Once consoles went internet I stopped paying attention to them. They used to be plug n play convenience, buy the game, play the game, and get consistent performance. They've just become really niche PCs, which would be fine at a lower price point but they've been steadily losing the value proposition.
The biggest issue is the idea that games not only cost more than ever but that they have to. Sony and other publishers have painted themselves into an insanely expensive corner when the reality is games don’t need to cost anywhere near that much to be hugely successful.
but its nice to have the spectacle when it comes from time to time. I feel like their cinematic tones matches their sony pictures segment. it does well when they mean to do so.
i mean, the actual players are to blame as well, when the around the era of the ps3 and xbox 360 their became a HUGE obsession with graphics and just insane detail, and it went on for years and still is a huge obsession, comapnies see this and assume thats what players want, well to get that kind of shit in todays world it takes years and loads of money to get those amazing graphics players are so obsessed with
Not every game needs to be so expensive. But profits have been higher overall thanks to Digital Sales greatly reducing Resales & Trades, along with Direct Distribution. However, you need a quality game if it's going to be so expensive. Concord was NOT a quality game, because the Highlight is the Characters which were Generic AF, and in an oversaturated Market. What would be smart is bringing back some Old Classics that people love.
@@TheAyanamiRei On top of that, making new IPs that aren't corporate slop (so, no fucking concord.) via game jams is a good idea. Create a "indie" studio within your company under your direct control, hand them a small ass budget and tell em to see what they come up with. Down the line one of them will bound to be widely successful and THEN you can turn that into a multiplayer game with tons of live service. Thats how it used to be done back in the day. You didn't just shovel out a multiplayer game, you built up the fan base THEN you went in on the multiplayer aspect. World of Warcraft used to be just Warcraft. These corporations are so addicted to short term profits that they no longer think they have to built up their customer bases anymore which is a really sick mindset.
I find AA games the best. They have enough budget for polish and fidelity/details, but enough freedom to experiment and actually be fun, instead of having a safe standard formula, agreed on by a non-gamer committee, only data points for them being the spreadsheets with trends. Artistically stylised games with simple graphics and even no voice acting, just text, are still great for me. They can be magical. And they have even more freedom to experiment. Companies should hire more passionate talented smaller teams and give them freedom.
Don't forget if you want it to play your PS5 games you have physical copies for and make it stand up you need to pay an extra 200 dollars. That's a 1000 dollar system
Western is a mistake, so Japan is worthy, just like PS1 and PS2 because both of this system are so iconic when it comes to their beginning and the success sequel.
You mean pc vs Nintendo. After all Ms games will be on PC day. And Sony game will be after 2-4 year. With full dlc and updates. Nintendo is the only one that will stay exclusive and need the hardware for it
100% if a Gen is just 20 exclusives. That will be remastered next gen. The consoles are dead at this point for hardcore gamers. And casual will follow a gen later.
Iwata was right, when he predicted that chasing power would lead to diminishing returns, and fewer games because it's more work per game. That is why the switch still has a games library, and is alone in that.
@@shadeblackwolf1508 I still laugh at how people mocked him for saying 'The NES is just a box people buy to play Mario' like it was the dumbest take ever, when it's 100% true that if there aren't good games people want to play for it, they don't give a crap how fancy your box is.
@shadeblackwolf1508 and practically all of Nintendo's franchises on it have exploded in sales and quite often praise too. Not always praise but we live in a world where Pikmin outdoes Sony’s big new toy (Concord). Imagine telling people that a new Sony IP got slaughtered in profit by Pikmin?
You’re delusional if you think people are going to be buying PS6’s at the same rate as PS5’s. This console generation doesn’t feel like it has really started. Take the I still have a PS4 trend right now and amplify it for the PS6’s first half of its lifecycle.
Better they hold off on ps6 until 2029 or 2030 after the bullsh*t they pulled this Gen to guarantee that people jump to the ps6 in droves unless they want to repeat of having a higher ps5 player base than ps6 forcing them to go back on the "we believe in generations" promise.
