    In the Loving memory of JOhn Brown, He's truly an UNSUNG HERO. He fought for what was right and his 5 Glorious sons followed his example. He was a true Rightous man, and his Memory will NEVER BE forgotten. He was a TRUE AMERICAN HERO, like Harriet Tubman. I will add this along with my video's on my favorites. IN LOVING MEMORY OF JOHN BROWN.

    • @Strawberry-12.
      @Strawberry-12. 4 года назад

      Sweetist Princess I’m definitely late. But comparing Harriet Tubman who is a hero. To John brown who is maybe an anti hero, I mean he did want to free slaves but he also killed a lot of people and was a little crazy

    • @Borderose
      @Borderose 4 года назад +3

      @@Strawberry-12. Slavery itself was crazy. I say John was justified in his violence. I think of him as desperate rather than deranged. For every year that passed that the slavers did their worst he saw more and more people suffer and fall for laws and enactments he considered deeply unjust and unholy.

    • @Strawberry-12.
      @Strawberry-12. 4 года назад

      Hakuraita your right that slavery was crazy. But I do think at the very least he could have made a better plan

    • @Borderose
      @Borderose 4 года назад +2

      @@Strawberry-12. Well, tactics-wise. Yeah, I kinda agree. John was banking in the idea that his raid on the armory was gonna be enough to inspire the slaves in the area to rise to arms. It clearly didn't work. Otherwise, he would have had a longer, bloodier campaign. What John should have done, in my amateur opinion, was to raid isolated plantations one by one and hide his men in a network of safehouses they can move around in as well as train in secret. He should have focused on the ruralities inspiring/gathering men and supplies along the way as well as not attracting immediate federal attention. With this change in target, his lack of arms should not be an immediate concern as the slaves/freemen/abolitionists willing to join him could easily take over some country plantations with machetes, spears, and maybe some bows and slings. Which they'll replace with guns as they kill more and more armed men or get in touch with some black market or callous/sympathetic arms dealer. In my estimation, if the need does arise for John to attack some federal property, his call to arms would be much more convincing if he had at least 600 men in his command and established a small rebel state of his own--something that gives the slaves confidence that they can be taken care of and stand a fighting chance should they rise up in revolt with him.

      You know the first slave owner in American history to be legally recognized by a court of law was a black man right? His name was Anthony Johnson. He filed a lawsuit in Virginia in which he demanded lifetime ownership of another black man named John Casor. He won the lawsuit and Casor became his property. It had never happened before. And then there was William Ellison from South Carolina. He was also black and owned 68 slaves. He was notorious for how badly he treated them and even white slave owners filed complaints against him for the mistreatment. But what made Ellison even more despicable is that he was also a slave BREEDER. He would impregnate his female slaves and then sell the children.

    Translating the story of John Brown to the Sahasrara Chakra, has a great effect, not only in acknowledging the liberation of the past, but of allowing wisdom to further liberate us each day, sometimes the awakening we feel can be a bit bumpy but eventually they always smooth out, theres no limits to the bliss we can feel if we live in wisdom. I'm so glad I took the time to learn a bit about the chakras, what a great fit.

    If John Brown was a murderer, then so was George Washington. What makes ones rebellion just and the others unjust? In some ways, one could argue that John Brown’s was the higher moral ground. Violence is never the right choice, but when you give people no choice, then violence becomes what seems to work. We should never let it come to that. Instead of using the Bible to rationalize bad behavior, the “christians” of the South should have lived up to the love that a true Christian should show toward another human being.

  • @verdew8181
    @verdew8181 12 лет назад +1

    John Brown was not violent at heart. He had a workable plan for guerrilla warfare with widespread liberation of slaves, minimal killing, and respect for pro-slavery prisoners of war taken. This plan really could have worked if things had not gone wrong and he had gotten out of the town quickly after the raid. He was ready to give his life for this cause. That's a rare trait. Worldwide there is always plenty of oppression to fight, and not for an unjust government in an unjust war.

    @timmarshall63 Taking this into account, it is clear that John Brown was merely attempting to finish the war which the Southern colonies had begun the moment they introduced slavery to North America in 1619. In order to accuse John Brown of being a cold-blooded murderer, you must also accuse every human being who was ever willing to fight and die for human liberty as well.

He would impregnate his female slaves and then sell the children. You'll not hear about them in school. You might also find the story of Heyward Sheperd interesting. He was the first person to be killed by John Brown at Harper's Ferry. He was a free black man and worked at the Harper's Ferry train depot. When John Brown's raiders arrived at Harper's Ferry the very first person they encountered was a free black man named Heyward Sheperd. He was the baggage master at the train depot. Browns men approached him and demanded that he surrender but he refused. As he walked away they shot him in the back and killed him. Ive always found it ironic that the whole intent behind the raid was to strike a blow against slavery and racism yet the very first victim was black. Seems a bit counterproductive.
