- Images created by AI are getting exponentially better, to the point where many people are unable to separate them from the real thing.

As this technology continues to develop, challenges to our perception of what is real are immense, and our trust in what we are seeing is eroded. These fake people are already changing industries such as modelling and marketing, but can they offer a more diverse reflection of humanity than has historically been available - or are they destined to reflect the narrow standards of beauty these industries have long been drawn to?

#AI #ArtificialIntelligence #BeautyIndustry
Imagine wasting your time away, scrolling through Instagram, looking at people that don't even exists. What a world.
even if they are real people, how is it any less a waste of time??
@@benjaminollis7621
Agree, instagram is a waste of time
Getting people more and more disconnected from reality. Wow...this is pathetic.
Sora makes videos almost indistinguishable from reality. They’re calling it a “world simulator”. When that tech gets perfected (which is gonna happen pretty soon) people will literally be living full time in simulations.
If you don’t believe me - Look up the vids Sora is generating. This technology exists TODAY.
"outdated beauty standards" who are you people to say what someone should find beautiful?
Wait, you are telling me it's only becoming a concern when the "beauty standard" is on the stake and not the fact that anyone cam use it to decieve or be used for malicious purposes
the beauty standards are not outdated. they're beauty standards that resonate with people, and those who don't look like that, to cope, say the beauty standards are outdated.
Exactly, it's easy to see if one just looks at art through the centuries.
"outdated beauty standards" who are these people to say what someone should find beautiful?
Objective beauty is real....
i mean, that's easily disproven by the fact that beauty standards differ between people, across cultures and through time. now if you accept that, the question of how and why you find beautiful what you find beautiful is worth exploring.
those spanish aitana creators have absolutely lost their mind
Would explain the dude's 'devil with forked tongue' tat on the palm of his hand at 2:14 ...
They’re just surviving day to day man. If you had a way to make money (IE an easier existence) you’d take it too. Let’s not judge people for surviving.
I do and have had, and i chose no because i have morals. Plenty of people have opportunities to exploit others every day and choose to live a decent life.@@king4bear
Humored me how the woman with glasses looked like she was grappling with her own morality most of the video
@king4bear 'suviving day to day' ... Ooooh, those poor babies! Where did you get that actually? First thing I find when searching for 'Aitana AI' is this:
"Aitana López, a 25-year-old pink-haired woman from Barcelona, is the first Spanish AI model created by Rubén Cruz and his agency, The Clueless. She has amassed 124,000 followers on Instagram and earns up to $11,000 a month from ads."
So, tell me, just because I'm curious: When in the need to make money, is then anything justified, because one just has to survive 'day to day' with a 'dog eat dog' mentality?
This is so dumb, of course they will make attractive ai models because that's what people want, "diverse models" don't appeal to anyone so only big companies that can weather the losses can use those. Kami got a luxury brand collab but would completely fail on instagram.
It's not what people want, it's what they're conditioned to like. And Kami is gorgeous, a lot of gorgeous, dark-skinned women are successful on Insta.
Not everything is meant to appeal to everybody.
@@Anteksanteri True but in that case it wasn't meant to appeal to anybody, just to pander.
A split is coming. "Vogue Human" "Vogue AI".
Which is worse? Open to debate....
Ah. Makes me think twice about talking to a women on a dating website. I could be falling in love with a computerized person. The real lady does not even exist. 😂
Completely Agree👍🏻
Meaning it's time to ditch the apps and speaking to people in real life. 😁👍
@@taridean Easier said than done when (insufficiently attractive) men who approach women IRL are treated like criminals.
you ever come across the subreddit girlsarentreal
@@CC3GROUNDZERO Totally understandable what you're saying, however it's a lose lose on apps for the average bloke anyway 🤷🏾♂️. At least in the real world you can learn how to tell who's worth your time pursuing or not by reading the loudest form of communication, body language. Remember, the world is a big place.
These aren't outdated beauty standards, they're objective beauty standards.
"outdated beauty standards" who are these people to say what someone should find beautiful?
Is always the weird people that complain about "beauty standards".
Exactly. Beauty standards are set by what people find beautiful. A model that isn't beautiful wont be a model unless people find her beautiful.
Bad news for the shallow people who already allow themselves to be heavuly manipulated by fashion, trends, instagram and marketing.
These sorts of people will be increasingly unhappy as AI further diminishes their self-worth.
This guy’s pink scarf is the best part of the video…you can’t make that with AI 😅😅
All I could think was, "Where did you get that scarf?! I want one!"
Yeah it looks really cute lol
😂😂
6:09 if anyone's wondering
ya its the only personality he has judging from his ignorant comment lol
Beauty archetypes (which are related to, but not synonymous with, beauty standards) are eternal. They cannot be ‘outdated.'
It's still early days. Where is this technology going to be 5 years from now...?
Well, as long as the images warn viewers that the models are AI generated its all fine, its not really worrying TBH, because as someone said in the video, conventional fashion also uses a lot of smoke and mirrors, the problem is not if its real people or not because its based on real people after all the problem is the same and AI is not the solution, it just adds more fuel to the same fire instead.
People dont need representation in videogames where everything is supossed to be fantasy, but i would support it in videogames trying to represent the real world, like GTA for example. I think the issue is people fighting against representation, i mean its up to the developers to put whoever they want in their games, you may not like it and thats cool, but whinning about it and boycoting? thats beyond an opinion, thats just being a bigot in disguise.
