Let's be honest, almost all of us were shocked yet glad that Kokomi had a revolutionary change in genshin Impact's history. She went down below immediately after her release to rising to the top as a meta character. Reminds me of her demo where her ancestors dwelled deep in the ocean and this time, Kokomi (current generation) can now see the starry sky above.
The biggest buff kokomi got was the the introduction of bleed mechanics.

Kokomi is one of those characters who were severely underrated to become one of the most overrated character in the game

Kokomi was trashed on release because pure healers were unnecessary at that time. She was basically useless and not worth the primos.
A lot changed since then.
Mihoyo released the clam set, which lets Kokomi take advantage of her overhealing to deal decent damage.
They nerfed the shield meta by introducing new mobs like the wolves, which shield penetrate and inflict bleeding damage. That was a direct nerf to Zhongli and Diona, who everyone used all the time.
Lastly, they introduced a new mechanic in Spiral Abyss that inflicted team damage whenever you killed an opponent.
So they deliberately forced a change to the meta which made healers mandatory in the spiral abyss.
I got around it by just using Barbara and Jean in my two teams, but the above changes definitely made Kokomi a much more useful character... which she wasn't on her initial release.

There's no way you've put extremely inflexible hypercarries in top 10, but not Yelan who is easily one of the strongest and most versatile units in the game on par with Nahida and Kazuha. Just because she has a great 4* analog doesn't make her less valuable or powerful.

I am a Hu Tao main, but putting her above Yelan is one of the most confusing decisions
@@ingenuitypulse6254 well, the video is called "top 10 best Genshin characters", not "top 10 best Genshin characters for newcomers". Yelan is definitely one of the strongest units, and the fact that Xingqiu exists doesn't diminish any of her power
@@rozee8516 as I said, the sole fact that Xingqiu exists doesn't make Yelan weaker. Her pull value might go down, but all of strengths still remain and there's 0 logic as to why she's not considered "one of the top 10 best characters", because she objectively is
I pulled Kokomi by accident cause I had extra primos after pulling Ganyu. I had no idea she’d end up being such a core part of my teams, especially w Nahida. I’m rlly glad things turned out that way :)

My two mates reprimanded me for pulling Kokomi during her first banner. Now who's laughing, boys? Jk, they have Kokomi too. Mine is just better than theirs because I actually used my brain and gave her R5 TTDS instead of Prototype Amber.
Very strange to see Yelan in honorable mentions section due to Xingqiu having way more versatility and utility, and then not even see Ganyu in the honorable mentions, who may have lower raw damage, but not only has better utility in cryo application but also greater versatility as she can be played support, freeze, or melt DPS, whereas Ayaka is just raw damage.
Adding on the mentioning of using Kazuha in the overworld, but not mentioning other characters' overworld utility like Yelan's running, Nahida's item collection, Zhongli's mining, etc.

ayaka has dodge , frontload damage also uses 4pc bs set and sword user which is least clunky of all weapon types and uses freeze to highest extent
Ganyu's versatility doesn't really matter that much because DPS is her best role and Ayaka does beat her there. It's not like Ganyu is bad, but Ayaka is just better. Also a character like Zhongli isn't going to make it into the top 10 (as much as I love him) because his mining is not enough to offset the fact that the utility he provides in combat isn't top 10 worthy. Kazuha's got mentioned because it's massively helpful alongside him being one of the best supports in the game.
xingqiu is no more versatile than Yelan, Yelan is used not only in teams with reactions, but also in physical teams with Eula, she is used as a subdps and buffer by many main dps, since she gives a buff to damage plus strong subdps and does not stretch rotations like Xingqiu and his long cooldown.
@@lolihunterpro really ? Interrupt resistance is way more important for eula , yelan has massive er issue if used as solo hydro in teams.
It's hard to explain how satisfying it is to see people finally see how good Kokomi is. I used to say, she's incredibly easy to build, makes you basically immortal and even though at the time, the characters to really synergize with her weren't as many as now, with how long she can spread hydro so easily, it was only a matter of time before she became a beast.
I'm surprised you mentioned Kazuhas overworld utility but didn't mention nahida's or zhongli's.
I mean being able to grab multiple thing from a distance (Even if its not too much) with nahida is really handy.
Also the ore mining with zhongli is very efficient and while razor can break ores with his e, i feel like he doesnt have the same range as zhongli and well zhongli as you mentioned is very useful in combat been able to slot in many teams while razor is really niche
Nahida's greatest ability is reading minds, they even made playable characters readable in recent quests. Extra fan service and experience that only she can provide.

nahidas ability to collect stuff is so convenient that I'd rather wait the cooldown to pick up some berries rather than click f 3 times lol

