A quicker method i found is if you fill your polish remover cap with the remover and soak each nail in it for about 30-60 seconds the glitter will come off like regular varnish
I am so fortunate that you added this today! I did some intensely glittered New Years' nail art, and I'm dreading removing it. It's started to chip, so I was readying myself for the polishing removing of a life time, so thank you for sharing this!!
Love this tip! I've been a nail glitterholic lately but always hated taking it off because it takes FOREVER. I'll definitely try this the next time. Thanks for filming this!
I am seriously going to try to use the tinfoil method sometime soon. My fingers usually throb afterwards because I have to rub my hair fairly hard with the felt.
I've read about this method on many nail blogs. I really didn't think it would work that well. Wow, it works like magic! Will have to try this. I have on chunky glitter polish right now. Now I know an easy way to remove it. Thanks. Really enjoy your videos. Your camera work is good & the lighting is perfect. Drives me crazy when the lighting is bad. Your so professional & I thank you for it. Love your other channel also.
I used to get bio sculpture gel on my nails and this is how my salon would remove my the gel before i got the new gel put on. Also your natural nails are AMAZING!
I love this. I am so going to do this tomorrow! I despise taking off glitter polish! Also, your "how to grow your nails" video literally changed my life. My nails were always short and broke constantly. Now they are all long and beautiful and have been for a LONG time just from your simple phrase "treat your nails as jewels and not tools" I have told several people that and they always think i'm a nut when I tell them but thinking about your nails that way has helped their nails grow too :)
My mother loves glitter nail polish but recently she's developed RA in her fingers and wrists, so it would hurt her to scrub and scrub her nails when removing it. I will show her this and hopefully it will work out for her and she'll be able to wear her favorite nail polishes again. Thank you so so so much for uploading this, this will definetly make her life easier.
Fantastic advice! Works just as you said, though I did get some amused looks as I removed my polish on the front lawn. (BF hates the smell of polish and acetone!) I even shared the secret with a makeup expert at Sephora. He was delighted and wanted to try it immediately. I told him to watch your video to get precise instructions. Thank you!
im a cosmo student and this a trick that is taught and practiced in most salons. it also works great to soak off acrylic/gel nails and shellac. way better then filing it off.
@theladysamantha It's fine to use acetone and aluminium foil. Professional nail techs use it sometimes for removing acrylic nails [i am one] and I use this method for removing glitter polish from my nails all the time. It's much better than rubbing it back and forth, and the polish comes off in one sweep :) long as you moisturize your nails afterwards cos acetone is obviously quite drying :) xxx
You're nails look amazing right after removing the polish! Most of the videos I see show yellow, sometimes dark stains going on in the nails but yours look sooo healthy! How do you do that?
To avoid the drying of the cuticle you can apply some cuticle oil surrounding the nail. We do this all the time to remove nail wraps, tips. Love your videos.
Awesome trick! I usually use the oil method- which takes about as much effort as removing non glitter polishes... But since you've shown how brilliantly this foil method works- I will have to try it out!
Just to point out the cuticle is a ridged growth underneath the skin around the nail. The skin that most people incorrectly refer to as the cuticle is actually the eponychium. To avoid the eponychium from drying out while doing the foil trick apply with a Q-tip some Vaseline before applying the cotton swab then foil. It's an old salon trick I learn a couple of decades ago.
You put this up just in time for me! I was just about to sit down and try to pry the glitter off my nails when I saw you had a new video up. How's that for timing? Worked brilliantly! Thank you!
O.M.G.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS REALLY TRULLY WORKS!!! I just tried this "trick" and it's super wonderful! I love glitter polish but HATE to try and fight with it to take it off....this is great!!! everyone should try this!!! Thanks Julia!!! Hope you have a great holiday in Canada!! Keep up the great work with the videos!!! My daughter and I love them!!
Where was this video yesterday when I was scrubbing my nails like a crazy person to get my glitter polish off? Thanks for the tip! Can't wait to try this.
I am so glad that I watched this. I was just talking to a friend today about how hard it is to take off glitter nail polish. Glitter nail polish can give an existing color pizzazz or look pretty alone and I would hate to stop using it because of how hard it is to take off. Thanks for the tips. :)
also, I totally agree that doing it a lot tends to dry up your cuticles. Great suggestion on the hand cream and cuticle cream (I use one from Bath and Body Works)
Thank you! I´ve had this problem and you solved it. I LOVE using glitterpolish but I avoided using it so I don´t have to deal with the removing. You are pure GENIUS!
this trick is the same for removing acrilic nails, but with pure acetone... and yes it leaves your cuticles and fingertips really dry, but it works ...great Tip by the way.
Damit hast du mir echt das Leben gerettet. Ich habe schon aufgehört Glitzerlacke zu tragen, weil mich das Entfernen immer aufgeregt hat, aber so werde ich damit wieder anfangen :) Danke!!!
This is a MUCH better method than rubbing!! I could have used this a few weeks ago when I put MAC 3D silver glitter on my nails! OMG I couldnt' get it off! Thanks for the tips Julia! xoxo Michele
