  • Violent crime in South Africa has reached alarming levels, with the state's capacity to address this escalating issue becoming increasingly limited. However, the question remains: Are South Africa's political parties treating this dire situation with the seriousness it deserves? At the Free Market Foundation (FMF), we believe the answer is no.
David Ansara - CEO of the FMF, and Martin van Staden - Head of Policy at the FMF, discuss the importance of placing the violence crisis at the forefront of the 2024 election season.

We need boots on the ground; Anc spent funds on cameras; helicopters; fancy cars; 600 million for food and travel for Cele; yet no police officers on the streets or manage crime as they are part and parcel of the criminal syndicates and cartels; illicit trade is huge in the Anc and associates

Yes boots and far far more important those boots need to be filled with men and women who are chosen through a thorough compatibility test for those who have a predisposition to serve their community. Then they must be trained by the best we have to protect and serve their communities, get paid well so that they aren't constantly looking for nefarious opportunities. Zero tolerance culture cannot be taught overnight. I am hopeful we still have enough good people around to mentor.

When De Ruyter exposed organized crime in Eskom and all he got was threats from govt and they even tried to delete him... that should tell you everything you need to know about why there is no will to take care of the crime problem.