Yeah Ying'er is the best character, I can solo Azdaha with her.
There is no good reason why Yelan should not be on the list. Her single target DPS alone is literally more than most entire teams.
Nothing means more to me then Kokomi finally getting the love she deserves. She was one of my first five star pulls and I would not trade her for any other character
I remember when I hard she was releasing on first anniversary I completely skipped raidens first rotation because I wanted kokomi so much even if she wasn't seen as the best unit on release
Vars: Yelan is an honorable mention cuz she’s less versatile than Xingqiu
Also Vars: puts Hu Tao and Ayaka near the top of the list despite only being known for their raw damage

@@banjoowo4001 He means that for CN theorycrafters, that's a given: in China/Japan it's pretty common to spend on games, so C2R1 is often a standard adopted.
EN inetead focuses a lot more on maximizing the damage, since here C0 is the most common scenario.
There, the focus is way more towards comfort, since they usually already have the damage through constellations/5* weapons.
Basically here Theorycrafters assume we're all f2p, CN theorycrafters we're all light spenders

Respect your opinion but hard disagree on some points.
You said the honorable mentions arent as multi purpose as the main list characters, but then you have Fischl and Yelan as honorable mentions, while someone like Hu Tao makes it into the main list ?? First off, Fischl. She is literally the current best electro applicator in the game, with a straight foward build and is pretty much the core electro of any Quicken comp. Every single major aggravate/spread team has Fischl for a reason. Her insane electro application and the off field DMG she provide through aggravates due to her passive not having ICD.
As for Yelan, I think you completely forgot about her passive lol. Yes Xingqiu has slightly better Hydro application and some utility (which IMO you kinda overrated, as the "healing" he offers is basically a non factor and the resistence to interruption provided by his skill only lasts as long as the swords themselves, which have worse durability than pretty much any shield that isn't crystallize), but Yelan's passive basically makes her a fusion between him and Bennett due to the attack buff it provides. If you want to bring overworld into the equation the gap gets even further as Yelan's E gives you the current fastest running speed in the game for exploration.
Now you compare Fischl and Yelan to someone like Hu Tao. First off, Hu Tao is nigh-unplayable without a shielder due to her passive getting her to low HP, and if you use healing to deal with that, you obviously lose a big chuck of her DMG. She is also cluncky to play without C1 due to stamina issues and Team-wise, the gap in DMG potential between Hu Tao/Zhongli/Double Hydro and any other team Hu Tao can be in is quite large. Considering that, how is that someone like Hu Tao, that requires so much more investment and a specific team centered around her makes it into a list whose one of the main criteria you stated is how multi purpose a character is, yet versatile units that fit into a multitude of teams like Fischl and Yelan dont ?

I have Kokomi since day 1 and boy, I absolutely regret nothing. Not only that she is absolutely easy to build, but she kept literally everyone alive even when my coop mate and I had no decent shielder or at low level. I once cleared a level 88 domain with 2 level 40s characters with her 😂😂😂
Same except the only thing I regret is accidentally getting her C1..

I think there is one strange thing about your character selection in this video. You put Yelan in honourable mention and Xingqiu in top ten because the latter is more versatile, while the former focus mostly on damage. This is reasonable, and I agree with it, but right next to it, you put Ayaka in the top ten and leave Ganyu off the list. It is strange to me, because while Ayaka has better damage than Ganyu the latter is much more versatile with the ability to be both great DPS and support. From my perspective, Ganyu, while dethroned from ice DMG queen position, has better chance to stood against passage of time thanks to her ability to play as different roles in the team.
Ganyu is probably the best cryo support and dps in the game. Not only does she has god tier damage, she can also buff all cryo characters in the party. And melt ganyu is one of the most funniest team comps. Not even ayaka can snapshot enemies like ganyu.
Honestly yelan is straight better than xq its just that xq is more easily accessible as a 4*, in genshin dps is key, so xq is basically just a downgrade
I think because Ayaka is just easier to use while you have to get used to aiming mechanics to be able to use Ganyu
Yep, agree 100%.
I only wheel Ayaka out for a couple of Abyss chambers.
I use Ganyu constantly in the overworld and especially for boss fights, as she trivialises several bosses.
She benefitted much more from Shenhe than people give her credit for, because with Shenhe's buffs, my Ganyu one shots whole packs with her Frostflake arrow blooms.
100k every 3 seconds at extreme bow range will never be beaten imo (ignoring instants, even though my Ganyu is C6).
@@calvinwilson3617 Yeah no. They’re equal. The stagger resistance from XQ is insanely valuable and imo is on-par with yelan’s extra damage
Okay reading the comments I realize, yeah, I’m not the only one who was surprised at not seeing Ganyu on the list, and that I’m not the only one who thinks she is overall a more valuable unit than Ayaka due to her versatility.
I get probably excluding her due to not wanting to populate the top of the list with Cryo on-fielder DPS units, but I see I’m not the only one who thinks she should have then made honorable mentions list by the same token Yelan did.
clunky to play without shield, her freeze comp is bad for recent abyss cycles, her reverse melt is unreliable and the team suffers from energy issues, meanwhile Ayaka has neither of those, and is an overall better value with having f2p weapon options like amenoma available.

