It wasn't the first smb he was meant for smb lost levels, also hummer team (the guys who made somari) did a bootleg mario world port on nes in 1995 and yoshi is there even tho the physics are a bit broken
if you did all stars, it would be cool if the styles changed throughout the song. including instruments. dunno for odyssey, but certainly on omega M turning to mario 3, and n64 music for the DS64 trio. and maybe for the mimiced voices in act 4? just a thought.

Honestly, M melting due to the lava makes more sense when you consider that Starman Slaughter is set in CoolRash's World 1-3, where the death is Luigi's corpse splattering apart rather than getting burned. Then again, the fire from CoolRash World 1-1 is present in the background of the original song, which could explain him melting.
