My sister is a recently retired occupational therapist, mostly hands. She told me when they made hands for children that looked more human, flesh colored, like the one you show, other kids found it "creepy", were afraid. But when they had hands that were more mechanical, brightly colored plastics, etc, suddenly they are super heroes! The kids in their class gathered around, "Oh, COOL!" And the kids were curious how it worked, etc. Interesting.
Let me ask you something.witch looks better,an black eyepatch or a flesh colored eyepatch with an eye painted on it.
@@pipebombpete.6861 If you are 10 years old, a black eyepatch with a scull and crossbones painted on it... like one of my kids did when he had an eye injury.

As a mechanical engineer this really makes me sad. I don’t see how that design would ever make it past a prototype... did they not consult any amputees ?!
It definitely looks like a one-size-fits-all attempt at a solution. I wonder how much that thing cost.
Agree...I have seem much better... not a good company
Yeah it does seem like an temprory lower cost option.
As she said in the video they werent sure how she was going to deal with the amputation. Ghost limbs cause a real problem for many amputees. Temporsry prostetics is one way to deal with it.
That said this video is 2 years old and quite a bit has rolled out in even just the last 2 years.
To equal out the length I would have switched from the post and socket thing they have going on there to a twist and lock cup that goes right over the stump at least. You're definitely right, this is a crude co-opting of the standard hook design into a hand by someone who doesn't have the skills to design or fabricate either. They probably limited themselves to using her current arm socket rather than making a whole new one from the ground up as well.
Agreed. This looks like a very 1955 solution. Quite crude. I can only hope it was cheap.

My dear friend Kristie Sita....
I have to tell this, You are damn Awesome and Beautiful as compared to every good looking girl ; boy ; man or woman out there, who doesnt have any health problems but, still crib about their daily lives chores..... However, on the other hand, you are so Happy, Jovial, Strong, Doesn't complain ; Take every tough situation with fun ; Never leave that beautiful smile on your beautiful face and overall, You are a Wonderful Girl in all sense..... :):)
By just seeing you say and do something, makes each and every one of us, forget everything and anything and just wants to keep seeing you, because you have something special in you, I think, its definitely, you carry an Aura which is tremendously mesmerizing to all of us and please keep it up and never ever stop, because it makes all of us very happy seeing you with that beautiful smile :)
You are definitely an Inspiration to each and every one of us and I need to say, if I ever find a girl like you, I will immediately propose her to be with her for a lifetime without a second thought and thats a different thing, is she has to say Yes or No but, still I will not miss the chance though ;)
Oh yes, I'll love to support your channel as well :)
Take care..... God Bless you dearly.... And loads of love to you and I wish you a Very Good Day ahead dear friend Kristie :)
You are dissapointing!Make her one if its so easy.
it was made four years ago,,

As a prosthetic technician.... This prosthetic is bad work I get why you wouldnt wear it. I'm so sorry girl. The limb descrepency ... Why a pin and a boa? I get cosmetically youd want a hand but functionally? A hook is SO much better. I think youre a wrist disarticulation but even if youre transradial you should have a triceps pad.
I support you not using a device, hands are hard to replace, but know there are different options. Love your attitude and jokes tho great vid and I wish you the best!!
I don't know anything about that shit but I am a girl so I see why she doesn't like it one it's not her hand skin tone two whatever you said I git some of what u said but I agree and I'll agree to somebody who is a prosthetic technician an that's ur job so I agree and I'm glad she's not upset about that.. it wouldn't affect me much Aslong as it isn't my right hand cuz I'm right handed... but u gotta love her attitude! I give her all my favorite emoji s 🍫🍟🌈💗❤💖💗🍭
Cynjen W as a prosthetic technician, how do you feel watching so many amputees using their stumps, or other body parts in favour of prosthetics?
@@happyhorse1028
I am not a prosthetic technician but if a prostetic doesnt help or is annoying why wear it? It is supposed to make a positive impact. Sure with prostetics you first need to get the hang of it, so you should give it some time before you get rid of it.
I get that people who do manual labour take pride in the usage of their products, but they should be happy that she can live her daily life without having to worry to much about a prosthetic, as they can cause bruises and other uncanny side effects.
walking the moon are you an amputee yourself?
@@happyhorse1028 prosthetics arent for everyone. Without a leg device or with a bad leg device a person can develop spinal issues. But hands? They are hard to replace. They arent for every one and its a personal choice.