@@MultiDragonreaper you do realise that Hamayumi is only viable for melt and Morgana needs a dps bow else she falls flat, making melt ganyu the only viable f2p option which causes energy issues to XL as you dont have enough time for Bennett E, not to mention you wont even melt if enemy has some sort of elemental shield on them like fatui, electro mitachurl or abyss mages etc., and using Kaeya+Rosaria is better im reverse melt quickswap and overall easier to play and execute, Keqing has more value than Ganyu these days thanks to the dendro meta.

my current team is thoma, raiden, nahida and kokomi and man the girls carry me so hard. once i raise my alhatiham im going to swap off my thoma since i dont really use burgeon/burning nearly as much as catalyze and bloom. having even 3 of the top 10 can honestly make the entire game easier than just zhongli
13:53 Shogun's Burst Buff is not static but dynamic meaning that if her E was to wear off during battle Xiangling's Burst damage would also go down during that time
interesting i actually never knew this, i suppose since the duration is so crazy long its pretty much 100% uptime so i never noticed
Nahida improving quicken and hyperbloom teams are true except for anemo hyperbloom team where nahida dendro is too strong that it is rare to have electro on enemies for your anemo unit to swirl.
I plain don't run anemo and dendro together at all myself. They just don't jive. I run dendro with lightning water and fire.
Even Raiden can't that much electro
@@nk30020 Works for me. I run nahida kokomi and raiden and she procs the hyperblooms for 25 seconds. Works on most content pretty easy
@@nk30020 Also only 2 hyperblooms can deal damage at once anyway. You can consistently with kokomi keep about 2 cores up between procs of shoguns skill proccing hyperbloom so she provides more then enough electro. and it's AOE is rather massive for triggering them
I already have Bennet, Xianling and Sucrose. Now I just need to get Xingqu during the Lantern Rite, and I’ve got the holy quintet of 4 stars!
actually the elemental burst buff from raiden's skill can not be snapshotted
basically any buff that affects the stats that are visible in the character menu can be snapshotted but those that buff other stats (like burst damage in this case) are dynamic buffs
then there's elemental mastery that gets snapshot for amplifying reactions but not transformative ones (don't know about catalyse)
I'd give a spot to Beidou or at least as an honorable mention. Would love to see you make a video that talks about her.
Yelan honorable mention no way Wtf she is arguably the best character in the game for abyss as well as open world scenario so much that I will recommend people going for her C1 that will bring so much comfort in the open

@@lstsoul4376 nope kazuha is good but the reality is that sucrose is better 😂😂😂 than him and now with dendro in the mix you rather have sucrose for Em transfer and as for aggravate you rather another electro character for more aggravate because you can't swirl dendro only buffing one element is not good enough unless it's a hyper carry like raiden but on dendro teams everyone damage is split so no one does so much more damage than the others unless it's nahida but wait you can't swirl dendro so yeah kazuha has lost value compared to sucrose and as for yelan i can explain why she is the best if you want
@@lstsoul4376 Not true i love kazuha but realistically floors 9-11 are super easy so people only struggle with floor 12. And floor 12 is usually single target boss focused and dps check. Kazuha is ss tier for all content except floor 12 where hes still good but sucrose is just as good. Bennett xingqui raiden nahida are better at the very least, then arguably yelan or kazuha they are similar value
Since Kokomi's first banner she had a massive "upgrade" (not for her kit but by players) and this is why I love her so much She has became more popular since 3.0 and dendro changed players view whit elements and artéfacts. And I need to get this out of my chest, this year Lantern Rite was émotionnel for me I cried during the cutscenes... Rest In Peace Guizhong...

It's hilarious looking back at how many people were hating on Kokomi purely for negative crit rate. That was when people wanted every single character to be a main DPS. She has always been the best healer in the game, which is why I wanted her, the addition of corrosion and ocean hued clam just made her even better.
the fact that kokomi isnt put on most top tens but she still is constantly on the top 4 most used character in abyss alongside bennet, zhong li & nahida for almost 12 months (being above raiden, yelan, kazuha, xiangling and ayaka) and not even once going below it speaks a lot about how much she is a sleeper top-tier pick character and how the negative IQ mentality people still have and push of "only big dmg is meta" is prevalent no mather how good the character is in pratice over spreadsheets
Yep, majority of the players will pick comfort over big damage. Let's say Ayaka's freeze. Ayaka Mona Shenhe Kazuha is technically the biggest dmg team. However, Mona rotation is very strict, alongside no healer despite people saying, "enemies are frozen, you don't need healer". Kokomi offers comfort with much easier rotation along with ability to heal just in case they got busted or something.
Is simply the meta have big huge healer that cannot buff atk like bennet is just a « waist » of damage because in abyss kokomi is mostly used in dendro reaction team or just because your bennet is taken on the other half of the team when you need to complete a certain time to get all the star of abyss having every character doing damage or taking multiple roles like buff atk and heal is just Way more useful and I wonder where did you see that she’s one of the 4 more used character in abyss ??