Very good idea!! I usually just fill the cap from my nail polish remover bottle with the remover, stick one finger in at a time for about 1 minute and wipe off with a soaked cotton ball and it comes off pretty easily.
im so glad you did this video, I wear alot of polishes with glitter and would either go through almost a whole bottle of remover and it also messed my nails up alot. I just did a glaxey polish so right now I have three diffrent colors with glitter in them plus a top coat of glitter, since I just did them last night I dont want to remove it but soon as I decide to change my look I'll be sure to try this out.
I just wanted to say a quick THANK YOU for this tip! Seriously, the best tip i've gotten from You Tube in AGES, I love my sparkly polishes, but dread the removal... this worked like a charm!!!
tip: if you wear acrylics then don't use acetone, use non acetone because of how difficult it is to remove this stuff normally I usually only wear glitter on my accent nail XP
just painted my nails right now with essie's ballet slippers and essie's glitter, set in stones over top, I use this method for my gel nails why didn't I think of it for this!? Thanks sooo much!
@glowshimmerglow I've used both also, and it's not the case for me. Removing glitter polish is also a specific issue sometimes. Of course it's going to be harder to remove if you apply more coats, which I do for polishes with sparse glitter on them since I like my nails fully 'glittered'. This video will not work for everyone, but it does work, period.
Brilliant! Sometimes it takes me an hour or more to scrub off glitter nail polish! I usually resort to filing some of it off! Will this work on acrylic nails? I realize using acetone polish remover would dissolve the nails, so I guess non-acetone remover might work. Any word of wisdom on that?
this is an AWESOME tip! i hate using glitter polish because of how ridiculously hard it is to get off, but now im sure ill use it much more now! thanks doll :D
I actually use glitter nail polish as a top coat to keep my nail polish from chipping because it sticks so well. I adore glitter polish and glitter in general because I like the shiny lol. This is an amazing tip! I'll be trying it next time I've got a glitter or shimmer nail polish on. Thanks.
They teach this in nail tech school! It's such a great trick! Also prevents a ton of waste of acetone. One of my friends used to just dip her hands in a bowl of acetone (just her fingertips). WAAAYY easier!!! ^_^
Thank you so much for sharing this! I've had this technique done when I got gel nails, but never thought to use it to take off glitter polish. I was going to give up glitter polishes before I saw this video. :)
AHHH I am sooo excited to try this!! I hate wearing glitter because I dread taking it off, thank you so much for this tip, it's totally going to save my life!
That was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!! ... 162 people have no idea how hard it is to take of glitter polish since they don't seem to appreciate your discovery and the fact that you are willing to share it with the world. THANK YOU!
@Rienei I think she means like, loose glitter, or thick glitter nailpolish.. because the fine glitter particles in nail polish will come off after you do the "normal" removal method, but the kind she had on in the beginning of the video wouldn't.
ahhhh ! And i've been trying so hard to take off my glitters last sunday. And I was telling myself "this is the last time I ever put glitters on my nails" because it's so hard to take off (it's was my first experience). Well I'll try this next time, thank you so much !!! you always give the best tips ;)
Thank you for this tip!!! This is a life saver!! Once I spent about 20-30 minutes scrubbing glitter nail polish off my nails and I found that after I scrubbed my nails they were really weak! Thank you so much!!!
NO WAY!!! Thank you so SOOOOOO SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for this tip! I love glitter nail polish so much, but hate removing them. This really helps! You've made my life simpler :)
or you can use Pure Acetone nail polish remover. I had on like 3 coats of glitter polish and I took it off all my nails in less then a minute. Love that stuff! If you live in the states you can get it at Sallys, I got mine for less then 3 bucks.
U are a life saver cause I always ended up spending too long removing glitter nail polish plus dry, cracked index finger and thumb from the extra strong remover!
this is tutorial is amazing!!! i stopped wearing glitter nailpolish as it got annoying to remove it but from this tutorial, guess i'll be wearing it again :D x
Oh my gosh! That was amazing! My jaw literally dropped. I have glitter on my toe nails and have been waiting for it to just chip off, but it hasn't and it has been on there for a while now. I guess I know what I'm doing tonight...or maybe tomorrow.
First I want to say I love your videos. What a great idea. But are you sure its ok to use this technique with acetone? I'm just concerned about mixing acetone and aluminum foil. Somehow that seems it might be hazardous, like a possible chemical reaction because acetone is so strong. I know you used a non-acetone remover for this but has anyone ever tried this technique with aluminum foil? Thanks! Keep up the good work!
@Rienei The friction of the rubbing paired with the rough glitter particles will really damage your nails. This method is actually MUCH gentler on the nails as long as you follow up with a moisturizer like MissChievous suggests.
Awesome!!!!! I just took of some glitter polish yesteray and it was a pain in the butt. So glad to watch this video and try this out next time. Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!
A quicker method i found is if you fill your polish remover cap with the remover and soak each nail in it for about 30-60 seconds the glitter will come off like regular varnish
+Dangerously Pink takes a while but yup it works! thanks so much for the tip!