I barely have fingers on either hand and I've done just fine my entire life. Stick with the stump if that's what works best.
I was part of an art club. There was a teenage girl whom hands could be also described as "barely have fingers". I never saw her using any kind of prostetics or "tool" or anything other than the same drawing material than anyone else used. And she was a damn good drawer for her age.
I admit that impressed me.
My one friend is missing the point finger on his left (I think) hand and he does great without it. He even does band and is considered a god amongst the band. People can do anything.

Yasss!
At the very least they could’ve made it your skin color instead of mannequin tan. Frankly, the shoulder move required to operate the hand makes it seem like you have a twitch. I would so not wear that either.
It's depressing that the prosthetic is so poor in its appearance and functionality... We like to think we're so advanced these days but it seems like we have a very long way to go with this...
there are better prosthesis than this.
there are bionic arm+ hand that are more functional than this ...
the fun/strange side with bionic prosthesis is that while they do not look natural/real , they can look more cool than this kind of false hand.
Yeah definitely!!!
were so advanced that we even have them
im sure theyll have relatively inexpensive, easily controlled fully articulate hands arms and legs within 20 years. neuralink probably going to help a lot with that.
Everything is about money. How many people are amputee and how many of them are willing to pay for a prosthetic ? And how much are they willing to pay ? After you answer those question you realise that the market is very small. Because the market is small, the prices are high and the technology isn't that advanced.
Damn. Not gonna lie, it’s really attractive how positive you are about such a traumatic experience. It takes a very strong mind to achieve such feats. You’re very inspiring. 🙏🏾😌

Yeahh
This is an old prosthesis. What you're thinking actually does in some ways actually exist (there are even ones that can be linked to the brain!). It's just extremely expensive and people still seem to prefer their stumps. I read this in actual clinical research papers btw.
I agree this is just not impressive looking at all though. Such a static thing, it misses quite a bit of the dynamic structure of a normal hand.
I‘ve seen a motorized hand that worked with the slightest muscle-movements of the stump at a trade fair for orthopedic technology. It was amazing! They are indeed expensive but I’m amazed at one can be done for people who lose extremities nowadays

I lost my left foot when I was 8 years old, over 30 years ago. I can tell you that foot prosthetics are allot more useful at least.
Man, they saddled you with some seriously outdated tech...you need something like the bebionic with a short wrist option! Unfortunately bionic hands tend to be expensive :(
You seem to be thriving though and that's the important thing!
I can understand completely. My father was an amputee (left arm from above the elbow). He was fitted for a prosthetic, but he just felt more himself without it. It made no difference to me, I grew up with a dad with one arm. It never stopped him doing anything. In fact I truly believed as a young child that men naturally lost one arm, weird right. He was a hero, bless him. Good luck with your new hand!
Since the arm piece was so big I thought it was a myoelectric arm, where you use the signals in your arm muscles to open and close the hand. So I was chocked to see you needed a shoulder piece to be able to do that. I have only seen that in amputees of the humerus. Also, I don't know how it is in the states, but we in Scandinavia can order cosmetic hands from France, they hand paint their cosmetic hands and are really individual made and they are all a piece of art. Yes they are more expensive, but for the patients quality of life it's so much worth it. I understand why you don't want to wear that
Omg. I would throw this prosthetic hand into the next bin. Fully customized.. Pfff. You deserve so much better.

