Welcome to Bulgaria! Don't let the naysayers discourage you; you'll find much to love here. The weather is improving, with winters that are not too cold and summers that, while hot, are quite bearable. If I were you, I'd consider knocking the whole thing down and starting from scratch with a simple building to live in. Your son can handle the work informally-Bulgarians are generally relaxed about legalities in such matters. Renovating an existing structure, however, can be quite challenging.
Thank you. The Bulgarians I have met are the most welcoming of people. Neighbours can’t do enough for us. There will always be negative people and they mainly seem to be ExPats. Chris is thinking along those lines after his inspection. Knock it down and start again. He has the knowledge so it’s his call on everything. I just want to know when the Swimming Pool will be done. I’d say they’re very relaxed. We’ve been told build what you want and then do the paperwork.
Came here 10 years ago , 2 years off grid in a shed got to know the locals and understand building techniques (old school) , brexshit ha🎉ppened, bought a 120 year old house .. lime mortar (varov rastov ) is your friend along with mud (animal shit and fibres ) , i have seen so many houses western europeans chuck concrete and gyips plaster .. houses dont breathe causing smells and rot ..
Chris has been restoring Listed Buildings in UK for years now. His speciality is Lime Mortar. He never mentions the C word. I do, just to wind him up because that’s what Dads do.
Agree that this seems like a great project, all the best of luck to you. Hope you enjoy Bulgaria as much as we do.
Thanks for the Support.
Great project I'm looking forward to future vids 👍
Many thanks.
