  • Thinking about going into character design? You should try animating characters with 2D animation! I also talk about how animation can actually help improve your drawing skills, instead of having to think you need good drawing skills before you even attempt 2D animation.

    I'm actually using 2d animation to improve my drawing. I mean repeatedly drawing something to create a fluid motion is naturally going to make you a better artist as you will be forced to understand the body, physics, foreshortening and perspective. it just makes sense!! also unlike normal sketching after you're done, you'll have a fun animation you can show your friends.
    p.s I loved kiko!

    Something I've noticed through my character design process is that the sooner I can get that character moving, even if it's not a design I think is done or even "good", the easier it is to see what works and what doesn't. Characters were made to move!

    Amazing how sometimes we just need someone to tell us that we are allowed to do something to start doing it. I subconsciously always felt like I shouldnt animate someone elses designs, it's a relief to take down that wall. Also, the animations in this video are AMAZING. Looking forward for some in depth video about background design since it's the thing that I love to do the most.

    I am an animator but I work mostly by myself or with a really small group. And I am not into work in the industry
    but the problem is it takes too much time to finish a project. But also once you get involve with more people you have to consider bigger money and it makes it more considering budget. Its like a big paradox HELP 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

    • @animatrix1490
      @animatrix1490 3 года назад +1

      Just my 2 cents: maybe try some smaller projects. Something TINY! Then you'll have something to show other people if you want them to help you. Like, "I want to make this bigger project. You can see I already did this smaller project, so it's safe to come work with me. I'm not going to just back out on this"

    I think getting drawovers is very rare unless you are a professional working somewhere. I never see anyone getting critiques or draw overs anywhere. I find people just tend to ignore beginner artists and pretend they don't exist until you get to a certain level by yourself. Or sometimes people are actually really bad at giving feedback and just use it a a way to insult and belittle the person asking for help.

    Hi, Toniko. I subscribed to tour channel because I am learning animation and your videos are awesome. They have helped me a lot. I am wondering if you could help me with an issue on timing. If I use 24 frames in a short animation Why does it take 2,93 seconds from beginning to end? I thought 24 frames were the exact equivalent of one second. Thanks a lot.