I love how you're so strong and confident about it. Everybody give her a big ha....um...just applaud.
I just saw another video that reminded me of this one, but you should look into getting an open bionic prosthetic. They cost around $3,000 but are so much more versatile than the one you have. They've got sensors that read your muscles and allow for full range of movement of the hand and individual finger movement like an actual hand. Very cool looking too, since they're pretty customizable.
The moment you put on the shoulder thing I fully realized why you dont use it, that would frustrate me so much
that prosthetic looks like its made in the medieval times... its wrong color, its fatter than your own hand (not that there is anything wrong with that), its too long and the mechanism is jank AF. I know this is bad for me to say since i got all my limbs, but if I lost one, I wouldnt want to make it look like a normal limb, I would want it to be functional. Unless they come up with technology which would allow me to use it like a normal limb. But I love your positivity, keep making videos.
They all look like that, I know it looks super funny even my "realistic" looking foot attachment is super yellow and bloated looking
what do you mean come up? this technology exists

The mechanism attaching the hand to the socket has to go somewhere. When the surgeon leaves the residual arm so long it leaves the prosthetic technician little choice.

It isn't about science; it's about art. This looks like a mass-produced piece to me. A skilled artist with experience in this field could make a super realistic hand... And yes, bionic limbs are also becoming more and more advanced, but the technology is still young from what I've read, and it's expensive. Who knows what'll be possible in 10-20 years though.
I personally would like to look lije a cyborg xd
Im so happy this video came on my “ recommend ” page

Why don;t you get a a 3d printer and make / design your own ? then you can have some to match your outfit or activity.
And once you have a 3d scan of yourself you will have a almost perfect fit.
I don’t know why it’s in my recommended, but it was really interesting, thanks!
This lady is personification of enthusiasm, determination and dedication!!!
These are the people I like to be inspired from!!!
*Btw why is this on my recommendation episode 109*
Fr
FRRRRRRRR
Been playing or watching videos of Sekiro? I got this recommendation too by looking up ninja prosthetic tools lmao.
Holy crap ikr
yea, same... I hope this is not forshadowing of some sort for either of us
You're so charming and charismatic lol, this was an interesting video and its really inspirational to see how you haven't let a bad thing ruin your entire life :)
Really well adjusted girl here. Great positive attitude. Smart and funny. I know lots of people with no missing limbs/parts that are not as functional in life as this girl is. Her enthusiasm is infectious.
(And she's so pretty it hurts).

