For the most part, I stopped caring about rookies, I just collect the cards that are from the sets I like even if they aren’t rookie year. For Kobe, I love the ‘97 Metal Universe, really cool design with the Death Star looking spaceship behind him. If I had to collect something from 1996, I’d take the E-X2000 set, probably one of the best set designs of all time. Rookies will always have a collector base, but for me they often end up being some of the worst cards produced for a player. If you put a 2003 Topps LeBron rookie next to a 2008 Topps LeBron chalk toss card and asked people outside the hobby which card is better, everyone would say 2008. It’s kinda crazy that most collectors would pay more for an objectively worse card just because it was printed during their first season. I understand it to an extent, but with how watered down rookies have become it just doesn’t make sense to collect that way, at least for me.
The Kobe 1996 Topps 50th and the E-X2000 will be most likely the only two I will have in my PC for his "RC". I agree with the 2008 Topps LeBron chalk card. Very unique card and its value is determined by collectability and not the RC label.
That card is a beauty, another COMC win for me. Just checked the price and was $42.25. I have nothing but look with raw cards and COMC. Thanks for watching!

Gotta mention that Ewing RC. It’s very well centered and those cards are notoriously off centered top to bottom.