Sony seems to forget there is competition in everything. If gamers want their systems stronger they'll go to PC instead, if they want more games, or games that just feel like games they'll switch to nintendo. And I even have a friend who said screw sony and is just refusing to play games going forward cause a PC cost to much for them and they are not big nintendo fans. And the fact that there are long time Play Station fans who would rather have nothing than a PS5, Pro, or PS6 should scare Sony more than anything If they don't fix something soon, and I mean during the PS6 soon, I have a real hunch that it will be the last play station
@@Topbeehler you actually get less games by going to Switch because their platforms are never strong enough to run modern third party games, which means you miss out on 90% of what gaming has to offer and can really only enjoy Nintendo made games, indies, and a few crappy down ports. New consoles have always sold on the idea of getting better looking games. Genesis? SNES? PS1? N64? Dreamcast? PS2? Every generation was an upgrade with crazy good looking new stuff. Playstation is the place for great first party games, great multiplatform games, and a great system with good graphics and performance.
I built my PC after wanting to join the new consoles, I can NOT justify the prices that consoles charge. PC 2.99 for Just Cause 2. $4.99 for triple A game original released for $60. PC and patient game is where it's at if you're poor. Honestly Game Pass is really good value if you just want to play some newer titles than wait for them to go on sale to "own" them or steam/gog.
I bought a ps2 with all cables, 2 controllers including one original and one wireless, 2 memory cards, and 4 games all for $100. Lots of worry-free and FOMO-free, Live service-free fun so far. I recommend others do the same :)
I still have my 20 year old original PS2 and play it regularly. It was the last console I purchased. I've been on PC ever since. There isn't a single game that i've been disappointed about not being able to play. Played quite a bit of $45 (on sale!) Ghost of Tsushima on steam earlier today, lul.
You know the studio that sold Concord to Sony had to have a good laugh after Concord failed so badly. They are rolling in Sony's money while Sony almost literally got nothing.
you know what's so funny? I actually heard that they were shitting themselves because they sold Sony on concord. they were the intermediary between Sony and firewalk - they made the introduction. so now it looks to everyone watching like they scammed Sony, and will likely suffer big time as a result, since matching their smaller studios with bigger buyers is basically their bread and butter money maker in the industry
Concord could've been salvaged if they had a single player or co-op missions like Left 4 Dead that is around 20+ hours. They could've done a co-op heist story mission like shown on the game trailer. But nah.....they had to try to Overwatch when they're not even Overwatch "hot".
"Live Service Games" are the worst thing that has ever happened to gaming. Any title that is "live service" is something I will always avoid like the plague.
1603 was actually the end of the Sengoku era and the beginning of the Edo period, the end of the big wars was in 1600 with the battle of sekigahara, so they actually skipped all the super crazy stuff and went straight to the end.
@@alexanderjohnson6178 yea, this was when Tokugawa became shogunate. And the beginning what you mentioned the edo period which was mostly a 200 year lock out of foreign affairs. But he did get the Ainu part right and could be showing how they starting to show them being oppressed by the southern forces. I’m actually interested they did a great job with Tsushima giving fictional liberties.
@@Hakaishin-225 Because these days they are message pushing mary sue tokens to get dei points. Especially when they replace a man in already established series.
Sony's mistakes: moving to CA, hiring Jim Ryan, censoring Japanese video games, hiring Jim Ryan, trying to move to live service instead of single player games, hiring Jim Ryan and also hiring Jim Ryan. I think there might be a pattern, even though he retired the damage is done.
Steam Deck is where the excitement is at, today. It is a truly transformative console, with customer good will as priority #1. I was a PlayStation ride-or-die, from PS1 through PS4, and it was a fun ride!! But, when PS5 showed up, I kept waiting and waiting for a good reason to buy one, and the best it had was backwards compatibility with PS4 🤷🏻♂️. Then Valve showed the Steam Deck preview and I immediately realized that it was the dream console that I had been waiting for, but never granted, my entire life. Today, I'm gaming more than I have in over a decade, across more eras and genres than ever, with more variety and choice than ever. All on my Steam Deck.. which even plays my massive PlayStation backlog 🙌🏻 I couldn't be happier, and I don't know if I'll ever come back to the console space.
