- The Skoda Kushaq is entering the Rs 12-18 lakh SUV space that the Hyundai Creta - and to an extent, the Kia Seltos - call their own. Does this Skoda tick the five essential boxes - solid European feel, pampering list of features, involving driving dynamics, strong USPs and a value proposition - which will make you and me consider it? @@tanmmayeesandhibigraha5599 thanks Tanmmayee. If you want something that compact and fun to drive, yes. If you want something that offers more value then I would say the Creta would make a better buy.
Thanks Vikrant for the balanced view of the car not just praising the heck out of it... like we often see these days, a review should highlight the strengths and also the weakness so that users can make a better informed decision and that what I felt about watching this video, Kudos!

This is the most neutral review i found on youtube so far on Kushaq. Most of the other reviews are just plain old expensive advertisements 🤦♂️
Thank you RamaKrishna.
@@vikrantsingh6916 No sir, thank "you". Keep up the good work!
I just love the way you present and speak Vikrant. Impeccable crystal clear English. Some things about the car.
1) Top end style variant doesn't have electric seat adjustment. Not acceptable.
2) Pretty ordinary reverse camera. No guidelines and no 360 degree.
3) The tachometer and speedometer are analog. The instrumentation panel reminded me of my Fabia which I used to drive 12 years back. And Skoda is talking about 2.0.
4) Even the stereo isn't branded if I am not mistaken. That's not expected of Skoda.
5) The seat cushioning isn't firm.
Thanks Salil. I would agree on all points but the last. The seats are cushy but sinking soft. The foam / padding is well judged. So it will prove comfortable both over short journeys and on longer rides.
All of these sound like excuses made by air purifier buyers 😂😂

I literally searched for "vikranth kushaq" review 😀❤️🔥🎉
Answers all the questions that I had.. Awesome...
Especially the start, where I wanted to know if Skoda's build has reduced or not compared to Rapid and all
The infotainment is amazing, is the VW Play, here in Mexico the VW Virtus, VW Tcross, VW Taos and VW nivus comes with this infotainment sistem, i hope that the new VW Vento comes with this screen because here in Mexico VW Sells the Vento and the Virtus at the same time
I’ve watched several review videos of this car over the last couple of days. Can certainly say this is a well done review that helps highlight quite a few points other reviews missed out on - for example, tinny feel of the Kushaq chassis as compared to Rapid.
Thanks Manu.
The best and the most honest review there is.

Right on! Creta is indeed polarizing and Kushaq looks perfect in design.
The best review of the Kushaq on RUclips that I've seen! Keep it up!
Thanks Paritosh.
Thanks @Vikrant Singh for, what I thought was a fair review. I have seen a couple (including ones from fairly popular websites) have kind of skirted around/downplayed the interior quality. I noticed irregular seat cover fit in the backseat cup holder in one of the review video. You also highlighted something similar in the front seat.
Given that Skoda is going up against Creta, I would have expected to pull up their socks in whatever they could to make it a plush cabin. I can overlook the cheap plastics (cost-cutting and so on). But something like gives me an impression where else they might paid less attention to.
One query though - The cabin did sound quite boomy during the drive and lots of suspension noise. Was it just exaggerated by the mics or is it another case of bean counters scoring one over us (customers)?
Great presentation, simple yet covers all the details.
Thank you Goutham. :-)
Extremely Good review. I like Auto reviews which emphasis on Ride, Handling & safety issues. More than talking only about Ergonomics and Plastic quality.

Sir , I started watching your reviews recently and I have to say it’s a pleasure to watch them. So much finesse in how you deliver. You have got a new subscriber. Quick question: you didn’t show the boot space of this car. How’s it placed as compared to the Creta. Also which one would you recommend, Creta or Kushaq?
Great review sir!! If Skoda can price it competitively or atleast on par with rivals they'll be setting sales chart on fire. Nitpicking aside only real negative aspect of Kushaq is the lack of a diesel option. A breath of fresh air amidst intense korean onslaught.
I still feel it would need to be significantly cheaper than the rivals for a proper chance at success... but we will find out in due course.
In a sea of segment first feature offerings...... Kushaq offers that fabulous engine!! g8 review sir
The engine is good, no doubt.
Great review. Calling a spade a spade in your reviews is what I have come to admire. Well done 👍