Me:hey can you lend me a hand

Great video keep it up and sorry about what happened (new to channel 😓😓😓)❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That Joke Is From I am Frankie on nickelodeon
My friend after a few drinks wiuld take his hand off and put it on a girls shoulder . Great for shock value and laughs
My dads a double amputee and doesn’t wear prosthetics either but ur a beautiful girl!
Dadssss?
I love how positive you are despite that traumatic experience 💜
It makes a whole lot of sense why you wouldn't want to use it, but I found you explaining the prosthetic very interesting. Also, the base is super cute
Jamie Lannister strongly agrees.
And sends his regards to cosmetic hand manufacturers.
This is the first video I see from you. I'm not gonna lie... the first 10 to 20 seconds of the video I stared at your stump... and then got over it... then you put on the prostetic on... and it looked super unnatural... And i'm not talking only apperance... Like... it looked unnatural in proportion (length and size of the hand) and, as you demonstrated, unpractical. I am no expert in prosthetics but I know a thing or two about engineering and I'm sure there should be a way to make it more even and functional... still I do think it looks more natural (again, not only apperance) without the hand... That being said, best of lucks and lots of success in your life and I'm sorry if this sounded bad or offensive at any point...
couldn´t you just creat something that connects with the electrical waves of your brain so when you would move a finger with the prostetic your brain thinks it´s a real finger. That means it would send those waves through your arm and the prostetic connects at your arm a wire or something goes on to your head and it reads those waves so it can recreat the movements you want to make with your hand.
@@gaminghighlightsmoments5069 Oh, those already exist, but they are crazy expensive, not to mention hard to adapt to. It is very advance technology that hasnt existed for too long so it will take a while to get cheaper. There was the case of this kid that got one of those shaped like an ironman arm from RD Jr... very heartwarming... but yeah, that stuff is very expensive
Fernando Cabanillas oh we‘re getting 1step further every then for those People that are Dissbled in some way. And maybe one day those disablities like Hers can be easily fixed. Alltough i think later on for People that Hand something with their neck that are fully disabled we will someday have exo like Things that will be attached on to and in to your back.
I love how confident she is and I love how she keeps clapping her hands it makes me giggle but I just love it 💕
You're an inspiration I love your positive attitude! As much as it sucks!! you lost your hand, you've turned it into away to motivate others and you haven't let it hold you back. Loved watching you're video. PS: you're really pretty! congratulations on all your success!
That is the saddest prosthetic hand in the world🤣💀it looks like a nail salon manakin hand lol, I thought u were joking when u whipped it out😂🤣 no offense, u seem aight🥳
Sergi0Vega shut up
ya dude shut up and plus I think you found your match a manakin cause all you are is fake
Me too
Sameee
I think the biggest problem is the colour. I totally see how a prosthetic could be very useful physically and mentally for an amputee, but they didn't even try to match skin tones, and that ought to be the easiest part
You should get one of those custom ones that is electric with moving fingers and touch things and pick up stuff cause I’m gonna be honest they should have measured your arm and that hand is to big and looks cheap honestly
What do you know
@@evanmeader7139 whats your problem?
things like that cost around 60k most people dont swim in money bro
Evan Meader what up your ass.
You mean bionic arms?
If you want to get the sharpie off you can use some hand sanitizer and wipe it off
Eden Dancer2009 anything with rubbing alcohol
"What's a good feature for a prosthetic hand"
" _Yknow those 90's action figures with 'Kung Fu Grip' action features?_ "
" Genius, absolute genius! "
Lol like that dino on a grabby pole to reach things that are slightly out of reach 😂
Have fun wearing the prosthetic for 24 hours lol.
Granted I'm only missing 4 fingers, and I was provided with silicone fingers molded from my right hand, they take the finger casts and fill them with wax, and then they bend the fingers straight. the fingers have my actual fingerprints and all. they then take another mold of the wax fingers and a mold of my stumps, and they basically combine the two and they end up with a clear tough (thin) skin, and the prosthetics people start painting the silicone skin from the inside based on your skin color and tone and it's a perfect match. but there is no fingernail!, so they take premade fingernails (like the lady's wear), and then they take some string and unwind it so they have a bunch of threads and they glue that to the underside of the silicone. at this point, I was puzzled. well, no glue will stick to the silicone they use, but they just add some more silicone and embed the nail and the threads into it. now it's in place and will not fall off or even move. they then fill the finger with silicone and then shove the stump into it all the way to the base of the hand and clean up any excess silicone and let them cure with it on my fingers. and after that they check them and I could go home.
