Great review thanks, is there an ESU analyzer that you do recommend?
    Thanks

I'm a biomed 1 just out of training so take what I say with that in mind. I am so glad I'm not the only one having trouble with all these different connections! I thought it was just my lack of experience showing but if you guys are having trouble too then it's clear that these are poor designs. I am former Air Force and at least there we had a channel to recommend improvements to the contractors. I wish we had that in this field!

Could you do a vid on the steps using the Datrend analyzer on a force triad?? Very frustrating!!

I no longer have access to a Datrend esu analyzer. Isn't there a force triad in the tablet model templates? I bet if there is - it's a LONG pm procedure.

I think you would like the BC Group 2300 analyzer. It's simple like the 454 and with the external loads you can get up to 10000 ohms.

I have used the BC analyzer before and it actually has some interesting features - although its large

Just a question on something non diathermy related as I saw the stand in the background, what do you do for ppm on an airvo ? We just do a basic function check as per OEM but We have loads of failings / faults with the backlight screen failing & they are non repairable devices which bugs me cause a screen swap out is possible.
P.s. I use the Fluke QAES2, which is a lot like the 3 but simpler to set up & use, but heavy when lugging around.

Interesting. In the USA, diathermy is more of a physical therapy process using electronic waves to internally heat tissue. In the USA, these are cautery / electrocautery/ electrosurgery. I never knew that elsewhere referred to this by another term.
As far as your question, we do service these items but most hospitals have agreements in place to do an exchange whenever a unit is defective.. the screen should certainly be obtainable aftermarket. The unit in the background will not turn on and it has no DC Voltage on the main board.

So you do take them apart ? Cause Fisher & Paykel instruct you never to open them up. I only did so because they would not warrant an exchange as like you said they usually do, so we had to purchase a few new ones. I assume your ppm is a function check & est ? & Yes we refer to what you describe as shortwave therapy/ diathermy over here. You are correct in your statement,it is electrosurgery using high radio frequency currents which in turn generates heat in the tissue which vaporises the intracellular fluid causing pressure to build & erupt the cell wall, so I assume that’s why they class it is as diathermy ?

Are these demo units? The Datrend has OEM installed sequences which looks to be the 200+ step process you are seeing. Datrend also lets you make your own sequences so you should be able to trim the OEM sequencing down to something more manageable. Our shop is looking into upgrading soon and we had Datrend looking like the most likely route to go.

      Not demo units. Purchased units.

@@BetterBiomedChannel Might see what the process is for making your own sequences. Would like to see a follow up video on that process!

What do you think about the Rigel Uni-Therm? Need to considere de best option for Service Department.

If I see one tomorrow I will give an impression. Let's see.

One thing I am interested in is the uni-therm graphs the power measurement over a variety of patient return resistances. That is fascinating. Just attach a graph to the work order and you've proven the ESU for both output power and for patient return sensing.

Welcome to the results of engineering by committee.

Yes. Both units need a multifunction port (much like a defib multiport twist connect) and each cable has a pinout for a type of esu. - including an inline patient pad resistor.
The days of banana plugs and switchboard operations should be long gone. Connect at both ends and go. The routing of those wires can be internal on the analyzer pcb.
Fluke really let me down with that display and poor (non intuitive) jack layout.

@@BetterBiomedChannel Unfortunately, the best i can tell you is to try an get in contact with the marketing groups at these companies and try to get these changes on their road map. Maybe these companies do voice of customer activities you can get in on. Then sit back wait a few years and hope.
The fluke does appear to have inbuilt Bluetooth in some countries. Might be able to communicate with it through that.
The vPad already has WIFI or Bluetooth and an App. From a technical standpoint it should be easy enough to just change the interface on their end. No idea on the regulatory nightmare that would entail.
You could also rig up something by yourself, the command structure is all there for the vPAd its just a matter of writing the software to do the talking and if that would violate regulatory stuff.
As for the more mechanical issues, may i suggest Velcro. Does that tablet have wireless charging by the way?
Not the best solutions but we got to make do with what we got.
