The conductor influences the philosophy and feeling of the performance; and I feel Abbado's presence here. Easy and flowing; the musicians are a group swaying together; no stiffness here. Attentive listening to one another; encouraged by Abbado. And I love the closeups of the musicians.
Trio II from 16:53 - 17:50 always cheers me up no matter what kind of rotten mood I'm in, but truly every second of all the Brandenburg Concerti perfectly encapsulates Bach's supernatural transcendence.
I really like how this group broke my classical music idea that there was hardly any movement from the musicians. It really does something to see the musicians themselves move to make music and in turn respond to the same music by moving. The movement and music relationship is well displayed here
And I am shocked!! Horn 2 is using a single b flat. Horn 1 is on a regular old double horn, nailing every note. Usually for this piece it's the other way around!
All questions of original versus modern instruments vanish with these performances. The level of musicianship is so high it trumps everything else. A lot of this is due to Abbado, but the musicians themselves are peerless.
Wonderful This performance they play with exquisite skill and incomparable technology is beyond description , immeasurable , unfathomable and full of admiration and deep emotion , and comfortable to the ear and the mind From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
I prefer this rendition compared to the Freiiburger Barockorchestra. I know the Freiiburger are more "authentic" whatever value that has, but to my ears this is perhaps how Bach would have wanted it played in the 21st Century. Anyway it is all just opinions and interpretations and they are both very fine pieces of playing.
This version is better than Freiburg Barockorchester, because the tempi the Freiburg take are too slow and the horns sound significantly better here, granted they are valve horns, but still beautiful!
actually NK its similar to Spanish or italian, italian uses ZIONE a lot and Spanish uses CION,where English uses TION and the Portuguese use CAO but its all the same meaning, really. So if you want to say FRUSTRATION a safe bet is FRUSTRAZIONE FRUSTRACION FRUSTRACAO (totally guessing but it works a lot of the time) :) PS have you ever seen Enrique sing BAILANDO with Luan, they just blend the two languages together.
1st movement .. if you listen at 0.75 it makes much more sense... but I would think 0.9 would be ideal, would make the music grander.. this is the best of the best, should be treated as such.. By speeding it up it makes it lighter.. bagatelle-ish. (if you think I'm out of line.. KARAJAN seems to AGREE with me!)
This first Brandenburg concerto sounds very good on modern instruments. The pitch is higher and the sound is way better than on barrock instruments which is lower and not really my taste.
+Doubledude Dafuq Because usually these baroque concerts are performed by old instruments of said time to keep the original "feel" and sounds of the music. Myself I have nothing against this performance, there is no way to know how it really sounded even using the instruments of the time.
a conductor before this ensemble playing chambremusic, s 100% ridiculous...the members of the ensemble are so well educated musically spoken, that they could play the BC of J.S. Bach easily without Abbado...this is absolutely absurd.....
+benedetti Tell this to Berliners or Wiener. After it, this isn't the first time that Bach Brandenburg concerts are conducted by a third person (for example in BBC Proms), and surely won't be the last.

The best interpretion i've never heard. Italian pride.
This is the type of sound quality I like. There are worse recordings that sound like mud. So be thankful guys.
Exactly, well put !

I know the Brandenburgs well. This is my favourite moment.

Phenomenal job in the horn section. I don't think I've ever heard it better. They make it sound soooo easy!!
True. I love the bassoon. The oboes were also spot on.
And I am shocked!! Horn 2 is using a single b flat. Horn 1 is on a regular old double horn, nailing every note. Usually for this piece it's the other way around!
And ummmm... they left out the horn players' names in the intro!! Wtf?!?
First horn is Alessio Allegrini, not sure of the other.
The guy's right on the money. They both are very fine players. What a great ensemble!!
In questo brano, Bach dialoga con Dio. E’ la bellezza pura e semplice.
❤
Never in my life have I ever wanted to play the French Horn until today. They make it look so fun.
All questions of original versus modern instruments vanish with these performances. The level of musicianship is so high it trumps everything else. A lot of this is due to Abbado, but the musicians themselves are peerless.

Those Horns.. super sublime fantastik

Bach is beautiful
Superb!!! Great virtuosity and phrasing!!! 🎶📯👍

Yes, this version is very clear and i really like the tempo. Beautiful performance, got it on blu ray disc.
Anyone notice during all of the Menuetto parts the harpsichord is doing all these crazy ornaments but its barely noticeable!
Yeah is good : -D
They are playing pretty slow, is weird, are they tired or something? [:] 0
12:45 and 16:54 - Absolutely epic!!
¡Qué grande versión! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Increíble. Bach estaría orgulloso.
this sounds simply amazing. just loved everything, so good
Amazing!
Thanks for the video
Excellent horn players, supr

I agree
Magnífica apresentação.
Why is it that you Portuguese put ão in nearly every word?
It's like pig latin.

Hey, it's that guy from Grey's Anatomy!
Now i understand why there are Baroque chamber orchestras solely dedicated to play this style of music with period instruments.
Wauuuuuu! 😋😋😋😋

What is the piece played during the introduction?
It's the last few measures of the final movement of the 3rd brandenburg concerto.
16:54
Nailed it.
The trumpetist was the soloist & the director just waved at him from a distance. While he embraced the recorder & violinist. Are you crazy man?
flgmusicproductions
1.Its not director,it's a conductor.
2.There is no soloists in this Concerto.

Carmignola n.1 👍
I'm only here for the adagio THE BEST
Only 845 likes! people these days, only listening to very bad music like marshmallow, and then saying that classical music is boring.
In generale, li trovo troppo di corsa. Senza respiro. Ma è solo un parere.
All you guys be musical expert, here I am thinking what all the names of the instruments lol
Violin, Harpsichord, cello, to name a few
I think off the string at 15'45" is a misjudgement. Much better with a little body to the sound.
why are you all complaining avout the instruments and how they are too modern to perform this concerto?
+Doubledude Dafuq Because usually these baroque concerts are performed by old instruments of said time to keep the original "feel" and sounds of the music. Myself I have nothing against this performance, there is no way to know how it really sounded even using the instruments of the time.
one does not simply play baroque music on a valve horn. they are good but please, natural horns next time :)
Yes they are quite awesome.
Its a charm to play on the "real thing" though
Bach would probably have said "Wow, those new horns with valves sound so much better!"
it doesn't get as gangsta as this

that one guy is getting really red
Kris try to play this piece on double horn and let me know
Why the fuck are they standing

Yes they can play it but can they play it better with him ? maybe so.
no, It is an insult to these top musicians when there is a conductor in front of them and special if they play the BC by Bach
+benedetti www.theguardian.com/music/tomserviceblog/2014/jan/17/abbado-orchestra-mozart-shuts-down
benedetti I see, is it not a bit extreme to say it is an insult ? i see it more like a well meaning act, let the old man enjoy himself.
+benedetti Tell this to Berliners or Wiener.