Very clean job, but definitely not "in seconds"
I agree
Julia! Your nail tips helped me grow healthy and long nails! Thanks a TON!!!!
I am seriously going to try to use the tinfoil method sometime soon. My fingers usually throb afterwards because I have to rub my hair fairly hard with the felt.

WOW! I was literally amazed at how well it all came off, I really wasn't expecting it to work that well.
I love this. I am so going to do this tomorrow! I despise taking off glitter polish! Also, your "how to grow your nails" video literally changed my life. Gosh your nails look so smooth and shiny! Do you buff them on a regular basis? With what?
I'd heard about the 'foil method' on MUA, but I never really tried it. That looks stunning!
this is awesome! even with 100%acetone i have to scrub a bit, but this method is way better. now i can enjoy my glitter nails alot more!!!
O.M.G.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS REALLY TRULLY WORKS!!! I just tried this "trick" and it's super wonderful! Where was this video yesterday when I was scrubbing my nails like a crazy person to get my glitter polish off? Thanks for the tip! Can't wait to try this.
Omg thanks for this tip!! I love glittery nail polish but I'm reluctant to use it sometimes because of the annoying removal. Now I know what to do :)
I am so glad that I watched this. I was just talking to a friend today about how hard it is to take off glitter nail polish. Glitter nail polish can give an existing color pizzazz or look pretty alone and I would hate to stop using it because of how hard it is to take off. Thanks for the tips. :)

Thank you! I´ve had this problem and you solved it. I LOVE using glitterpolish but I avoided using it so I don´t have to deal with the removing. You are pure GENIUS!
I can't wait to try this! I spent almost an hour removing glitter off of TWO nails yesterday.
this is such a great idea! I love wearing nail polish but I always hate taking it off becuz I always seem to miss parts. Will definitely try this out!
This is amazing! I actually put glitter nail polish on yesterday and was already dreading taking it off! Thanks so much!
Wow, thanks for the tip! I've tried 2 or 3 coats of clear polish first, but it didn't help much, if at all. Will try this!
this trick is the same for removing acrilic nails, but with pure acetone... and yes it leaves your cuticles and fingertips really dry, but it works ...great Tip by the way.
Brilliant! I had been avoiding glitter polish because it's annoying to remove, but now I can wear it without worrying!

I use the foil method with my all nail polish, not only glittering nail polish.
it's works so well!
This is such an awesome tutorial. I'm going to try this out tonight.

Acetone based nail polish works the best for me.
tip: if you wear acrylics then don't use acetone, use non acetone
because of how difficult it is to remove this stuff normally I usually only wear glitter on my accent nail XP
just painted my nails right now with essie's ballet slippers and essie's glitter, set in stones over top, I use this method for my gel nails why didn't I think of it for this!? Thanks sooo much!
if you add vaseline on the cuticles before adding the acetone it helps lessen the dryness effect
Fantastic!!! I cant wait to do this. I have some really harsh glitter polish on. I hate the rubbing
I so needed this....I was getting ready to take my glitter polish off as we speak and got a notification of this video. Thanks a mill.....
just tried it !! It works amazingly well ! Thanks for sharing the trick !!!
thanks for the tip! Vitamin E Oil is wonderful for cuticles and nails, I will use that afterwards :)
I've used this method... with Elmer's Glue & never had any problem with it popping off! Just put a thin layer or add a bit of water to thin it out.
That is so smart, I tend to avoid glitter nails cause I hate the removal process!! Thanks for the tip!!!!!!
@glowshimmerglow I've used both also, and it's not the case for me. Removing glitter polish is also a specific issue sometimes. Of course it's going to be harder to remove if you apply more coats, which I do for polishes with sparse glitter on them since I like my nails fully 'glittered'. Helpful video What glitter polish did you use??? omg I love it