I agree. I skipped on PS5 for the same reason, no games out for the system that weren't on PS4. I also bought a handheld PC. I went with the Legio Go and can't see myself ever going back to console again. Then again, there is no need to go back when PS and Xbox are putting their games on PC.
I think it's foolish to gauge Sony's future by past success. For starters the leadership that made the decision for the amazing PS4 gen isn't there anymore. They've also invested more into live service than single player games (60-40%). You can say a little over half isn't world ending but what was it before? I don't remember Sony releasing any notable live service games for PS4 so the games Sony is known for could have had their funding reduced by half. Follow that up with the CFO demanding layoffs to make the budget tighter. And competitors like MS poaching their talent. One has to ask, can they still produce or are they just hiding behind the brand that others built? Next year is going to be their prove it year. And it doesn't matter how many reviewer glaze their games like how they did Concord. Will their console owners by these games? And honestly IDK.
Most valid opinion here. I liked Sony because of their support of single-player games and their support for their homegrown studios. Those are the things they're killing. Tis a shame
@@billygrant9147 Often these take a single champion to keep going. Family Detective Club got a new gang after 30 years because someone poked the Metroid guy a lot. Whose there to poke for Sly Cooper? Honestly I'm sure Ratchet and Clank are only as regular as they are because an Insomniac person insists on it hard. Like how Fire Emblem Kirby and Xenoblade are consistent for their sales over on Nintendo
@@krspaceT1 I here you but it also depends on what management would greenlight. The Shaun era management seemed more willing to approve smaller projects. Jim Ryan closed or reassigned a lot of those smaller studios that make stuff like astro bot. And frankly what can you say to them. Astrobot isn't selling that well. They need to figure out what the disconnect is between them and the consumer. It took one bad press conference and a dumb statement from the head of Xbox to kill the Xbox one before it even launched. That brand name isn't going to keep buying Sony passes for being tone deaf
I don't understand why you bring gamepass into this? Nobody but Microsoft themselves care that gamepass subs are flat-lining. I will continue to pay for it and play stuff like Jedi Survivor and B06 when it comes out next month. Not a flex or something like that even though I feel like it sounds like I'm flexing. I don't care if microsoft is not getting any more money from gamepass as long as I can play my games. And then they can get games that are big market hitters on gamepass and increase engagement that way. Just think about when the new doom is going to drop on gamepass and bo6. There will be crazy numbers.
@sungjin-woo3894 gamepass hit peak market saturation. Microsoft panicked and did a bunch of dumb shit. Sony crushed this console generation. And have likely hit peak market saturation as well. Now the sales line isn't increasing like it used to. And now we get Sony doing (more) dumb shit.
I don't think that's entirely true. They've hit the saturation cap for the slop they're trying to sell. There's a much bigger market for actually good products.
It hit saturation ages ago. console numbers swap between the manufacturers but total console numbers haven't increased in over a decade. 'number of consoles sold' doesn't mean anything anymore. Xbox just beat playstaion in income. Lowest selling console, no exclusives, biggest earner, putting them second behind tencent. Meanwhile nintendo are 5th with the best selling console and most exclusives. It's not 2006, the market has completely changed.
Really it is a re-remaster as the PS1 one was pretty much a remaster and this is a remaster off the complete version. I still miss some of the combat from the Sega CD game. I have the PS1 one too, but sadly I had borrowed the Sega CD one from a friend back then. I have the Sega Saturn second game, but I hated that one. The save system was godawful and I didn't like the story as much.
@@TrackMediaOnly Part of me loves the old 90's anime jank vibe the PS1 versions brought forth from Working Designs. I'm sure it all nostalgia, but it hit different than the PSP or CD to me. Again pure nostalgia, but I secretly hope this is just a test and perhaps they may revist The IP if it does well. I was not kind to the DS game follow up.
