    Correct me if I'm wrong:
    Aesthetics: Isolation and cardio.
    Performance: compound and progressive overload.

    • @viniciusf9266
      @viniciusf9266 5 лет назад +10

      To have an aesthetic body you obviously will need to have muscles to show. To have muscles you will need to cause hypertrophy, and to cause hypertrophy you will have to expose your body to weights that it is not used to lift. So in summary, the progressive overload is also required to have an aesthetic body. But, unlike the case in which you want to increase only strength, in which you can get to use weights that will allow you to do a very reduced amount of repetitions, for example from 1 to 5, to reach an aesthetic body you will also use heavy weights but that allow you to do, for example, 8 to 12 repetitions, increasing the time your muscle becomes under tension and generating more hypertrophy.

    You are awesome. What you said is true. I am 61, i did workout for all the body parts for one half hour a day, 4 times a week until I am fully sweat out. I started to do lifting last eight month with dumbells and barbell curl only, including deadlift. Now I am able to lift heavy, just like you guys. Actually, my main purpose is to build strength and reduce my weight, as doing cardio for over years since I was 45, couldn't give strength and neither it reduce weight. However, with weight lifting, it seems that today, my muscles had developed very obviously too esp on my biceps, triceps, shoulders, lat, delt and I could also see my 6 pack hihi. My weight reduced from 88 kg, now I am 62 kg. The main thing is to set your mind to achieve these goals, with decipline, hard work and concentration. Never have dinner hihi. Its really really awesome. Tq bro.

    I do a Push, Pull, Leg split with body weight Mon, Wed, Fri. I get my core lifts in, burnout with negatives, then work on my mind-muscle connection and do corrective exercises with bands. I never miss these days, and just use a weighted vest, some trx style rings, and bands so I can get the workout in anywhere I travel.
    If I’m feeling it on off days, I’ll hit the gym and focus on compound barbell/dumbbell lifts for power and burn out aesthetic muscles afterwards. I’ll do whatever muscle group has at least a two day rest period. Then I wrap those workouts up with hiit training once or twice per week.

    Jeff you are soooo right about being a well rounded athlete. It is a shame alot of people in the gym these days think they are doing something, but they are not. They think their strong and just try a one dimensional approach. They can't even do push ups, dips, or pull-ups. And these are the young ones. I have trained since junior high school, and I'm 42 now, and I have to admit I did not get it right until about 3 years ago. That is why i like your channel you show us how to train like an athlete, an all around athlete. Thanks Jeff.

    • @VIVEKSINGHAV

    Hey Jeff, really big fan here.I admire you not only as a trainer but as a person, because throught the difficulties and the thousands of questions that I had about training which I was afraid to ask because they would make fun of me , you were there for me all the way with your videos.The problem that I am facing is a stiff left trap, something like a trigger point.For some strange reason, my left trap hurts like hell during my chest training thus taking over the exercise.I have no problem on the bench press, but for some reason whenever I decide to do incline dumbell press or cables or even pushups, I feel a huge pain on my left trap which forces me to stop the exercise not because my chest can't take it but because my trap starts killing me.I don't even train my traps so it's not like they are overdeveloped. You mentioned that specific problem on the end of the "HOW TO FIX A STIFF NECK"video and said that you could cover that it in the future.Could you make a video in order to give us your thoughs on this?Haven't found anyone with your knowledge about stuff like this, so I think you are the only who could provide an insightful solution.

    10 years ago I began going to the gym casually. I say casually because anytime I got serious, I would plateau with gains and progress within a month and stop going. I started like most people, on the machines. It's all I knew how to do and the pictures highlighting the muscles being worked were really helpful. Fast forward 8 years. Still skinny and a little soft as well. I decided it was time to try stronglifts 5x5 which is a pure compound lift program. I also began eating like a monster. 4k cals a day. The gains I made were unreal... until after about a year of doing that, I realized my legs were progressing waaaaay faster than all other muscle groups. Especially my chest. My chest turned into a small area of fat storage. My thighs were quite big and glutes. I looked good with a shirt on but with a shirt off you could really see how my upper body, especially shoulders chest and arms were lagging behind. So over the last 4 months I've combined both compound lifts and isolation exercises in a PPL program. My chest, within about 3 to 4 weeks gained a lot of size just from the pure increase in volume. My back has much more definition. I also cut down to a more sustainable weight. Abs are showing again. I may not fill my shirts as well as I used to, but my body is hard again and defined again. I think it's a much better look. And as for quality of life? I don't run out of breath when walking up stairs, breath heavily when bent over to tie my shoes or struggle to put my socks on cause of the slight gut in the way. Much better to be fit and lean, and strong.

    i should run this video as an intro to every client i meet , specially the big dudes who think they got it all together . The phrase "just because you look fit doesn't mean you are fit" can be summarized through this one video. People need to understand for an all round fitness you need to implement all rounded workout routine , which means getting off the bench for once and using those equipment (probably eating dust) like resistance bands , foam rolls , medicine ball and getting into the habit of stretching after workout. You can see my frustration already lol. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and i feel really inspired and happy to know my thought process in my training methods aren't too far from yours.

    Jeff, thanks for everything. I appreciate this video. I am 2.5 weeks off finishing the Total Body workout and this means I have, over the past 4 years. completed every leg of the AX trail. I am in the AX HOF...so that's pretty neat. At 50, I feel pretty great thanks to your hard work and teaching. Struggling with a number of injuries in the lat, shoulder, and chest areas, so I plan to weather the pain for a few weeks, and then take 6 months off from lifting. Focusing on HIIT and body weight work along with therapy of the injuries. After 30 plus years of lifting, unceasingly, I believe the old body is calling for a break. I'll look forward to either a new release by the end of my rest or perhaps rounding through NXT again. Hard to say, but I do have a boat load of options...honestly, for the rest of my life thanks to you. My best to your continued success and again, I thank you for your effort, commitment, and love for us out here in the field.