im OBSESSED with your nail color!!! so prettty!
Thank you SOOO much I've been having trouble removing glitter nailpolish until this !! :)
You're awesome
this is an AWESOME tip! i hate using glitter polish because of how ridiculously hard it is to get off, but now im sure ill use it much more now! thanks doll :D
Great idea! Thanks so much for sharing this trick. I don't use glitter for that very reason, but now I will!
Wow! It comes off so easily! I will definitely try this and thanks so much for this helpful video.😀
I really like the square shape of your nails, im going to try it!
I actually use glitter nail polish as a top coat to keep my nail polish from chipping because it sticks so well. I adore glitter polish and glitter in general because I like the shiny lol. This is an amazing tip! I'll be trying it next time I've got a glitter or shimmer nail polish on. Thanks.
thanks for the great tip. i will try it i don't wear glitter polish because it is so hard to get off but with your tip i will wear it more often

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! it actually helped me. except I found when you take it off you should apply a little bit of pressure.

Your nails are beautiful :)
Do you file your nails own or go you to a designer.??
Thank you so much for posting this! It would take me forever to remove these polishes.
@Rienei I think she means like, loose glitter, or thick glitter nailpolish.. because the fine glitter particles in nail polish will come off after you do the "normal" removal method, but the kind she had on in the beginning of the video wouldn't.
Your nails look so healthy! How do you do it?
ahhh i love this idea !!! this is perfect since i wear glitter polish all the time !
I have huge nail envy. You've got got gorgeous nails!
I did this last night with some stubborn glitter that wouldn't come off and it worked amazingly!
Thanks :) xx
ahhhh ! And i've been trying so hard to take off my glitters last sunday. And I was telling myself "this is the last time I ever put glitters on my nails" because it's so hard to take off (it's was my first experience). Well I'll try this next time, thank you so much !!!
you always give the best tips ;)
You're a genius!! This came just in time, thank you
I do this everytime! Its so simple and doesnt take long at all
Thank you for this tip!!!

Holts had a video about using baby wipes with nail polish remover. I tried it and it worked but not quite well. This methods sounds excellent.
This method works extremely well in the removal of acrylic nails (artificial nails) with the use of acetone.
I tried it, and it is AMAZING AND IT WORKS! You're brilliant!
do you find with this method damages the nail? or dehydrates the cuticles?
Omg best idea everrr! Ur a genius! I love glitter polish but had to file my nails to take em off.. but not any more after this.. thanksss to youu!
This couldn't have come at a more perfect time. It works amazingly :) thank you!!
Hi ! I would like to thank you !!! 💜 This technic is fabulous, I've just tried it.
Oh my gosh! That was amazing! My jaw literally dropped. I have glitter on my toe nails and have been waiting for it to just chip off, but it hasn't and it has been on there for a while now. I guess I know what I'm doing tonight...or maybe tomorrow.
MissChievous, have you ever done, or gotten acrylics, if so, what was your experience? Thank you!
Wow ! thanks for posting. I have heard of the felt but not the tin foil combination. Who would have thunk it!
Holy cannoli! That is the coolest thing I've ever seen! I put some glitter nail polish the other day and it took forever to take off. Thanks!!
You can also use this method to remove acrylic tips. Using acetone. All you have to do is cut off the excess tips down before hand.
@Rienei The friction of the rubbing paired with the rough glitter particles will really damage your nails. This method is actually MUCH gentler on the nails as long as you follow up with a moisturizer like MissChievous suggests.
Cool! One of the BEST tips you ever gave. Thank you so much!
Awesome!!!!! I just took of some glitter polish yesteray and it was a pain in the butt. So glad to watch this video and try this out next time. Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my gosh! That is so awesome. What a great idea. Thank you so much for that.
great tip ! Can you tell me what is the difference between acetone and non acetone polish remover ? Thanks