Bro I don't buy anything I can emulate (and I don't feel one bit bad about it). Give me a proper remake of classic games, or a really good remaster with major improvements, or else, no deal. Their Legacy of Kain remaster for instance is absolutely shameless.
Lunar SSSC and Eternal Blue Complete are pretty much tied for my 3rd or 4th favorite game... and I don't have much interest in buying another remaster of them. I am however very interested in the Suikoden 1/2 remaster and really, *really* want a Suikoden 6. I think the main reason why I there is the difference is I don't have much faith in a Lunar 3 ever coming out or being good, while I think Suikoden 6 is a possibility, even if slim.
Every time Sony does bad I celebrate. Because every time they do bad I know the "break glass in case of emergency" box that contains the Bloodborne remaster
There's so many great soulslikes that it wouldn't be as fresh or grand as you think... The iron was hot 5-6 years ago, and Sony never bothered striking it. Now it'd be just another one.
I'm sorry but I do not believe Sony is able to come back. Unless there's a leadership change, nothing will change, they've dug their own grave and the Negative PR hasn't left and will not leave.
Sony can probably survive as is, but they would want to avoid a Concord level flop repeat without a lot of adjustments. A few ASTRO Bot type games could mitigate the risk, but such a shift will take time. Time they might not have

You're on the money with the shift from Japanese roots to the Disneyfied corporate entertainment media style by western management. The problem lies in the fact that the American leadership comes in with the mindset that lets just do with games what we've done with music and movies and we'll make a killing. The flaw in this thinking is that music and movies are passive engagements where the experience is reactive whereas games are active engagements where the experience is proactive. That means you need to provide tools and mechanisms for your consumers to enjoy your product on an individual basis, which means you need to know how that feels. These people don't know how enjoying a game feels. Nintendo is the only console company that still knows how playing video games feels, and if you look at all the games that are still giving us hope in this AAA sh**storm, they are mainly from eastern companies. BMW, anything that From has put out in the last decade, most of Nintendo, Stellar Blade. IGN itself has 7 out of its top 10 games being either from Japanese studios or other Asian studios and publishers. The same corporate American creep that killed SEGA as a console maker and forced them to retreat into being nothing more than a B-rank publisher
Most of Sega's issues around that era were treating the American branch like shit and actively working to undermine them instead of trying to expand its foothold in western audiences.

The various gaming studios need to get a grip on their finances. They spend too much and take too long chasing that mystical “triple a” branding when they should be shooting for AA or B rated games that cost significantly less. It’s like nobody has learned from THQs mistakes. Some adults with “fuck you” levels of clout need to be in control and be read in on their projects. This remake everything crap whumps.
@@kosmosXcannon I think it’s normal fear of losing out, but it’s magnified because they just lean into existing IPs until they’re just desiccated husks. There's room for AAA, but AAA comes with a lot more risk. It requires being a Leader, NOT a Follower like with Concord. Look at what Sony did with FF Remake and God of War. People don't want remakes of old games that still look good, ESPECIALLY PC fans. They should be getting back to their old beloved titles. Focusing on Indie Games & AA games to Diversify.
It makes sense for the platform holder to be the ones releasing AAA games to show what their platforms can do, you should be saying this about third part publishers. Pretty much saying AAA games don't have a place is just daft.

I've never seen the appeal for Nintendo games. All the Nintendo games I had enjoyed was back in the day. Nowadays they just put out rubbish. We own a switch (Not mine) and I have tried it, all games are mediocre and the hardware is a joke. Never seen such a laggy system before.
