This one really has some good potential compared to the first version. Not that you couldn't get great things out of it, but had to work harder. The XD I could see myself enjoy using.
I can't decide between getting the Minilogue XD and Bass Station II (possibly both) or getting a Hydrasynth or the DeepMind 12. I'm still fairly new to synths. Purchased the Roland Gaia after watching one of Daniel's videos. Thoughts or suggestions? I do mostly my own music creation and some classic rock is what I'm into playing. Home studio and coffee house smaller gigs occasionally.
The Gaia and Bass Station 2 are both excellent synths, and easier to get your head around as someone new to synths. Both have good workflow, but the BSII doesn't even need a manual, it's so intuitive (I am lucky enough to own both). The DM is a great synth let down by its build quality, I am forever losing slider caps off mine. However the main reason I'd advise against it is that although powerful, it's also the most complex for a beginner. The XD sits closer to the Gaia and is very capable whilst not overwhelming a beginner, but it is more of a learning curve than the Novation. It's also by far the best build quality. The XD and BSII will have the best resale value, DM next, Gaia least. Personally, I'd go for the XD first, or the BS2 if money is tighter. All are good used buys.
Some people talking about how they don't like the presets I don't mind them at all and the sound is so lush I've had for 5 days and have only been through about 20 of them
I still dig the Minilogue and think because of its price point, The Desinger Takayushi is already like a legend, and the German red dot precision award. Realistically the most for your money is and will be with the minilogue, wanna go digital? download Korgs Ms20 plug in, or get the ps3300 from full bucket, ( surprisingly acurate and well built). Not only that I was able to find a guy who makes Korg plug ins, for 5$ I got a Minilogue plug, that once your sixteen step sequence is recorded- you can acess the other 30-40 parameters, instead of just the four lane automation pot. I can create just about any sound from it. from a water droplet to phatty phat moogy bass, its very metalic in sound, and i like that. too many people trying to achieve the same sound anyways. I believe firmly the MINILOGUE will be the classic. ( kind of already is)
Hi Steve. Yup. You'll notice that we didn't have to cut away much. The camera angles changed to keep it interesting, but it was soooo easy to just twiddle away continuously for a minute or two on each sound and get something that I really liked. Thanks for watching!
Can anyone speak to how the arp is when changing chords? The Grandmother and Matriarch seem to be the first arps around that wait til the arp has run to change chords so that it actually sounds good whereas most synths including the original Minilogue seem to reset awkwardly with each chord change. Wish all modern synths had this feature built in. Maybe Korg can introduce this in a firmware update
6:30....that pad is so good!!! almost Oberheim territory (I own an OB8) seriously....what amazing times we live in

Holy cow! That first demo patch at around 4:00 sounds wavetable!
doesn't it have a wavetable oscillator?
What an enticing little beast!
No question! It makes you want to just sit and tweak:-) Thanks for watching!
yo this synth gonna sell epic! gratest of all times!
Yee-haw to the CoffeeHouse giggers!
I am listening on decent headphones the xd sounds stunning...
( kind of already is)
Yes. They got it right this time!
Amazing ! You could tweak all day Great styling too . I might look at buying this one 👍
Hi Steve. Yup. You'll notice that we didn't have to cut away much. The camera angles changed to keep it interesting, but it was soooo easy to just twiddle away continuously for a minute or two on each sound and get something that I really liked. Thanks for watching!
Sound very nice. Waiting for the release date.
I'd say shut up and take my money but it isn't up on the website yet :(
Hi Karwood Bear. The link (above in the info section) has been corrected. Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Sweetwater Thanks! Don't spend my money all in one place.
Thank you for this video, keep it up!
Goat patch is the best patch.
Great demo of a lovely machine.
It's an amazing way to start 2019. Thanks for watching!