@kazjire This is exactly the statement that proves the original commenter's intention lol. Just because she's not that strong does not mean she won't strive in the meta. Kazuha and Sucrose can't give as high damage as Itto and Eula yet they still are top tier characters and the two dps I mentioned didn't even reach this list despite being really strong characters.
50% from 100 is way more than 90% of 10. most used character from people who own that character is not a good benchmark by any means.
Hoyo is too regretful for the old 4 stars huh.
It's funny because they totally wrecked game balance with those characters. Most new 4* are worthless in comparison, and even 5* aren't as impressive as they should be.
I wonder how much those OP 4* characters have cost Mihoyo in lost sales.

Yeah tbh xiangling xinqiu bennet these 3 already beast even compared to some 5 stars, fischl sucrose too but the 3 earlier are no brainer and must build 100% and even deserve raised to max lvl. Idk why but raiden national always my go to in abyss they just amazing
@@malificajones7674 Their problem was not understanding their own meta and failing to benchmark 5 stars against 4 stars. Even today, they seem to have flipped the switch instead and taking new 4 stars and balancing them to just be worse than 5 stars in an attempt to gimp powercreep lol. There's no reason why 5 stars shouldn't at least be as good as the OG 4 stars at high constellations lol. It's pretty much what separates the good 5 stars from the bad.

May I suggest a "top 10 most versatile 5* to spend your primogems?" There's so many characters I really like and want, I'm having a hard time finding who prioritize as a F2P.

Yeah honestly, the best charas in the game will always be the supports rather than hypercarries like hutao and ayaka simply for being able to fit in more teams. Although raiden shld still be here just due to her insane utility as a battery for the team while doing a lot of damage, or even EM raiden for dendro teams. Shes definitely just as versatile as fischl
Tbh, all 5 stars have 4 star alternatives that can replace them to some extent. And a hyper DPS that provides no support utility should never feature above a support imo.

i think raiden should still be on the list but hu tao and ayaka shouldnt. theyre inflexible as hell and also ganyu should have been mentioned even though shes not that much of a flexible character too
I could definitely see fischl taking ayakas or hu Taos spot but definitely not raiden. IMO she’s by far the best character in the game and probably one of the most flexible
Putting Fischl in honourable mention only is a crime. She's flexible as all hell and is also a main stay in multiple meta comps.

I said it before and i will say it again, imo ayaka and ganyu are equal on strength, for me it makes no sense how so many people thinks a little more dmg from ayaka can overthrow all the utility ganyu provides without being behind in dmg. But oh well, everyone has their own opinions ig.

I think Ganyu being boring to play really skews a lot of peoples opinion towards her. Also theres the fact that most people only care for pure dps numbers and Ganyu is slightly behind Ayaka on freeze teams while melt Ganyu is "a waste of Bennett and Xiangling".

