One person's huge advantage is another person's huge disadvantage. The original is simpler and you don't have the cognitive overhead of thinking about which oscillator to use or the effort it takes to track it down, install it and so on.

Nice comparison video. I own both and actually find myself taking out the OG a lot more. One correction: You stated the OG’s delay was analog but it is actually a digital delay that just sounds Lofi/retro. Anyway I like it and with the Pre/Post switch one also can use just the high pass filter which is a very nice Junoesque addition. Btw the high pass filter on the other side seems to be an (anylogue 😅) analog one.
One shocking difference between the two are the original does not have a sustain pedal, nor does it respond over MIDI to sustain. Something that shocked me when I was going into production with it. I never planned on playing the mini keys, they are excellent for sound design though and like the keys for that. But when applying my sustain from the remote keyboard, the original Minilogue does not respond. Both synths are a must buy for anyone making EDM, serious synths for that. I think of 4voice as a monophonic synth that can play legato and use them for solo play since you can't blend 3 or 4 voice chords together. The 4 voice is very versatile since you can play monophonic too, plus unison for a big mono sound. I also use them for building big synths in a sampler, by layering patches together and panning into a stereo field, need analog for that. I love the original natural aluminum so easy to see (with my painted knobs). I cringe when working on the all black XD, so hard to see, wish they offered it with natural color. Yea I bought both, had the original but wanted (needed) a synth that had sustain. These are so inexpensive I think having both is not too outrageous. I can have a true stereo patch when using both together, panning each too. These Minilogues act as my solo voice for my poly digital synths when the harshness of high register notes go into aliasing. Just some of the most affordable analog polys and could be in production forever with a timeless product. Korg was the game changer in poly analog, just as Artruria was the original game changer in mono analog (MiniBrute). Fantastic creations.
Peak and Pulse2 are better analogue "must haves" for EDM, in ma 'pinion. Funnzie! I haven't "seen you" in a while. I used to enjoy some of your synth jams, I am now remembering.
If I'd have been buying one for myself, I'd have gotten the original, as I have lots of hardware and software fx etc. as well as other hardware synths. But since I was buying one as a gift for a long-time friend that had no additional hardware and little software, I went the XD route. This was 2021 when the price was $550 for a new XD. Both are lovely, and I wish I had space for even the desktop.

I spent a lot of time going back-and-forth before I picked the OG. I prefer the OG lever to the XD joystick. I like having the second full ADSR. I tend to prefer not having integrated effects because I'd rather choose effects separately. I'm occasionally tempted by the digital oscillator and polychain ability of the XD. But I always have to admit that those features just really don't justify the XD over the OG for me.
I totally agree about having a second ADSR. Also, the OG seems to allow for more subtle manipulation of the filter, which is everything when it comes to subtractive synthesis.

I've never understood why synths have built in FX. Violins and trombones don't come with built in effects and external effects are always better quality. The original for it's simplicity and tone!
I still didn't understand, is there only delay in the analog version of the effects processors? I think that if you connect the same effects processor as your digital brother to this analog synth, the sound will be as it should be excelent. 👍
xd has digital effects, original only has analog delay. yes, connect the original to any multieffects and it will sound amazing, or connect it to korg nts and then it has the same effects available as xd!
Never understood why they didn't continue the old stereo component metal look of the original in the logue series. I would've picked up a Prologue if it was that beautiful steel look.
I prefer OG version too. Digital oscillator on a fully analog synth is not my cup of tea. The sound should be OG, to me, analog with no digital bells and whistles.

The XD can load lots of new fx and oscillator from fm to virtual analog. That’s a massive advantage as you get the equavalent of a dozen synths in one
Opsix can do all the same stuff minilogue can and more.

yep! but adding reso in the filter cuts the bass, so you can use that in a pinch
you can add a new OSC that has hi pass filter
compare same preset with basic osc . no point to compare so different sounds.
