I am shocked it only took 10 mutations plus a few levels of experience to get to the required stats and how much they melt the bosses at night. Truly a viable alternative to more typical boss fighters if keeping an eye on the time when entering the arenas.
If you ever edit the scoreboard, throw some sleepy z's on the megalosaurus, may prevent confusion. Also sweet job, now we know the megalo only needs to be amped for the dragon. That'll help with logistics.
I don’t know if it changed from Evolved to Ascended but the determination on whether the Megalosaurus uses the pick up attack or bites it normally is based on how far you are from the megalosaurus attacking something. If you are a good enough distance from a megalosaurus fight and no one is near them, they would attack normally. However, if you are too close, they start using the pick up attack no matter the size of the dino it’s attacking. This is why they are the most reliable tame for alpha Rockwell as you are going to be far away from Rockwell meaning that the megalosaurus will always bite normally on Rockwell. For the Dragon, it ignores the megalosaurus in Evolved at least, IDK if this coding carried over to Ascended but judging by your footage it seems that it applies to all 3 bosses now. The strategy megalosaurus users do is to get the dragon stuck on the megalosaurus while players are far away watching the fight as the megalosaurus attack normally due to you being far enough and the dragon is aggrod to you not the megalosaurus.
Ok, I'm satisfied. Even tho the megalos get the turd medal, I can't wait to raise my sleepy army and head it against the Island gang. Thank you for the video, much appreciated, mate!
TiiaAurora has a video explaining in depth why they swap between their grab and normal attack. The simple version is that a miniscule difference of distance between them and their target determines what attack they use. Something like 1/4th of a foundation. They tried to make the grab "close range", but because megalos use a medium sized hit box, and because things just clip into each other while fighting, anything bigger than them trips the grab check. Which shouldn't be possible, since they shouldn't try to use it on bosses at all, but that's Arks programming for you. You get around it by backing away from them, which causes the game to prioritize the normal bite. And from watching the one spider fight, it's exactly the same in ASA as it is in ASE. So they didn't bother to fix it. Megalos do have base damage on par with reapers off just a mate boost though and they attack faster and stack on each other better than rexes, so if you know how to work around it... yeah. Nothing else you can bring into a boss arena normally is even close.
My brother uses megalosaurus most, if not all the time and what I've noticed is that whenever he is assisting by attacking with the yuty (like you did), it for some reason promps the megalosaurus to use their secondary attack
Using ARK Smart Breeding in ASA mode. I could only get your numbers using a base of 60 in melee. eg 60 + 10 mutations + 52 levelups = 1211.9. with everything else matching what you said including the lv being 347 as seen in the video.
Interesting, I also had some irregularities when using the app. Have you tested it out on a server and a single player game? I'll have to test this out when i have a chance to see where the issue is
@@Boomsmith Man I miss those boys , asbthere are only two colour regions I had them jet black with red accents, about 2k damage or more per hit on alpha Rockwell
Those lionfish lions are the most broken thing ive ever seen, I remember on fjordur my tribemate and I did Alpha Dragon with a mate boosted pair, no mutations, 100% imprint, and 4 wyvern milk each to feed them to ignore the fire dmg and we killed it in like 5 min. If I recall the stats were like 18k hp and the rest dmg so like 600%
God I love these things so much, the rex of Aberration for good reason since their stats rival it and they become all time use there. It would be great if you could disable secondary attacks for them, I thought that was an option on the radial back in ASE but it would be ridiculously powerful if that was ingame in ASA
megalos are absolute machine so underrated... for dragon fights u should stay behind megalo army so they will stuck dragon and ur yut will not get burned
This was a great showcase of what the megs are capable of, also I think I know what's up with the a.i. they probably get stuck in a loop of picking something up that they can't. It's wildcard coding at its finest with a.i. ignoring (the bosses) a real threat and a.i. being stuck in loops. Although I don't really agree with the final score they only failed the dragon. At the very least they should get bronze imo.
Honestly I think they should have gotten a bronze for effort, considering they did so well against 2/3 of the roster of bosses. Ultimately the suitability of a dino for bossing comes down to racing against the flames of the dragon. If it didn't do so much damage, this list would probably be quite different.
Megalo's have the same base damage as a Trex , but are way faster than them. It didnt surprise me at all that they shredded the bosses like it was nothing 😅 ( refering to night time ). Good vid btw
If you test a Megalosaur's DPS at 100% Melee vs a Rex's DPS at 100%. Mega comes out like 33% higher overall while still rocking pretty comparable health. Incredibly slept on dino, night buff lasts ~40 minutes on Official servers so you shouldn't have an issue with most boss fights. The one exception might be the Tek Cave & Overseer as the travel through the cave as well as the fight itself often lasts around an hour (but even here, particularly skilled tribes could probably do it in time). Apart from that, the only other boss fight that Megas wouldn't be good for would be Moeder (but that is really meant to be water creatures only to be fair).
Not quite as crappy as the other crap entries as they cleared alpha on two, but fair is fair. Did enjoy seeing them rip through in the nighttime. I have rarely used them in my Ark adventures. Was eye opening for me.
I’m tired of being sleeping on the megalosaurus and I won’t rest until people know how much of a nightmare this little dreamer can be (god I love puns)
