@@jonathancruz5932 The father must have also thought it looked ugly for an 8 year old like Ralphie to be wearing bunny pajamas especially since Ralphie is a boy and the bunny pajamas are pink where pink is for girls. Not only that, the father must have also thought Ralphie as an 8 year old is too old to be looking and dressing like a bunny, unless he was entertaining kids.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I've tried to prepare myself for that very same thing. I wanna say first, your comment brought me too tears, and secondly there's no way to prepare yourself for losing a parent. I'm pretty sure that I'm close this very situation as my dad is taking care of mom. She had 2 strokes that left her not able to do much or even talk clearly. Hes going down quick because of the obvious. Hes almost 80 and unfortunately im not physically within driving distance to help both of them and my brothers are out of state. I totally feel your pain but know our God is a great God and he knows how you feel and I assure you that your dad is in a better place. Hang in there..
This is such wholesome movie and I wished my wife enjoyed as much as I do. It's like a staple for the holidays..

Just like Ralphie in the story, Peter Billingsley was very embarrassed to wear the bunny suit in front of everyone on set. He didn’t have to do a lot of acting in it.

As he says, Flick catching him in it is the LAST thing he wants to have happen, OF COURSE; “Life at Warren G. Harding School in such an outfit could be PURE HELL!!!” I can JUST IMAGINE! But then, wouldn’t wearing such an outfit in front of Scott Farcus and Grover Dill be the LAST THING Ralphie would want to happen to him? Seems THAT would be more like it, those two would NEVER let him hear the last of it! Even after the total beating Ralphie’ gave Scott!

Heh, I like how at 3:25 it looks kind of like Ralphie is walking to the beat of the song, with those goofy bunny slippers looking up at him.
Ralphie faces pretty much every young boy nightmare in this scene with the pink bunny pajamas!! They are very cute and fluffy but not for a boy!! randy laughing and ralphie telling him to shut up is every brother reaction clearly!1 The old man probably had an experience very similiar qwhen he was gfrowing up and of course rightfully tells the mother to tell him to take it off!! So accurate for on christmas morning everyone is ready to burst open their christmas presents!1 The mother is so heartwarming and loving while the old man can barely keep his eyes openb!! of course when she hads him the blue bowling ball thanks alot right on the family jewels!! All of gthe actors sell thiss cene and mvie so real and sincere!1

Seems his Aunt Clara must be his GREAT-AUNT(and not an “aunt” aunt) if she would be at the age for Alzheimer’s. You know, a sister of one of his grandparents.

Truly a classic. A little before my time. I have great Christmas memories from the 70's. I used to change the " from and to" tags to watch people's expressions.
My uncle got a pair of pink slippers from my mother,and my niece got a GI Joe from my Dad.
I still haven't figured out what the rest of them got, but it was fun looking at their faces when they opened somebody else's presents.
This is how family should be, how precious!

Actor Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie, still owns that bunny suit. His mother always kept a few props/wardrobe items from her son's movies. He also still owns the cowboy outfit and the original Red Ryder BB gun.

Trivia: note the name of Ralphie’s school: Warren G. Harding School. I always say that back in the day, in early to mid 20th century, it was customary to dedicate schools to former presidents. There are even several elementary schools here in my hometown of York, Pennsylvania(several of which closed down a long time ago, former city elementary schools)-Madison Elementary, Jackson School, McKinley School, and Theodore Roosevelt School. In fact, the building that used to be Theodore Roosevelt School looks JUST LIKE Ralphie’s school! If you knew York, PA well enough, where this building is, you would SWEAR the scenes for Ralphie’s school were filmed there! It’s the similar architectural style, of course; the former Theodore Roosevelt school here in York, Pennsylvania was built in 1931.

I feel bad that Ralphie has to wear that whenever his aunt visits. Imagine her visiting during a time when Ralphie has a girlfriend over at the house one day and the aunt demands to see Ralphie in that bunny suit.
@ryanstauffer119 If that happened, maybe the father would have said to the aunt something like, "Clara, why did you give Ralphie this bunny pajamas, don't you know he's too old to wear something like that and that he looks like a deranged Easter Bunny?" Regarding a girlfriend, on the second film Ralphie got a girlfriend at the end of the movie where her name was Drucilla but, Ralphie was a teenager at that time so luckily he would have outgrown those bunny pajamas by then.

So yeah, I know about the girlfriend in that which is what inspired me to write this. Even with him outgrowing this bunny suit, the aunt could've gave him an even bigger size in the future.

If you want a synopsis of the film, it's about Ralphie who is a teenager wants a car and just when he found a car he loves, he accidentally caused it to get damaged and the owner of the car lot told him that he has until Christmas day to raise enough money to pay for the damages and said that if he doesn't have the certain amount of money, he will have Ralphie arrested. So Ralphie and his two best friends Flick and Schwartz had to find a way to get enough money before Christmas day. Regarding Ralphie outgrowing the bunny suit, it probably wouldn't be a necessary thing for him to wear since he would be too old to wear it. The only times it would be okay for him to wear it is if he's entertaining kids with the bunny pajamas.

I think Aunt Claira has her holidays & seasons mixed up. For one thing, give that bunny suit to the Easter Bunny, why didn't she give that sappy, bunny costume to Randy cause he was 6 yrs. old, but he was laughing at Ralphie for wearing it, so I wouldn't let Randy wear it either. I think Aunt Claira was smoking dope when she was sewing that sappy costume, I wouldn't let my 3 yr. old niece wear it even if she does visit. Ralphie's mom must've been smoking some serious weed when she said Aunt Claira always sends y'all the nicest gifts, yeah if the boys were little girls & even a little girl fetus would have sense enough not to wear that sappy costume. Mom & Aunt Claira must've been doing some serious weed smoking together. This was the most hilarious X-mas movie ever. Especially when Ralphie got out of the car to help his dad change a flat tire, the hubcap got knocked out of Ralphie's hands & he said "OH FUUUUUDGE"!!!!! & he got his mouth washed out with Lifebuoy bath soap. Mama asked him where he heard that word, of course he wanted to say his dad but he didn't he said his friend Shwartz, so ahe called Shwartz's mom & told her what Ralphie said & said Ralphie heard it from Shwartz & Shwartz's mom beat the whale whang out of him while stiil on the phone where everyone can hear it. Aunt Claria has to be the mother's aunt and also must have dementia due to old age. I would donate the bunny pajamas to the Salvation Army charity hamper and tell Aunt Claria that the pajamas shrunk in the wash and was too small for Ralphie so it had to be given away.
The old man was Billy Madison father in the movie, Billy Madison.
The Aunt thought he was a girl, so she bought him the bunny clothes.