Now silicone has no strength so I cannot pick anything up. it's just for "looks", so my Prosthetics are designed to make everyone around me comfortable. and not to make it easier for me to do everyday tasks. because of that I only wear them to the VA Hospital to show other amputee's what is available (if needed).
Now there is a side affect to me wearing the prosthetics. and that is the fingers look freakishly long to me (in a disturbing way). The reason is, I'm used to the stump length, and my brain now registers that length at "normal" so adding on extensions to my stumps just looks freaky to me. (note: I lost the fingers 13 years ago (I was attacked by my truck engine, and it took a taste of me via the fingers using the serpentine belt "think fan belt" and spit me out minus the fingers) Note II: I do not recommend it.. lol I did first aid, but it was late at night so I just went inside the house, watched a DVD, and went to bed. I got up and drove to the hospital 45 minutes away in the morning, and they just shoved me into an ambulance and sent me to a big hospital another hour away. had surgery, and the hospital sent me to the first hospital via a cab (thinking someone would pick me up) and I got into my car and drove home) 8 years later they finally gave me prosthetics (silicone) and they are more disabling to me than the stumps.
the 13 years since amputation has resulted in a lot of atrophy of the stumps which has made them harder to use. but the one thing I never expected was the amount of atrophy of my left forearm which is 2 inches smaller in diameter now than my right forearm. and the atrophy extends to the shoulder which is greatly smaller than my right (weird).
The worst thing for me is hitting the ends of the bones on walls, counters and everything else that seems to jump into the way and make solid contact. That's Painful! as far as the prosthetic hand, being a guy I would have just gone with a hook device. the hand already looks different (unless your wearing gloves) so if it's going to look different, it might as well look like a hook device. at least people see that and say, big deal.. seen them before. but when they see a difference in the color between two hands, they will stare just to figure out what is going on. I would rather have something functional than pretty. But like I said, I'm a guy. Now Myoelectric Prosthetics is the way to go. you have actual fingers, and it's programmable for thumb position etc. you don't have any feeling or the ability to tell if what you are touching is hot (YET). lol I look forward to when they can add a functional wrist.
Hi beautiful person 💋 We have exactly the same, except opposite side. I was laughing so hard seeing you with that stupid fake thing. Probably I’m one of the few that can really relate and comprehend. I refused prosthetics from the start. Because I choose to fully except me and be the ‘new’ me and because I was told that in order to fit the right length they had to take off another 17cm and because function wise is very limited in operation. I’m so glad I refused the whole circus getting a prosthetic. The length will eventually be the thing you appreciate the most and in time there will be almost nothing you can do single handed. You are beautiful, gained a hard but most valuable life lesson. If people don’t except you as and for who you are, they are not worth you. You present the world a gift, it’s their loss when they don’t accept it! Stay strong and take care 💋
So who paid for that monstrosity? Jeez. Who thought that was a good idea? Oh the "salesperson" did.
The neighbor who I worked with fishing in the Ohio river lost his hand at 7-8 years old in the 1920's. He was 75 in 1996. He would bait multi-hook fishing lines with one hand and his stump. He'd work his boat while putting out hooks in a river with one hand and his stub. He worked in law enforcement, hunting, being a mechanic on his (manual) jeep, with one hand. He would lace-up 11" boots and his WW1 style snake protectors, with long laces and multiple boot hook eyelets with one hand. I still lace up my boots the same way (one hand) because my dad worked the river with him at 14-16 before I was born and taught me. He lived 90 years with one hand, no prosthetic. Do the same. He was right-handed and lost his left with a dynamite blasting cap. If you want to know his lacing technique and get some high boots to impress your friends and strangers I'll describe his lace technique.
I did this video. I'm glad I'm not the only one that hates them!
Right!
Omg hi
Omg I watch you !!! It's such a small world 😂😂
Isabelle Weall I’m subscribed to you
Who knew my like two favourite people are here wow
*Takes prosthetic hand off* “heh throw back” 😂😂❤️
There is a better way. Design, aesthetics, and function are three keys to a good product, especially prosthetics.
My remaining hand😂 glad to see u still have a sense of humour and u seem to cope real well! I once cut off my thumb at work but a good German hand surgeon re attached it and it’s actually 95% back to normal. Love from 🏴
You are the strongest girl i've ever seen
She is beautiful but so sad
Dragun Dilmurat she isn’t sad
Your sense of humour got me over here HOLLERING! When life gives you lemons... GIRL! You got this.
“You just take off this part of the hand..... ha, throwback.”
I’m really going to hell for laughing but like you made the joke so-
Glad to see that losing a hand hasn't stopped you from achieving your goals, keep it up.