There was a time when a remaster/remake of a seven year old game was very justified. You look at Super Mario All-Stars and the visual and audio improvements over the NES versions are drastic, and that's only a five year gap between SMB3 (1988) and All-Stars (1993). Now, diminishing returns (as magnified recently thanks to the barely noticeable changes between PS5 and Pro) make it very clear that we don't actually need these games remade or remastered all that often any more. PS4 games look absolutely fine, even now. Bloodborne is still a gorgeous game, even when put up against Elden Ring. PS3 era games? Yeah, they can stand to get full on visual remakes these days, as in the case of Demon's Souls, but heck even then SOME of them it's hard to justify.... as in the case of The Last Of Us. Heck, it's hard to say if it's even worth a full graphical remaster of Metal Gear Solid 4 or Final Fantasy XIII. Slap a higher frame rate and some higher res textures in there and that'll be enough.
I'm glad the PC doesn't need a bunch of apologists and RUclips channels putting out PR for them. Sony sure has a lot of that going on despite how anti consumer they have been and continue to be.
@@joshstephens413PCs are more than a gaming item, like they do have other uses while consoles are gaming specific. Let's not act like they are comparable.
Sony needs to return their gaming HQ to Japan and go back to making both high end games and smaller, filler "indie-style" games like they used to. Go back and revist their rich history of old IPs that were fun from the PS1 and PS2 era and do smaller remakes or remasters of them as well as some long-desired sequels. Not all games have to be big budget, live-service monsters. Some can just be nice little time-wasters that only take a day or two to complete, and some can be a single-player game that just gets new content here and there to basically expand the game over time.
Regarding Ghosts of Yotei, I feel like y'all are sleeping on a potential Ainu vs Matsunae war that could be going on in this title. Context: The game is set in Hokkaido in the early days of the Edo period. (1603) The Ainu and Mainland Japan had only limited interactions before this time period and the Shogunate was planning to expand into their territory. The Shogunate, specifically represented the Matsunae clan will be taking the role of the Mongols in the first game (powerful, foreign invaders) while the native Ainu will probably be taking the role of Japan. I'll say this. MS has the better "set top box" experience right now. I'm at a loss as to how Sony dropped the ball there. The optical drive DOES in fact have three laser diodes, one's specifically for CDs, but it has no software ability to play back CDs, one of the easiest things for them to code in support for. Indeed, they don't have any sort of media player for files on a USB stick, such as MP3, FLAC, or various video files. Their DVD and Bluray playback has a rather annoying "playing" icon displayed right in the middle of the screen, which results in a lot of frustration on certain discs formatted to move between multiple "chapters" seamlessly, and there's no built in general purpose web browser, such as a port of Firefox or something. (On that last point, there ARE workaround exploits, but that's the problem, they're just workaround exploits).

I think they need to change the payment structure, and have their departments on lower wages before paying bonuses based on the game’s success to create a “customer first” culture.
I mean Trixel Creative (the team that made the one of the best levels back when the lbp3 servers were still alive, Return to Carnevalia.) Is making a spiritual successor in the form of Restitched. So there is going to be something in the future we have to look forward to on PC.
I do have to say, this was an excellent video. Anyone who came to this with little to no idea about Sony’s gaming empire, will leave it with a full and comprehensive understanding of their recent history, where they are now and how they got there. A superbly organised and laid out presentation. Thank you.
The lead actress for ghost of yotei, isnt exactly doing the sony any favors. It really does not look good having your lead actress fighting with and insulting fans. It is insane that they think they can be a representative of a company like that, and be that abrasive. There is the issue of free speech, but there is also such as thing as a brand you create when you are being famous. It is why politicians dont usually run their own social media. That means that sony needs to be careful who they associate their brand with, otherwise a person can tarnish your brand. This is what happened with rachel zegler and snow white, or bree larson and captain marvel.
@scruffynerfherder33 I think if people want to be an activist, they shouldn't pursue a career as a famous person. And if they want to pursue activism as a famous person, like an actor, it should be carefully managed, middle of the road activism that no one will get offended at. Aw! You want to support the pandas!? Stuff like that. Everything you do should be trying to cultivate and nurture your customer base, but too many of these entertainers say dumb things that would directly offend the people they should be trying to convince to see their movie. Bree larson was stupid, because she attacked men, which should've been her target audience for a super hero movie. By doing that she made women her target audience that meant ticket sales would've suffered greatly since women dont go see them. She then became a pariah to superhero films, because she was now labeled anti-male by the male audience and they no longer wanted to watch her. It doesn't help that she is a mediocre to bad actress. Rachel zeglar, messed up because she attacked the nostalgia of the original movie she was supposed to represent. You don't do that when your supposed to be using that nostalgia to sell the movie. The only time you should say bad things about a nostalgia property is when you know that most people would like something fixed, like the second disk for xenogears.
