My favorite camera body of all time. Killed me when the fx6 put both audio inputs on the handle. Bought anyways, but I was with you on that. Great videos!
IMO FS5 is still an amazing camera above all with raw output and Atomos Shogun 7. Thank you for your clear et comprehensive review .One more subscriber !
Thank you very much! I'm buying an FS5 and some lenses from someone today for a stupidly low price and have been reading and watching lots of reviews. I've wanted this cam since it came out (went with the Panasonic DVX200 instead and not sure that was the best decision!) so the subject of this review was on-point for me. Yes, still viable in 2020 for my application. Thanks!
Definitely the FS5 is a much smarter choice than a DVX200! Although take a look too as the FS7. The FS7 is still very relevant and they're so cheap now on eBay! I just purchased a Sony FS7, and it is nearly 2021. But after six years with the Sony PMW-F3 I felt it was high time for an upgrade.
@@SoundSpeeding I've used the FS7 a few times, it's a bit heavy for my needs. But the guy was for real and the FS5 was in perfect condition. So far I'm loving it. And one day I'll upgrade to the FX6...
@@passthesalt2000 the FX6 is the best of both worlds! Great specs and yet super tiny itself. But the price and power of a FS7 is too good for me to ignore. And an FS7 is still an extremely lightweight and power efficient camera by cinema camera standards.
@@passthesalt2000 I reckon I'll buy a FX6 myself as an FS7 upgrade, in another five years once the FX6 is as cheap as the FS5 is now! What price did you pay for yours?
I think given the cost of this camera, at the moment people would be better waiting for the FX6. It's a bit sharper and the FS5 should get a price drop closer to the FX6 release.
Love your videos! Wondering could you recommend a camcorder for recording high school soccer, stationary, from up in the press box/bleachers? Looking for something with nice zoom that would work well at night. Between $1000-2000.
hey man!!! do you have a cheat sheet for the best settings to use this camera. I am a beginner and cutting in premiere. My footage doesn't look anything like yours. lol.
Great video. Love your work. Which lens would you recommend for shooting football/soccer on the A7s III? Sony 100-400, 200-600, 70-200 or even Sigma 100-400?
Does your fs5 experience focus hunting in auto mode with face detection? I was shooting a speaker, his face was always mainly to the camera, and almost once every half a minute or so the camera starts changing focus and focusing on the same face again
@@makosports Sure, I know this. But does it with your camera? I mean, if you are going to vlog, you might want to set it to autofocus, but it's useless if it begins hunting unexpectedly even when the object doesn't move. In fact, that's like the autofocus feature is not available at all
I also have a Sony FS5 MK II I like it a lot but I’m new and struggling a bit with a few things. But how long did it take you to get used to using this camera?
@@makosports WB has been a big problem for me know in school they want you to be in full manual mode. Do you use anything in auto like WB or focus? I’m just curious to see how true it is cause I hear a lot of people are using auto focus but everything else in manual or auto WB.
@@makosports Promo stuff. Local small businesses. Some real estate. Possibly weddings *blugh*. Music videos as well but more for artistic endeavors than financial. I haven't upgraded since I bought my 80D, so I've been out the camera game for a minute as I've been solely an editor for the past number of years. I'm thinking this, an a7iii (not an siii, sorry), or a BMCC 6k Pro (built in ND filters). I'm selling off my 80D with all my lenses (unless I go the BMCC route which I'll stick with an EF mount) so I"m going to be starting from scratch essentially sans for sticks, some zoom audio (an old h4n, and a f1 lav), and a few lights.

This was very well done and answered a lot of my questions. Thank you for taking time out to make good quality content!!
Excellent breakdown.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING VIDEO
Coming from the prosumer ENG space, the FS5 is my favorite camera so far and I don't expect to upgrade from it anytime soon.
Thank you for this! I’m buying one of these used for a steal. You helped me decide on it!
Great Review! Thanks for going into so much detail!
Really great video. You definitely helped me narrow down my choices, thank you!
Awesome video man. I hope you see this. What size of memory card do you recommend for a full day of shooting?
On what camera
@makosports on the FS5 and BMPCC4k if you know?