Thank you for not putting out a “fan-boy” review. *cough -autocar india cough* you should’ve addressed the service issues most skoda customers in india face though. Somehow skoda is not held responsible on any public platform. Wish you did that. Other than that. Awesome honest review. Loved it.
Thanks Samir. Skoda says it has been working on the service front. And will have something in that regard at launch. It didn’t seem correct to praise them or bash them on the subject of service till we saw what’s on offer.
Thanks for the great review. My question is which is the pick of the compact suv for you in petrol manual mode ? Creta, seltos, kushaq, taigun and which engine.
Great review with a lot of authenticity. Presentation style is unique and classy. Would have been better if vital statistics were there. 👏💐😍

Favourite Auto reviewer reviewing a car that has the potential to have a cult following in the near future.
Crisp review. People looking for build quality and driving dynamics should look for Kushaq in its segment. Only concern is the reliability of DSG in long run.
I honestly don’t think it’s that much of a worry. But if that’s a concern, the 1-litre AT in Style trim might be a good option too.
As an American who will never see any Skoda products in this market, and where the Nissan Quashqai is badged as the Nissan Rogue SPORT (to differentiate it from the 11/10s scale version of what is called the Quashqai everywhere else but is just called Rogue, here...confusing, I know) I find it interesting that Skoda is using a very similar looking name for it's similar product.
BTW, even tho many vehicles you review are not and never will be available here in the U.S. I do enjoy these reviews. Like other comments: well done/balanced.
Thanks Howard!
between Khusaq and Taigun which would be your pick? 1.5DSG top ends.
Sir
Should I go for Tata nexon XZ plus or kushaq Active?. Please advise
Still indicator stick is on wrong side (left of the steering which is uncomfortable for car with manual gear) and petrol lid on right side, which should have been thought of when skoda says, kushaq is specifically made for India
great production quality and spot on
Thank you Seelam.
Nice review 👍👍👍
Thanks. And I think I have see you somewhere! :-)
Hello Sir. I have been driving i10 from past 10 years personally but we also have seltos which i completely adore. I wish to buy a new one for self but confused between sonet, kushaq, Astor or should i wait for skoda Scalia ? Kindly sujjest.
A very honest review, as Creta is doing well and could not meet demand for supply as waiting period is about 3-6 months, hope skoda is pricing the kushaq on par with Creta. It will be a shame on skoda if kushaq is lying excess in showroom, but that is due to a little bit higher pricing.
which one is most reliable and practical at the same time safety as well ,,S cross zeta variant or kushaq 1.0 base variant ? Because both are in the same budget almost but s cross ( missing traction control and ESP) come with more features also it's 1 lakh cheaper than kushaq (where we miss auto ac , projector lamps & rear disk brakes)
Vikrant Sir Great Review👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Arjunan. :-)
Hello Sir, vw taigun highline or Skoda Kushaq ambition varient....which one I should consider....confused
Vikrant Singh and Rohit Paradkar are the best automotive journalists
That's one genuine reviews of the car. Could you please share review of 1.0 MT and lower trims.
Now with pricing available do you think Ambition model is worth buying considering maintenance as well.
We will try and bring the review of the 1-litre drivetrain. As for the the Ambition trim, yes, it’s worth buying - so is the Style trim - but it is overpriced. Just because you have to pay mote for something doesn’t make it bad; it’s just that not many might buy it, is all.
Vikrant sir your reviews are explanation allways the best.
Thank you Syyed!

Was waiting for your review. I think skoda has launched a good product but they need to launch great product merely good wont be enough for them in India at the moment.
I would agree Deepak. The competition is fierce and well entrenched. And Skoda has been facing head winds. It needed to do better.
Fantastic color...Kushaq looks great in this shade...Honey Orange comes next for me