At 13:51 you said Xiangling snapshots Raiden burst DMG buff..... That's not the case, Raiden's buff is one of the few dynamic buffs that Xiangling can't snapshot. It can however buff her even when it's activated after Pyronado is cast
I was onboard with Kokomi immediately - a pure healer with -100% crit rate? What a relief, I can ignore those pesky stats and focus on HP% without penalty? And then the Ocean Hued Clam artifacts dropped and she was suddenly so, so broken.
Lately I run Nahida, Kokomi, Klee, and the last person is dead weight because they so often don't even get into the rotation.
As a Yelan main who also owns c6 xingqu finds this video very objectionable.. you cannot put yelan in honourable mentions when she is argubly the best hydro character there, deals tons of damage, have a minute amount of crowd control , overworld exploration running ability, scales completely of the stat which is most easy to get, have great f2p options, and for xingqu to be equally good as her you need a 5 star weapon on him.. she is a character on par with raiden and nahida
Sac sword is amazing on Xinqiu? Only issue, is that you need c6 on him.
If you really think about it the Xingqiu vs Yelan argument is very flawed. If you don't have Xingqiu Yelan is the closest thing to him and if you have him then getting Yelan means you can run double Hydro which is broken tbh. The argument gets dumber when pyro carries like Hu Tao get involved since they get their max value from double hydro rather than Xingqiu alone or yelan alone.
I'd like to point out that Xingqiu will be featured in Hu Tao/Yelan banner in the second phase so maybe you can look out for both yelan and xing
Not going for Hu Tao because she's not that easy to use for me, but definitely hope to get a Xingqiu, he completely eluded me on all his featured banners except Eula's first one. I got his C0, grabbed c1 and c2 from the events (lantern rite last year+irodori festival) and now he's C4 after coming home twice from standard. And Ningguang is there too, the character who I spent 186 pulls on rate-up banners only, and god know how many pulls on standard and other banners....just to get her from C1 to C2 in 1.5 years. Literally perfect banner for me.
I wish we could have Rosaria and Sayu on the current Alhaitham banner since earning Starglitter would be so much easier for me with them...
Suprised not to see Ganyu even in honorable mentions. Why so? When she became mediocre or just ok at best? You can easily get huge raw damage on her. Easily combined with top supports like Bennet, Sucrose or Xiangling. Works great in any situation (except cryo immune enemies obviously). I left Genshin for about year and when came back she was great as before unlike my other main Klee. Isn't this is futureproof? Her only downside is that she needs shielder or good CC. She is definetly isn't character that should be avoided

gosh legit have her on my team for the longest time and made her my front row dps, and can be a support because of her burst, she should have also landed a spot in top 10 and could have been par with ayaka since ayaka is all about damage while ganyu can be the damage or be the support.

I'd say xiangling is "broken" purely because of how well bennet can charge her. An 80 burst cost is super high so no ICD and snapshotting would've be less of an issue had itnot been for bennet
From an ayaka and ganyu main i say Ganyu is about equal to Ayaka, she deserved a spot in the top 10 too
Ganyu does less damage but is more consistent while also having a really good burst for support
Ayaka is mainly for dps and isn't as versatile as Ganyu
I'd say you're right that both are pretty equal, but Ayaka is just better for abyss and damage while Ganyu is better for consistency, support, and versatility.

I was honestly a little surprised you called Hu Tao easy to play. Even at c1 (which ive had for over a year) she zooms all over the place when facing multiple enemies, and it can be a bit hard to navigate, and at c0 a /lot/ of people find her insanely difficult to play. Id also personally put Yelan and Zhongli over Ayaka/Sucrose, but I get why people would disagree on the ZL part. I think Hu Tao being in the top 10 in general is pretty understandable though, just because of the absolutely insane single target damage she can deal with not that much investment into the other teammates
You can actually do similar single target damage to hutou by using hyperbloom. Its also easier to build.

Pretty solid list! 8/10 of them are also in my top 10! I do have Zhongli + Yelan over Hu Tao + Ayaka, but do see a strong argument for both
I feel like the issue with zhongli is in most teams he doesnt achieve much like hes just there for shield and loses you something else valuable like cc or more dmg. I think the thing holding him back is geo.

Not in any order because there is no 100% viable pull list tbh. These are the units that pop up in my mind immediately, which mean there still other units that are very good but I would not recommend as hard as these below.
5*: Zhongli, Ei, Nahida, Yelan, Ayaka, Kazuha.
4*: Bennett, Xingqiu, Sucrose, Fischl, Xiangling.
I suffer with being one of the few people lacking a sucrose lategame, on the bright side I’m not missing any other good supports anymore.
Support FTW. With good supports, you can even play Amber as DPS.

As a Hu Tao main (c2 with Homa) i can say she is very strong BUT she is inflexible as hell. You require Yelan or Xingqiu (at least at c4) or both at the same time if you want to do big boy damage. You 100% require a Zhongli in abyss. You can not use Hu Tao without that strong shield. Yes Diona or noelle are both useable but their shields arent strong enough. Dont get me wrong, i use my Diona (c6) for another team. You also need to learn her game mechanics shes not an easy DPS to learn for optimum damage and stamina consumption. I love my hu tao and genuinely going for c3 even tho i dont need it at all, but she belongs below some of the ones you have said. And yes you need c1 to play hu tao without it its really difficult to play her.
I wldnt say u need zhongli for hutao. XQ is usually enough support for her since if u manage ur hp well, u can just burst for heals. I run HT(C1 with DB)+XQ+Yelan+XL and I can most of the time oonga boonga every stage in abyss easily without dying. Just kill em before they kill you. That's what I love about her. She can be used for any enemy and she still works well. The only stage I cant deal with is the dogs with corrosion since her hp bar gets eaten by both herself n the corrosion but tbf ZL doesnt rly solve that issue anyways.
If you want her to have the 50% buff all the time then shield is pretty much a must have. I've been Hutao / ganyu c0 main since 1.2/1.3(until 3.0) and I've always have zhongli on ganyu. I've been using her above 50% hp most of the time with qiqi since her damage scalling is insane and without using her talent she's still t0. C1 prob necessarily however as i said hutao and yelan are both t0 character, and abyss with t0 is a joke it's quite unnecessary to get extra damage from talent/weapon/cons
Well, there's Layla. Her shield is, naturally, no match for Zhongli's, but it's pretty durable and she has 100% uptime. I didn't pull for Hu Tao on her first rerun exactly bc I didn't have Zhongli and didn't have primos for C1, but if I was in the same situation now I would have pulled her, probably.
(In fact I won't pull her, but that's bc I kinda don't need another DPS and that I already know how much I suck at animation canceling lol)
You do not need Zhongli...i don't use a shielder with Tao, she staggers enemies like crazy and the game has a dodge button lol

