C9 has genuinely been improving. Still don’t think their drafts are good and their Marco is meh but their team play and teamfighthing have gotten a lot better

Can someone explain why you buy cull after first back. Why it makes sense gold wise?
You delay your first item to get an extra 180g later. If you are playing a low kill potential lane, it's better to get the extra gold early.
Dblade is too broken to skip in 99% of matchups. Even in slower matchups, skipping doran's is too greedy because you lose all agency in the lane and a pro-level player will deny you more cs than the value of cull. First base is the greediest viable cull timing nowadays. It's the same reason people dont start longsword + 3pot/refillable anymore and tears starts are very rare.
In general, it is actually pretty decent sustain and the cash in can accelerate you to your second item. Additionally, it's easy to grab if you do a 3 wave crash into base.