Nice review bro 👍✌️ batter than Autocar zigwheel ect Indian toper
Pls do a video kushaq 1.5L vs compass 2.0L limited
Hi @Vikrant, It might be too late to put a comment to get a response on this video. As I am planning to buy a stronger, safer and more fun to drive petrol car, I came across this video.
Apart from other comparisons, which one would you choose between Creta/Seltos and Kushaq for safety? Considering the fact and perception about the German cars and the safety ratings of the Korean cousins which scored 3 start safety ratings.
Thank you!!
Sir saw some online accecriores for car and heads up display is just a plug in play attache it to the obd and done and review are also great so should I installed it in my new car
I can’t really say. An aftermarket product isn’t tested as extensively as one offered by the car maker as part of the standard feature list on a particular trim. So, it’s down to an individual really.
How does Kushaq 1.5L DSG compare with Compass Sport DCT in driving and handling ? Which one was more fun to drive ?
The Kushaq. You can’t fight physics.
This car is boxy and huge. Love the solid lines.
Please post a review of the 'Ride & Handling' of the 1.0 tsi AMBITION variant given it has R16 wheels. This possibly is the most value for money option in the line up. Thank you !
We will bring you the review of the 1.0 version as soon as we get one from the press fleet.
When will the monti carlo virent of skoda kushaq come?????? I'm looking forward to. I hop jo cchoti moti kami abhi is mai hai woh monticarlo mai dheak kardi jaygi.
Will take time. First the 1-litre TSI will come. Then the 1.5. Then depending on the demand etc, the Monte should make its appearance.
It feels like Skoda wants to have its presence felt in the compact segment but doesn't want to make a strong statement it seems. If we look at the kind of seat bolstering, instrument cluster, non-functioning buttons and plastic bits near the ac and the lack of some key features that attract customers like electronic parking brake, auto hold, drive modes, powered driver seat and all are absent here. Apart from all these, there's no wow factor as such except for the european design. Looking at the competition, Hyundai and Kia have a compelling features list and their overall proposition is really good. To conclude, Skoda Kushaq is like a half baked cake and if we want something that's proper and better baked one, we need to wait for VW Taigun as in that car, some additional features might make up for what lacks in Kushaq.
I would agree, the Kushaq needed to stand out more as a product. But, there’s still an opportunity- take the Magnite ; it only took off because it was special in terms of pricing while being a decent product.
Very good review
Thanks Joy!
How would you compare its 1.5 TSI engine with that of Honda City's 1.5 Vtec, which is more exciting?
I would say the 1.5 TSI. It’s punchier, more eager to rev, and helps the car pickup speed in lesser time as well.
How do you place kushaq 1.0 style variant AT over venue sport dct trip trim? Is it worth the stretch on cost?
It depends on what you want from the car . The Venue will be significantly cheaper. But it loses out on both passenger and boot space. It also doesn’t get the same number of safety and convenience features as the Kushaq. So, you can afford the Skoda, the Skoda would be a better buy. However, only if it costs up to 2 lakhs more. More than that, and the value proposition will plummet.
Wonderful objective review as usual, splendid one Vikrant Sir.
I’m planning to move from more than a decade old Maruti Alto and confused between Honda City and Skoda Kushaq ? (which one should I opt for ?)
The Kushaq’s quality is not of the typical Europian one which is the major drawback I’m noticing and really worried about.
If there’s one thing I’m really excited about regarding this machine is it’s 1.5 ltr engine, can you please share your take on the manual variant of this engine as well in addition to clarifying the above question?
Thank you! :-) as far between the City and Kushaq , let wait till the price reveal tom. But given where the indicative prices stand at the moment, I would go with the City. Also, sorry, but we didn’t drive the manual version. However, we know VW does good manual gearboxes, so this one shouldn’t be any different.
@@vikrantsingh6916
Glad to see your answer to my queries, have got the much needed clarity but will take the final call once Kushaq's prices are revealed tomorrow.
Thanks a lot for taking the time out to reply to each and every one's comments / queries, hats off to your dedication and commitment.
Dear Vikrant,
Can I buy Kushaq 1.0 as I booked the vehicle
Saw your review
Creta is overpriced and mileage is very less for petrol.
Suggestions please
Hi Vikranth, is it worth buying Kushaq ?as I am looking for buying Active variant as it has all the required safety features comparing to all its rivals starting from base model
Vikrant says - "Yes it is. It scores on the safety front. And it’s a decent car to drive. The 1-litre engine isn’t fantastic for the package, but it’s not bad either."
Sir a brilliant review. Exactly like how it should be done. Best review on Sköda out there and so far I have seen quite many. So a Big thanks 🙏🏻. On the car front I am dissatisfied and disappointed.. if quality was to be sacrificed by localisation then it’s a big No No for many buyers who represent Sköda with a brand which does not compromise quality. Sadly had high hopes with this one. Even if Skoda prices it right it’s a no no.
