This was great and I’ve wanted to find this shortcut of my 23 character email address for years. You hit the nail on the the head with this! Just showed my hubby this (a retired math teacher) & even he was impressed, too! I taught HIM something. Thank you so much. Stay safe & healthy in this viral nightmare.
I have noticed that since the time this video was made some apps have stopped taking the autocomplete - unsure of the exact cause. Does it work anywhere for you?
Wow... great tip. Thanks. That's worth subscribing for. BTW, I was part of the inner circle group. Good luck to you with your channel. I'm already hooked after the first video. If you're interested in learning family history, my channels are Genealogy TV and NC Ancestry. Rock on!
That's great! But why is it that when using text replacement items, in order for the address or phone number to be detected by the webpage, I have to delete the last letter or number and re-enter it in?
I’ve seen that as well - as best I can figure they are validating the entry based on keyboard input and text replacement somehow doesn’t trigger this to occur.
Thank you! 🥳🤗 Switched from Galaxy to iPhone and I absolutely am not a fan. From link previews to the keyboard not having numbers above qwerty and everything in between is driving me bonkers. 😭
Great tip. However, having been an Android user until a month ago, I’m finding keyboard shortcuts don’t work when initially signing in on a newly downloaded app. It requires me to enter the entire email, as no suggested text pops up, despite my having already entered shortcuts for the email. This, along with the inability to easily edit text in any format, be it emails, social media posts, Office docs, etc, honestly has me regretting my decision to swap the Galaxy Note for the iPhone 12 pro max. Any insight is greatly appreciated..
Hi, Kevin, I’ve seen that occur a bit since I initially put out this tip. I haven’t been able to pin down a cause or duplicate the issue. I’m currently on iOS 15 on my device and not experiencing it. I do see reports for some on iOS 14. It’s possible that some apps use a custom view and break the predictive text, however, this would be rare. More likely a bug. You could try and reset your predictive text library or factory resetting your device. Both rather inconvenient. To reset the predictive text, go to settings, General, Reset and choose “Reset Keyboard Dictionary”. I’d also be happy to try and duplicate the issue for you, if you can think of an app you experienced this in upon fresh install. Best of luck!
@@MakeHackTech thanks so much for the info. Sorry, but I actually just saw your reply. I’ll definitely try both suggestions, as my frustration continues. Another constant example… Regardless of what app I’m entering text; could be Gmail, text message, or anywhere else… when I’m entering my name, it always predicts Kevin, after I type the K. However, despite having the phone since April, after entering Kevin, it never predicts PARKS, until the entire name is typed out!! Also, I live in Chesterfield, and must’ve incorrectly typed Chesterjield at one point, so that’s what appears in predictive text every time, and the correct spelling does not, forcing me to type Chesterfield every time! Another frustration with the iPhone is the lack of a clipboard, so I can only paste the very last thing I’ve cut or copied, whereas Android has everything available on a clipboard. Lastly, I can honestly say the only thing preventing me from cutting my losses and going back to the latest Samsung Note is my love of the Airpods. Overall, I’m very frustrated with the iPhone, and iOS.
It works most native places but certain apps work differently and cause the autocomplete not to function - I think it has to do with the way some developers make apps in a non apple way
Any text can be made an autocomplete like this - some apps and field don’t accept it though so I suspect you’ll have less luck with password entries. I use 1password to fill many of mine.
Omg! Why the fuck are iPhone so annoyingly complicated?! The android just those this automatically. I have own several iPhone before and this was an issue that hated about the iPhones. … so finally looked it up on how to fix this… wow… just bullshit … btw thanks for posting video. You save me a lot time.
This is such a joke Are you all aware that android is just suggesting email addresses the moment you touch a field that says "email" ? Holy shit I hate that ios and android each fail miserably at totally different things
Short , simple and efficient... great job sir 👍🏽
Thank you SO much! I’ve been searching forever for this.
Thanks a million …yours was the clearest explanation …that’s including Apple Support!

Knew about text replacement in Microsoft office for years, but didn’t know they had it in iOS. Great tutorial!
Hey Thanks! Appreciate you checking it out!
Exactly what I needed, thank you
Yeah I've been using it for things like "On My Way", "Just restart your computer" but never thought for long emails. Good idea! :)

I can’t get it to work properly. The address comes up when I type the shortcut but it won’t insert.
Same
I just did it on one app by hitting the space bar. See if that works.

So helpful!
That was a great tip...and I didn't know that existed...

I'm in the trial off my iPhone. Always had Android, this exact thing is frustrating me. I may pay the money and send this iPhone back.

Still the same not working to me 😢
Nope, it doesn't work, any other suggestions??

How about the password

why not working to me.?😢
If it’s about 90% - certain apps must implement the text fields differently and don’t let the autocomplete work - Where are you running into issues?
This is such a joke

Lol yeah Android has a leg up on iOS on a few things that’s for sure
Thank you!
Thankyou!!!