To be clear about Ghost of Yotei, 1603 is the last year of the Sengoku period with its infamous battle of Sekigahara, but Oda Nobunaga and Hattori Hanzo have already been dead for years. But it also is the period were the first japanese people came to Ezo (Hokkaido) which is probably where the story will focus in my opinion.
I'll take a step back and look at the industry as a whole and start laughing. Mainly cause that console war we had when we were kids is completely useless now since all of these companies are screw ups😂 Xbox, Playstation, PC, even the Switch. Just seems like pick which hole you get fucked in
The fuck you talking about Nintendo and the Switch are “screw ups”? It’s the most sold console since the PlayStation 2 and most of their own first-party games have sold incredibly well. If anything, Nintendo are the ones laughing to the bank at Sony and Xbox
@@Marksman3434 @Marksman3434 Bro there's so many games on the Switch that shouldn't be sold on there, the new Lolipop Chainsaw Remaster runs like dogshit on there. I was saying any device you choose to play, you will have your own subset of issues. Switch favors portability over performance, Xbox locks games at 30fps, Sony makes us pay more for the PS5 since they just spent $400 million on Concord. Many PC ports of PS5 games have been shit the past few years, loaded with Denuvo, Playstation account required for certain PC games, etc. Point is, pick your poison and keep bitching online lol
@@Marksman3434sales is not the same as public perception or timelessness of games. Also, just to put things into perspective, Sony's market cap is around 120.1 billion while Nintendo's is 65.56 billion. Nintendo repeatedly shoots itself in the foot holding back their game design. They want to be seen as kid friend instead of family friendly, which limits their IPs, and depth of story telling. Not to mention their hardware was dated when it released and that hinders depth of game play and fidelity. That is also not mentioning their toxic retaliation to their fan base. Of course this video highlights issues with Sony, so they both have their faults. I like both Sony and Nintendo, I have fond memories with both, but if I were ever in a situation to save one over the other Sony would win every time. However, I avoid having to chose by being on PC (well just steam deck for now).
@@PinkgloRadio Depends. Nintendo's lower market cap is offset by the fact that they are also debtless compared to the others. No one's making profits as large as Nintendo does, and that means they are the ones that are in danger the least of the three. Not to mention, you say the dated hardware is their biggest weakness, but I'd argue that it is their biggest strength because the average gamer is more able to afford their products and they make up for this weakness with some serious optimization to hit the required targets for their games. Sony's higher market cap is offset by much higher sunk costs which means flops like Concord hits them harder than such a flop would to Nintendo, hypothetically speaking.
With everyone that's left of the Japan studio who helped to make astrobot I think Dev teams like that size of I think it was 60 people will become the new norm soon because it's easier to make a game with that many people working together then the thousands of people on other studios dev teams in my opinion and I hope that Sony of Japan takes more active role in helping with other Sony properties to in the future because to me they know how to add quality in to their games better than Sony of America right now
I was born in the 80s and got into gaming early with the Nintendo 8bit, i then got to experience each generation afterwards, all the new stuff each console brought that made them unique, graphics getting better and better, it was one hell of a ride seeing and experiencing Playstation graphics for the first time after playing mostly Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Mega Drive etc. Each generation brought something new that made that console stand out, something that made it different compared to the rest. Nowadays however all im seeing is these fancy looking consoles having the same graphics, the same sounds, and most of the time the exact same games. Not to mention as i grew up and got a job i could finally afford decent gaming computers, and these days the majority of console games are also available on PC, so i see no reason to get a console anymore at this point in time, except the Nintendo Switch, i have to applaud Nintendo for still staying "unique" and innovative in this age of stagnant gaming. It is most likely due to the existence of the Switch that Valve went ahead and made the Steam Deck which i have heard lots of people enjoy. I believe the problem with game developers these days are that they focus on money more then making fun games, it has become too much of a money making machine, that and they are trying to "Min-Max" the production of games, and playing it safe rather than taking chances, and lastly, i think a lot of game companies have been getting to "big" for their own good, they have been buying up smaller companies en masse and now we see it bursting at the seams and things start to collapse.