Thank you so much Himanshu! :-)
Would Kushaq/Taigun 1.5 TSI be a good switch from Duster 110 AWD?
It depends on what you want from the car. The Duster AWad is a rugged, comfortable, go-anywhere option. It’s not the most comfortable to drive in the city, and it’s definitely not feature loaded. But if you want a city centric car meant mainly for on-road use and maybe a rare poor road excursion, the Kushaq might be a better option. It will be a significantly short on space though after the Duster.
Between troc and kushaq which one would you rate better drive experience? Given they share the engine.
I would say the T Roc.
Hello Sir, really nice review highlighting all details of Kushaq. Now that the prices are out, do you really think it has an edge over Creta? 20L for top variant seems bit overpriced to me. I am driving polo for past couple of years and was waiting for this car but as you said "nothing stand out". I am really confused now.
Engine and build quality can't be compared with Skoda but on the other hand, Creata also offers descent build quality and offers hell lots of features. Please suggest :)
The Creta makes more sense now that the pricing is out. It’s just better value no matter how you cut it. And though the Kushaq drives better, it’s only when you are pushing it on a winding road that the differences become closer. In almost every other aspect, the Creta has a edge. It will also fetch you higher resale value five years down the line.
@@vikrantsingh6916 Thanks Sir. Really appreciate your reply. Creta it is :)
Thinking to buy Skoda Kushaq 1.5 TSI manual and remove the chrome and add gloss black and give it an valvatronic exhaust system what do you think Vikrant sir about that
Well, I don’t really know about the exhaust, but I am all in for adding black chrome. It does look rad.
Ya it will look like vrs
Vikrant Singh is the beat automotive journo hands down, however lately have been seeing lesser reviews by him
Sir how does the size and proportions feel of this car in person, from images and videos it seemed a bit puny compared to its competitors ..
It is smaller than the competition in all areas apart from wheelbase. So it doesn’t seem very big on the outside. But inside, it has loads of leg and knee room. Shoulder room, of course, is nothing to write home about.
Ageed a fair review 👏
Thanks Sumit.
Excellent
Thanks.
Sir just one opinion requested from you:In terms of drivability and suspension,Kushaq or Kicks?
I would say the Kushaq.
Great Review, would appreciate if you could review the 1.0 version, keeping in mind that should sell the most & is the most affordable. Looking forward to buy one. Would love your feedback on the 1.0 active .Thanks & Regards.
We should have a review up by next week. Stay tuned!
From what I use here in a VW Golf in Europe, i can say that 1.0TSI is gem of an engine although whether producing it in india will have same level of quality is something questionable. What i use is 200 Nm, 115 HP TSI. The 200 NM torque is available as early as 2000 rpm, means strong pulling power. It really makes you wonder if it is a 3 cylinder engine 👌🏼
Sir
Vikrant Sir
Kushaq base or ambition 1 Ltr which will be value for money you think.
The Ambition would be a better bet.
Vikrant Sir
Skoda rapid ambition or kushaq base.
Confused pl help.
I would say the Kushaq. The price difference isnt much, but you get a newer platform, an updated engine, and more everyday practicality with the Kushaq . And though it’s an SUV, it’s still very nice to drive.
What are the biggest issues in kushaq???
Really promising review.
So, would you go for the Kushaq or not?
@@vikrantsingh6916 Considering between kushaq and taigun. More inclined towards taigun.
No one else pushes the car this hard like this man do
Hope you enjoy watching it! :-)
Hello Vikrant sir, first of all thanks for replying to everyone in comments section🙏🏻 my doubt is which car seems more practical as a 5 seater between 13l Honda city 5th gen or 12.2l Kushaq (both base models)?
Also have any of your subscribers complained about low ground clearance and scraping issues in honda city with 5 passengers?
The City is a better bet for five people. And with five people and the inconsistency of speed breakers height and span, it’s impossible to say whether it will scrape with five or not. It will depend on the speed breakers you most often encounter really.
@@vikrantsingh6916 Good Morning Sir and again thanks on behalf of everyone for replying to our comments 🙌🏻
What's the seating position of kushaq. Does it have commanding position or sinked in . Is VW taigun good wait??
This one has a height adjustable driver’s seat. So, you can have both. But the seating - even in it lowest setting - in not low slung. No harm in waiting to see what the Taigun offers. That launch isn’t far off either.
Hi Sir,
Have booked Kia SONET IMT PETROL,
after seeing kushaq am thinking to switch to Škoda base model
What you suggest sir, please do let me
Thank you
We assume you have booked the Sonet HTX iMT as that is the variant priced closer to the Kushaq Active 1.0 MT.
If that is the case then apart from more space for the rear passengers, the Kushaq doesn't offer anything more than the Sonet. You can check out the detailed comparison here - www.carwale.com/compare-cars/skoda-kushaq-vs-kia-sonet/?c1=8221&c2=8117&source=17
So, if space is a concern - go for the Kushaq, otherwise stick to the Sonet.