Whats really worrying is using AI to impersonate politicians and social figures, as well as forging false evidence and alibi, among other things like fabricating false conversations and/or videos that harm people's lives and reputation. THAT is the worrying part that MUST be directly regulated NOW as well as producing new laws to protect citizens.
they need competition
I second that concern.
Great point about the potential negative impacts of AI.
look to the left at 2:06
AI beauty standards: the male gaze under layers of synthetic pixels erecting itself across lit screens
Women have been surprisingly responsible for imposing a lot of these high standards as well.
@@josephkolodziejski6882 women are solely responsible. Most men don't care
@@thanhvinhnguyento7069How come that 75% of her followers are male then? Obviously in this case men are pushing the success of this AI influencer
5:02 We're already backwards when we set a beauty that's less s than the standard. Who wants to look at fugly? That's why they're called models. If you want to see fugly you'd only have to walk out on the streets and see most of the same thing more or less every day. If you're just average looking then it just defeats the purpose of wanting to strive for a certain type of beauty when it's like you can just be yourself and there is no point in even buying those magazines.
Lol my ninja said " the best turtle in the world"
Models have always been artificial anyway...
Go play outside. Enjoy what’s left of Earth ya know?
so it looks to me like the model industry is the next one to be affected by AI. lots of aspiring models are probably gonna lose their jobs to AI
Humanity is doomed.
always was and always has been and always will be, imagination and ideals are forever unachievable as they are by definition not achievable, we are already doomed the moment our ancient ancestors first emerged as micro-organisms
you realise that boomers decades ago said the same thing right?
Not because of this specifically, but your conclusion is a possibility with rising odds.
They are obiviously not outdated.
I don't perceive a significant issue here. Beauty, in its broader sense, encompasses art, which surrounds us regardless of whether it's AI-generated or not. Why be concerned over something that doesn't, and never has negatively affected us? Art is art, when used and accepted in context.
However, concerning employment, my perspective differs slightly.
Currently, AI holds the potential to displace numerous workers. And in reality, has already affected humanity economically.
Yet, AI's capabilities are limited; it can only replicate what's been done before, albeit faster. I have yet to witness genuine creativity from AI-generated content, that doesn't/hasn't evolved into a psychedelic mess. Although this too may change in the future.
Alternatively, we, as consumers, may eventually decide that creativity's origin isn't crucial. Nevertheless, the impact of human-human interaction versus human-AI interaction on humanity remains uncertain and is something I or anyone would find challenging to comprehend the direction of.
No one knows the future; which is both exciting and terrifying… depending on independent point of views.
Atana is rude asf
Of course she is honey, she's too sassy & fabulous for mere mortals
We chose greed over life ......we don't deserve life
Excellent video. Thank you so much for the insights.
Con artists all of em
The fashion and trends industries have been con artists for centuries
Hopefully AI will take over journalism and be rid of trash publications like the Guardian
I'm not sure if it's bothering me and that is disturbing. 🤔😱🤯 I kind of think the world just changed.
The only outdated thing here is this news, literally anyone can create their own model
It's becoming difficult to recognise journalists. Mind, that's been the case for years now...
Victoria no/less make up : )
there are a few real humans still left
I don't know this still seems so overhyped...I mean it's undoubtedly going to "transform" a lot of service industry in terms of it being a new tool to use, but it's like a new religion across the media.
Don't worry, it will shake out once the media (and their audience) actually understand the technology. I remember the same thing happened with "cyberspace" in the 90s.
I hate absolutely everything about this.
Ai help to realize human, what is being.
non issue
Yikes
Important discussion.
Outdated beauty standards
Crazy how tech try shape what's beautiful, leave that to real people.
They talk about " her " as if that AI creation was a real life 😂😂😂 crazy Spanish youth.
Move over regular humans AI is over taking over and the only ones that can stop it are the same ones letting it happen
beauty standards never change
tall handsome guys always win same with short cute girls with symmetrical faces and slim bodies and wide hips
But Aborignals who are naturally short, stocky and have wide noses and protruding foreheads because they adapted to the dry Australian desert climate, would they find the same traits attractive if they had never come into contact with the outside world?
Wow, you mean to tell me that software trained on old pictures will create images based on old pictures?
Fashion has been a form of disconnecting people onto a “new version.” That being said, fashion has played it’s own role with human trafficking. AI will break such a process. 🎉
As there are over 8 billion people on this planet, the odds of someone looking like an AI generated character are quite big.
interesting video, but as always with mass media pieces, the so called "main" message of the video gets thrown to the roadside to be able to talk about other completely unrelated problems which are a completely different topic in and of itself. In other words; Shallow.

This is an incredibly interesting subject. Too bad that diversity bigotry had to be stuffed in and steal most of the video
I find it most concerning when we have the literal commodification of a woman's image and REAL woman are involved in this "business". what a joke world
You think AI is the origin of body commodification, and that women haven't been involved in it? Makeup, airbrushing, implants, hair extensions, skin toner?
Yer well tough. They do it better.
Why programs police looks?
This video breaks RUclipss tos.
AI produced two bald black women? What a shock lol.

Wow, don't make me laugh. What progress? Have you actually seen the fashion industry (at large)? These AI generated pictures are actually more or less as real as the pictures of models. First of all, model would be all covered in makeup. Secondly, everything is made "perfect" in post production.
Fashion done by math?
