Kind of. They were a souncloud idol group before they went pro. Vaporwave had been a thing on Soundcloud for like 20 years when they hit the idol scene. Saint Pepsi had like 4 albums by the time this song got a music video and flowershop 420 was already a dead meme in the Vaporwave scene. Vaporwave is a complex music genre basically just for hipster audiophiles like me that like listening to obscure music from like 50 years ago while looking at old sears catalogs to escape from the present for a bit, so it's not exactly going to hit with normies that like Ed Sheeran or whatever, not that modern music is bad or that Vaporwave CAN'T have mass appeal, I mean at the end of the day its just pop music for hipsters, but Vaporwave has a kind of HYPER capitalism slant to it that if you aren't in on that it's supposed to be kind of a joke, can be kind of grating since I mean who the fuck wants to burn their eyes looking at vhs quality gifs with MASSIVE visual defects, while listening to remixed elevator and mall music with old pop music vocals in Japanese?
@@ミチコ-j2b vaporwave has roots in late 90s music, funny enough in Japan itself. Shibuya Kei is basically analog Vaporwave. Shibuya is basically the cool part of Tokyo, they have A LOT of second hand shops so it attracts young poor people that get creative with their hobbies since they can't afford new they have to get crafty with older stuff. Anyway Shibuya has lots of second hand record shops and so young DJs would hang out there while buying records. So it started to become a trend among DJs to make songs with their most rare and obscure records to flex on each other, which gave birth to the Shibuya Kei music genre. One of the first true Vaporwave albums though was Eccojams vol 1 by Chuck Person which was released in 2009, but he was already making the style of music for a number of years before the release of that album.
I still return to this video once in a while ... can't belive this video is 9 years old. Somehow ... I feel 2 completely different layers of N O S T A L G I A when I listen to this track ... totally OUT OF THIS WORLD
I known this group for 24 hours, and found out they don't exist anymore. Luckily, a couple of the members now have solo careers. Best of luck to them. Hello from the Middle of Nowhere, USA.
So glad I grabbed this album on vinyl. So weird that they put it out this year though considering the album is 14 years old but still not complaining the whole album is primo.
Janiceofcourse not anymore. They disbanded. :/ A new project of one of the members is HALLCA open.spotify.com/album/1p0uZNkBClemcP3e0PkhCn?si=AFaJ-pOJQUyEvDVq490dug
A lot of Jpop artists & groups with this sound actually existed in the 80s. But they're recreating these beats & happy melodies & it's giving me all these feels nostalgia. Can't wait to sing this at karaoke. LOL
Especia was, ironically, ahead of it's time
Unironically
WORDD!!!!!! They would slap it during quarantine days
Vaporewave has been here since like, 2012-2014 wdym???

Diabolically underrated
How so?
i think about the vegetable opening all the time
Especia was too good for this world.
I still return to this video once in a while ... can't belive this video is 9 years old.

totally OUT OF THIS WORLD

it's like vaporware
That's Japanese idol pop for you. They're known for not having long music careers, but in time you get used to it. :'(
Haruka just released a solo album called Villa ! Her artist name is now HALLCA and her album is great
Especia! I love them, shame that I discovered them years after they disbanded
Macintosh plus
So glad I grabbed this album on vinyl. So weird that they put it out this year though considering the album is 14 years old but still not complaining the whole album is primo.
14 years? Gusto was released in 2014, so it'd be about 9 years old now, almost 10.
this is so 2000s, the frutiger aero vibes
This is the jam, it doesn't matter WHAT YEAR!!!!
4:25 I love this part
Just discovered this absolute bop

IDGAF MY FAVOURITE SONG OF ALL TIME
ESPECIA, YOU ARE LEGENDS!

for anyone that was looking for the lyrics!
it's 2021 and this is still a bop!
I like the City Pop feel theyre going for.
Yeah this is city pop...
How have I only just discovered this masterpiece of a song?!
This is REAL!!! REAL MUSIC!!! Especia is my favorite japan idol group!!!
SO RARE
still one of my favorite songs.
i was waiting for this song since i was 5 years old... i had no idea this vibe existed. happiest days in years :D
such an incredible tune! so sad I was late to this but glad somebody suggested you to me!
i am too late
Where did I go? I didn't know why.
Especia It's great
It's amazing that these clothes are now cool for the first time ever.
THANK YOU, THIS EXISTS!!!
Janiceofcourse not anymore. They disbanded. :/

This is fantastic. An '80s - Madonna like - japanese synthpop girlgroup. Can it get any better?
A lot of Jpop artists & groups with this sound actually existed in the 80s. But they're recreating these beats & happy melodies & it's giving me all these feels nostalgia. Can't wait to sing this at karaoke. LOL