I've been a Tao main myself ever since her tease, C0 till her first rerun, and I disagree with you. She doesn't need Zhongli to function in the abyss. Granted, I do use them together a lot. Nowadays tho, I mostly go Tao + Thoma + Xingqiu + Yelan. C1 does help to ease her gameplay, but it's not a must. Jump cancel is not the hardest thing to do, and even then I personally believe that people overblow Tao's issue with "mechanics". Even at C0, you can get away with 1 or 2 sprint cancels as long as you know for sure that you can kill the enemy on time.
Raiden does take some serious investment unless you got her signature weapon by some luck
i am playing zhongli in an account and kokomi in other acc. trust me my brain still works pretty hard while playing them
Zhongli not being in the list is just wrong. Ayaka and Hu Tao dont deserve to be there purely because they are 5 star main DPS units. This archetype will ALWAYS depend on the account and who the player wants to use. Xiangling is the only possible exception and thats becuse she's a free 4 star. I hardly disagree that Zhongli is not tier 0 anymore, he still does the same thing he always did. And Yelan is basicalyl Xinqiu on stereoids, so if Xinqiu gets to be in the list, so does Yelan. Besides, Hu Tao and Ayaka are so inflexible that they don't fit your own guidelines on who gets to be in the list.
I mean zhongli is not very necessary I’ve been fine with Koko and Baizhu if I had zhongli the game would be boring I would even say baizhu is a better pick in dendro related teams

Not to mention your heavily focused on trying to look at Yelan as a Xingqiu replacement but in reality Xingqius best teams are with Yelan and Yelan's best teams are with Xingqiu.
Edit: Also in the comments I saw the Ganyu not and Ayaka discussions and yes you contradict yourself again with putting Ayaka top 10 when she's less versatile than Ganyu who was not in the honorable mention on top of that.
Xingqiu is the only characters that was hard why I am not putting him in top 10, Yae Miko easily surpassed him with Dendro

I'm stuck between pulling for hu tao or yelan because i could really use a 2nd dps but yelan will basically fit in any team i build. tough choice
as a former dolphin who had c1 hutao and homa and now is f2p and has yelan, i will say hutao is really strong and can carry but you have to invest in her alot and part of the reason i dont play my old account anymore and went f2p is cuz hutao was inflexible and it got boring. I recommend yelan bc she can work in any team in the game and any future team, and works with any dendro team. Depends on your account tho but i think you will be happier long term, but if you love hutao/pyro hypercarry then go for it i wont deny she is crazy strong
Already went for Ayaka twice (lost the 50/50) on both of her banners :(. Though I don't really need her. Ayato, does a great job at keeping enemies frozen when paired with (Sucrose/Kazuha) and Rosaria + one more hydro. Also a great turn-your-brain-off character. Apply hydro via flex character(or Ayato Q) character, then swirl with Kazuha,/Sucrose, Rosaria E followed by Q switch back to Ayato and delete your enemies. Not skipping the next Kokomi rerun though.
How is ayaka versatile though? Like she only has 1 or 2 optimal team

