This lady feels safe because she’s part Mexican and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. She probably speaks Spanish with the local accent. I live in S Texas but I’m not from here and people know I’m not local. The kidnapped tourists seem to be African American and theres not many black people in this area so they would be obvious targets.
That’s the reason why they wouldn’t be targeted. Cartels are many things but not stupid. They don’t mess with Americans black or white .they know Americans don’t care about Mexican Americans so they mess with them instead. I’m Mexican American and I had family kidnapped and it didn’t make it national news . This smells like propaganda and there’s a fear Mexico agenda been spread , convincing enough it’s happening when the Mexican peso is becoming the strongest currency in Latin America. Knowing the United state government , 100% they have something to do with this .
She has a slight American accent when she pronounces Matamoros. Chicanos, aka Mexican Americans are still seen as foreigners in Mexico. That’s why they created terms like “pocho”, “Chicano”, etc., to refer to Mexican Americans, because the don’t see them as true Mexicans. She could still be a target because she’s a US citizen. There have been several cases of Mexican Americans getting killed, or kidnapped for ransom in Mexico. Many kidnappers assume that because they live in the US, they’ve got money.
I saw the uncensored version of that video with the 4 Americans. 3 of them appear to be deceased. Really sad. And to the group organization that says people are safer in a large group??? These Cartels carry long arms in body armor in broad daylight. Watch the video. They had all the time in the world and didn't care who was around. Stay safe out there. 🙏
For those going for cheaper medical/dental care, I totally get it. If you are in that situation you just have to take your chances. For any other reason, not worth it. 20 years ago, being in Baja taught me what REAL Mexican food was. The people were so nice, friendly, and welcoming. But the cartel wars make going there today just too risky.
