He asked me what I was doing hanging around. I told him what all that I went through and that I was there to get on Bandstand. He kind of chuckled and then he explained the process to me. Perhaps someone who knew how to jitter-bug can clue me in on how exactly it worked. The moves don't necessarily look choreographed, but somehow the dancers were able to coordinate their movements. How did the girl know when to twirl? How did she know when he was going to switch hands? I was so glad when the Twist came out! Now that was easy to do.
Judging from her graduation photo (0:24), I'm going to guess she went to Little Flower. That's where my cousin went, and the cap and gown look familiar. Since Carole is no longer with us, can anybody tell me if I'm right?
She went to West Catholic Girls High. My mom went there as well, I think they graduated together. My mom told us that she would have to change out of her uniform so the nuns wouldn't recognize them on TV or else! Sadly, my mom also passed away in 2013 at age 70.
Some enterprising people ought to get together and produce a contemporary AB. A definite lady like, gentlemanly dress code. We don’t need to assume young children are destroyed or rotten...I’m willing to bet young girls would adore dressing up like princesses and the guys would rise to the occasion of being a gentleman .. call the show something like Ballroom Dancing or something ..ordinary...

Gabriela Arellano ....someone said his name is Harvey Robbins. Something like that. He looks a lot like Jerry Blavat.
Back in those days they danced an practiced moves at home, but really you just knew what to do.
Dick Clark is only one who could do THIS.
Dick was the best!!! I miss him so much.
I remember a girl named Carmen who was my fav regular dancer. Anyone remember her or her last name?
Carmen Jimenez
Jane Causey Excellent idea! Thanks for the comment and for watching the ABdancers channel.
Was the movie "Hairspray" based on this woman's teen years?
