastry doesn't look so intimidating!!! To be honest, I've never heard of cream cheese in the making of a pastry, but it definitely changes the texture. It's so smooth and pliable, it reminds me of 'fondant' somehow.
You are a joy to watch Stephanie. Your carrot cupcakes always turn out superb for me & the family raves about them. Will most definately be trying these mushroom turnovers for my vegetarian friends. Happy New Year. :)
Great recipe, Stephanie. Thank you. That dhow looks like the Cornish pastry dhow.I am Portuguese and I've never been in Cornwall, but I look for many recipes in other countries. that looks like it. Thank you.
What a wonderful change of pace! Just in time for holiday get together's. Thanks for a great recipe. Hope you and your family have a safe and happy New Year.
I’ve been following your delicious recipes for a while now, everything I baked got good compliments! May GOD bless you, your family and Baxter with a healthy New Year 2018!! Thank you so much!!🌺

And that was your last video of 2017!! Happy new year to you and your family I love watching your videos I can't bake but watching you makes me want to try 😀
Joy, thank youfor all your great recipes! I have made so many things from you and I will be making these turnovers for New Years party. Thanks again and have a very Happy New Year!
I diced up bacon into tiny cubes then fry in very little butter. Removed set aside. Followed her mushroom recipe except used 1/3 of the butter and just after the sour cream added the diced bacon and use to fill turnover. Served the turnovers with a rocket/diced tomato and avocado salad on the side for diner with two glasses of chilled lemonade. It was amazing.
I watch this channel just today of the first time and I liked really and I like how you make food like I made in the home not another cook channel show so i like your channel and you ❤️❤️
Thank you for making this channel available. Love your recipes..they always turn out so well. Will definitely make these turnovers to celebrate the New Year. Happy New Year 2018 to You! 😙😙🎉🎆🎊🎏
This is an excellent tutorial. I too made them in the 1980s and am reviving them for a party. My one concern is that people do not put too much flour on the rolling surface, because that does risk making the flour proportion too high and the dough dry and stiff. Other than that, this is what I do.
Happy new year 🌹❤️I wish you the best in this year , I wish you happiness in your life 😍💐. I love your canal. You have so sweet dog , he is so lovely❄️🌲☃️🐶
Stephanie... you are a just the best .,, simply the best ! This looks so yummy and definitely I will make this ... thank you again for sharing your wonderful recipes . Happy New Year 2018 to you and your family. Nicki.
I love your videos. you're so easy to listen to & you give great instructions. no drive ya nuts music. thank you for sharing your talents. Im wondering if we can use gluten free flour for this? be blessed
Made half a batch last Saturday and my family and I loved them. I substituted cheddar cheese for the sour cream as the latter would be too tangy for my taste. But we couldn't taste the cheese, and it bulked up the turnovers and made a bit of leakage. Next time I'll leave it out completely. Thanks for the recipe!
Hey was now going to say the same thing i agree u are by far the best have seen its a pity i dont look at u as often as i should i just think that ur videoes are a bit to long. But i get that it has to be for u to teach us the right thing. Good job keep it up.
I may have some puff pastry stashed in the freezer. If not I might try this later, with a hand mixer. It's so cold here, I'm stuck inside for a few days, so I have a hankering to bake something, lol. I do have some fresh mushrooms I got the other day, perfect!
Joy is my favorite chef I love her demonstrations . She makes cooking / baking fun and gratifying. Thank you for sharing your expertise.