I’m so confused as to how the game that nobody wants has sold over 16 millions copies and the Bloodbprne has only sold 7 over the same amount of time. Could people just be full of shit 🤔. How after elder ring, this game hasn’t gotten more copies sold? It’s weird how that happens.
Yep, sold to all the scalpers that are trying to get a die-hard Sony fan to spend over $1000 for one.... but it does show basically anything they put out. Someone is going to buy it... Just not the right someone..
@@arcadeportal32 why isnt it the right someone? If hasnt bought a console for a while and they have a bit more money to spend but not enough for a high end PC - the PS5P isnt a terrible option
@andrewramirez9727 I mean the scalpers clearly trying to take advantage of the situation and force people to pay more than the list price. $800 is already outrageous enough, imo if you want the whole PS5 Pro package. I'v seen scalpers listing the Pro for as high as $4000 for the one with the PS1 looking case plates.
@@andrewramirez9727 You can buy a pc that competes and beats with the ps5 for about the same price. If you factor in the yearly sub for consoles life span you can easily build a that crushes a ps5p ($700 + yearly sub $80 * average lifespan of console 7 years = $1,260 not including games). The PS5P is an awful option over just getting a pc. You are locked into the sony ecosystem, cant do even half the things a pc can do, you can upgrade any part whenever, you have steam, you have freedom, better game prices, no online sub, you can mod your games, you can play with a controller, and you can play on a tv. PC is just objectively better in every way.
I've been gaming since the late 1970's and I VASTLY prefer the games Microsoft has on offer. They own my favorite studios - Obsidian, Bethesda, Activision/Blizzard, InXile, etc. GamePass for PC is the best deal out there IMO.
I have to agree. I'd never buy skyrim special addition, bards tale remastered, halo infinite, that one space game, etc on their own, but being able to play them as much as i want is fantastic.
12:07 I have yet to see a credible argument for this 'more expensive than ever' claim, if any at all. Just spend less. Not our fault or problem. It would make sense that they are LESS expensive, given how we no longer use cartridges nor even have to use discs. You can just go all digital and forget about all costs associated with a physical release.
Concord was Herman Hulst's baby? What gave it away? The fact that a limited-edition Concord themed PS5 controller was made? The fact that the upcoming gaming-themed TV show Secret Level has an episode dedicated to Concord? The fact that he literally said Concord had the potential to replace Horizon as Sony's "most important franchise"? I have never seen a more egregious example of putting all of one's eggs into one basket.
I gave up on consoles when they started doing a "refresh upgrade" after two years. It useed to be you bought a console and you were done for 5-6 years. Nope, not doing it.
There seems to be alot to talk about and so many dynamics, but it's simple. Make good games and people will come. We have lost MORE in gaming in 20 years then what we have gotten, you got one good triple A company valve the rest are all gunna fall because they watched gaming documentary on Netflix, and think they can turn gaming back into arcades. That's the real goal.
i hate to say this - but horizon zero dawn does need a remaster - for PC.. the pc port is so badly done, audio compression, crashes ect. and on microsoft - get rid of the dumb 18 month cycle for 343 devs - they cant cook if they know they wont be working on it long enough to make a difference.
I feel like I'm taking crazypills hearing people praise Aloy's new look in the remaster, she literally looks worse, skin like she's never even seen the sun and the modeller has never seen skin
You're in the minority there,it's reviews on steam are stellar,i also personally own and it was great. And the mods do more for it than the remaster ever will. You're literally the first person I've ever seen with this opinion which you're entitled to,but it's definitely not the majority, that's for sure.