If it were up to me i'd put Yelan in the top 10. Ofc you could use xingqiu, but in my opinion she has way more utility, not only in damage but exploration as well. Exploring the overworld with her is much less time consuming and more fun. In my opinion it can be easier to build her than xingqiu since she is f2p friendly, doesn't need atk, and she ascends with crt rate. Also not to mention that she increases on field characters dmg from her talent. You could also argue that she has the best c6 in the game by the sheer amount of dps she outputs. She could be used in many comps unlike hu tao for example, who can only be playd as a dps and preferably in a vape comp. Although Yelan may not be the best without her c2 in vape comps, she is still very useful and fun also! I definetaly recomend getting her
C2 yelan main here. I agree that yelan has more utility in exploration but xq has more utility during combat. Though simple utility such as dmg reduction and heal doesn't even come close to the damage focused playstyle that yelan has. Xq gives u dmg counters but yelan gives u so much dmg that enemies die before they even dmg u
I only use Xingqiu(plus Yelan) with Hu Tao/Raiden National. Yelan is my go-to for literally everything. I kinda get why he put Xingqiu in the top ten but imo, Xingqiu needs cons to be top tier while Yelan does not. Idk that's just what I think 🤔
Yelan should’ve been put instead of Kokomi, she’s better in hyperbloom and her weak hydro application pre C2 allows her to be played in quickbloom which is looking to be really really strong. Kokomi’s best use is freeze which is kind of falling off rn in comparison to dendro teams at low investment, and Kuki’s rise in the meta has also negated some of the need for healing in hyperbloom/quicken teams. Kokomi is great, but freeze teams aside she’s a comfort pick like Zhongli
Yelan is strictly worse than xingqiu in vape , freeze , bloom , hyperbloom and burgeon teams cause of her slow hydro application , in hyperbloom teams xingqiu make way more blooms which results in more damage

Sucrose and Kokomi. I had use of Xinqiu somewhere else,so I replaced him with Kokomi in my Tazer comp. Those characters have quite poor artifacts and yet they performed better than my main comp, which is my Diluc with multiple god tier artifacts... I cant imagine how good it will be when I upgrade their artifacts, especially their EM as Sucrose has just mere 400 EM ( she should have twice that )

I will say, even though I have C6 XQ, Yelan is probably to me the best decision ive made. She is just so convenient to play. She is about equal with XQ imo for abyss since while she has less utilities, her damage does make up for it most of the time (she can feel less clunky to play) And in overworld, where ur spending most of ur time in the game, shes like the best character to have. She can easily wipe out enemies and is so good for running around thanks to her E skill. Plus you can just play double hydro depending on which character you have so having both of them is definitely not a waste.
XQ + Yelan were the basis of my teams for a while. Then I added Zhongli and swapped DPS’ for an easy time. Worked great with Beidou (my first DPS), Xiao, and then Yoimiya. No regrets here
You shouldn't be conflicted about it because if you use both in the same team it's pretty broken she's probably the only hydro where you are not considering to bench Xingqiu for instance if you were to pull Childe then Xingqiu needs to be on the other side

Hmm I get why you cut Yelan but I’d argue the double hydro core is incredibly flexible, supporting taser, vaporize, and hyperbloom. I don’t need to add to the already existing comments there though. Instead, I’d cut Hu Tao for Fischl. She single-handedly carries Aggravate. While that’s not the most popular reaction out there, she’s a staple in most taser and a solid chunk of hyperbloom/quickbloom so well-worth the investment and definitely flexible. I might’ve cut Kokomi for Childe too but eh he’s difficult so
Eh, Hu Tao’s value definitely went down since 3.0. Hyperbloom teams are just that broken, performing as good if not better than well-built f2p Hu Tao, while requiring way less investment (you just need good elemental application and 800+ EM on your trigger) and being extremely braindead to play.
Ayaka, at least, has freeze utility and still one of the best unit against AoE chambers. The only thing that is going for Hu Tao in her niche - single-target - is that she scales better with whaling than hyperbloom teams.

Hu Tao is undoubtedly is a strong unit, but she is less valuable for an account than she used to be before 3.0.

And even if you go to high-mid investment, Raiden hypercarry scales potentially better in single-target and way better in multi-target. Plus, the point of saying best is at an standard. Usually, Keqing mains standards, which are already very demanding in terms of substats.
I’d actually argue that a new player would be better of going fir Yelan than Xingqiu. I say this because you want Xingqiu at C6, and that can be difficult fir new players. You can never really guarantee a C6 4 star, but you can gaurentee Yelan. Plus, fir a new player, she provides some ease fir exploration.
One would cost you 80 pulls, (considering ur on a guaranteed) and worse case could cost u 160, whiles the other can literally be gotten on standard or any 5 star banner he's in (like the banner upcoming), so I don't agree with the difficulty in getting xingqiu, the rest are great points though
@@indiereaper2442 That’s fair; you’re right that, although the rates fir non-banner 4 stars are low, you really can’t passively get Yelan like you can Xingqiu. I would still argue that getting him to C6 would be a challenge (ex. If you were brand new and pulled fir a 5 star, you’re likely to only get a specific banner 4 star to ~C1/C2).
The true winner is anyone who pulls on that banner and gets both of them.
I think another factor is that favonius bow her bis F2p weapon is reward from mondstadt Archon quest whereas with sacrificial/fav sword you gotta get lucky with gacha