@@CrispBaker think he was responding to me - in which case id like to point out the audio for npcs, and worst of all Aloy, sounds crunchy as fuck compared to when i played it on console, and on console i didn't need to lock my game to 30fps to prevent it from crashing. nobody should even have to mod a game to make it playable either, that's just sickening and dev's should stop leaving it up to modders to fix their problems.

Sony has massive success, then their ego catches back up with them and they have catastrophic failure.
Every other gen. Like clockwork.

The PlayStation PR situation is insane
Not as insane as Ubisoft... the company is on fire.

You still get your samurai warfare stuff but you also get to see how the clans and the shogunate were going to oppress the Ainu.
(the hopelessly outmatched locals who must use subterfuge and asymmetric warfare to win)

Seems to be a pattern here.
Reminds me of bree larson
Of course she’s going to be a bit abrasive if she’s being harassed by a mob of sexist snowflakes

People are upset about the PS5 pro being 700... but I'm looking to spend that for a video card alone...
@psychoreactive atleast that video card will increase your graphics substantially more than the ps5 pro will.
@@scruffynerfherder33 yeah, monster hunter wilds is gonna run 30FPS on PS5 with frame generation... The console is lacking
Only $700?! I'm kidding. Graphics cards are ridiculously expensive.
@@NihongoWakannaithats ridiculous
@@scruffynerfherder33That graphics card might also hold it's value just as well, if not better than the Ps5
Sony should have stayed in Japan.
I’m so confused as to how the game that nobody wants has sold over 16 millions copies and the Bloodbprne has only sold 7 over the same amount of time. Could people just be full of shit 🤔. How after elder ring, this game hasn’t gotten more copies sold? It’s weird how that happens.
the instant that Pedro Pascal is gone from the series, most of the audience will be gone too, regardless of the game
Does it matter? The PS5 Pro and anniversary bundle just sold out completely!
Yep, sold to all the scalpers that are trying to get a die-hard Sony fan to spend over $1000 for one.... but it does show basically anything they put out. Someone is going to buy it... Just not the right someone..
@@arcadeportal32 why isnt it the right someone? If hasnt bought a console for a while and they have a bit more money to spend but not enough for a high end PC - the PS5P isnt a terrible option
how disappointing
Remember they cancelled games and shut down some studios all for concord
Bro gaslight at its best
Thanks for the game industry news!
Yeah. Sony is more for kiddies for sure. All my zoomer employees play ps5. When they see my 4090 in action their jaws drop though
Sony looked at Astrobot and said,
"We've learned nothing "
12:07 I have yet to see a credible argument for this 'more expensive than ever' claim, if any at all. Just spend less. Not our fault or problem. It would make sense that they are LESS expensive, given how we no longer use cartridges nor even have to use discs. You can just go all digital and forget about all costs associated with a physical release.
Nintendo be like, "you what now?"
Kojima is extremely overrated and he does very bland games without a co creative team that tells him no and reign him in.
I gave up on consoles when they started doing a "refresh upgrade" after two years. It useed to be you bought a console and you were done for 5-6 years. Nope, not doing it.
In the end, PC master race
@@TheGamerGuy1981 ...I'm talking about the H:ZD remaster which isn't even out yet
Pony harder
@@CrispBaker think he was responding to me - in which case id like to point out the audio for npcs, and worst of all Aloy, sounds crunchy as fuck compared to when i played it on console, and on console i didn't need to lock my game to 30fps to prevent it from crashing.
nobody should even have to mod a game to make it playable either, that's just sickening and dev's should stop leaving it up to modders to fix their problems.
get rid of 343 entirely. worst studio ever. not a single ball in. literally ruined the halo franchise.
I actually bought my gaming PC + Monitor + Keyboard + Mouse for $1100.
The pricing of these consoles might actually surpass that one day wow.