I really hope that this top 10 wasn't in order from 10 -> 1 or 1 -> 10 cause god there are several problems with that alone if that is indeed the case. The metric being used to pick the best is flawed and contradicted by other characters in the list. Yelan should be in the top 10, Kokomi should be an honorable mention like Zhongli, Beidou and Kuki should be honorable mentions, heck Fischl should be top 10 over Hu Tao due to versatility, Ganyu should be over Ayaka due to versatility, and lastly Xiangling better not be ranked 1 as she is the only unit people declare as SS tier with a glaring issue being Energy.
I would split this list into you "need" these (you will survive without them but they unlock a new domain of the game to you):

tbh there's a pretty big problem with Xingqiu affecting mainly new players, energy. Xingqiu's burst needs 80 energy, and in most pyro cary vape teams (except for Hu Tao's), he's the sole hydro. His E has a huge cool down and generates 5 hydro particles, which generates 15 energy if he's on field. If you don't have a high refinement sacrificial, you'll basically never be able to get his burst back up on time (if you do the math, even if assuming monsters drop ~20 energy during this time, you'll still need like 400% ER).
My C0 Xingqiu has a R1 sacrificial with 290% ER and I can confirm that it is not enough if the sacrificial reset E does not trigger.

It's because your Sac Sword is only refinement 1, it doesn't activate most of the time. Use Favonius Sword if you need more energy.
Kokomi can got outheal if you got max stack corrosion but if your kokomi have decent artifact especialy got atk spd support yeah even max corrosion unable to knock her out.
i think the list is pretty good. but i not only agree with many comments saying that yelan should be in the top 10 but moreover i think zhong li should be in there. and fischl *is* really great too. if you just called it top 13 characters and mixed the honorable mentions into the other 10 without a particular order, then i would have to completely agree with the list i think. there are some who suggest ganyu. i'm not sure whether i agree but i also wouldn't mind top 14 with her in it too. yes, you need to make a cut-off at *some* point. But i think after those 13/14 we should be good.
Zhong is mostly just there for turning off your brain tho. You literally will get worse at the game using him in general. (I say this as a person who has used him for FAR too long)

I agree with that bit about Xiangling. All patches do seem to have something new to increase her damage plus all of the polearms are so good on her, some better than others but still viable, making her so incredibly easy to build. The og 4 stars were just unintentionally strong.
XL always gets buffed cuz she can capitalise on atk,EM,ER,crit and dmg bonuses. Literally every stat that can come with a weapon is good on her and almost every passive related to them makes her perform good. I feel she’s one of the only units to use so many stats to her advantage in the game. Unless the polearm is Hp or def focused it’s Xiangling’s forever!

@@gravelor78 If you are talking about getting a good crit ratio, then of course it's not easy, but it's the same for all dps characters. Out of all of the dps units, Xiangling is easiest to build since she can use almost, if not all, of the polearms and the fact that you can build her with 4p witch, 4p emblem, 4p noblesse, or any 2p combinations of those and/or atk. She can be built many ways with similar damage outputs. If we compare her to any character built for dps, she is the most f2p friendly and easiest to build.

Good list, though after experimenting and watching videos of Sucrose and Kazuha, they are both more side grades than upgrades/downgrades, it's more impressive to see Sucrose being on par with a 5* than Kazuha trying to beat a 4*, they are both good units but Sucrose impresses me most.
Sucrose is a fun character. I always was sad I never drew her early in the game when i started but now I got her C6 and love her. Don't have Kazuha yet so i'll enjoy my little made alchemist till then
@@Am4t3r4su She's really good and fun, I suggest you still use her even with Kazuha on your account but I won't force you to JUST use Sucrose.

what an insane take, this took me back to 2021 where people severely underrated Kazuha on release and claimed he was worse than Sucrose and then he ended up being a top 3 character in the game.
@@gabrieldiaz6933 Depends on the time of release tho and synergies most of the time. Even kokomi was pretty bad overall for her release cause dendro didn't exist.
I'm a f2p player not focused a lot in optimisation, what do you think of a team ( Fischle, Benette, Xiangling , Sucrose ) ?
bueido and yelons specials stay on too after switching Xinling isent only one that stays active after switching.

Meanwhile Zhongli bypasses all the games mechanics. Corrosion doesn't even break the shield so that's a mute point. Oh no, I'm gonna be low health but NEVER die. Don't really see how anyone thinks he's not tier 0. I tape down your shield button and Zhongli beats any boss without you touching the controller.
You current character can still die by corrosion lol.
He is only useful for his shield and res shred.

I've only played now for a couple months and that's pn amd off too (which in a weird way kinda helps cause when I come back I almost always have a bunch of free stuff in the inbox) but even thou I prolly spent like 20 dollars at most on this game , I still have like 4 out of the 10 characters on this list which is kinda crazy considering outside of the characters they give u in the beginning I prolly have like 9 or 10 rolled characters
