Father and Son buying properties in Bulgaria to renovate to help Military Veterans with PTSD. Website www.ukangroup.co.uk
Hi, just caught up with all your videos, well done and I look forward to more updates on your progress, in an earlier video you mentioned you were in Worcester uk are you based there?
Hi and welcome. I was just in Worcester for the day when I made that video
Can i ask what are you going to do to these properties once they are renovated, sell or rent out? If renting, is the market there for Bulgarians or Europeans wanting to rent them? Do not know much about Bulgaria or if its popular with Europeans. I have purchased a detatched property in the Spanish countryside to start up a b and b one day. I would also consider buying to renovate in Spain as there is a good tourist market. Anyway, good luck on your journey in Bulgaria 😊
Renovate them and rent out is the plan. Already had an offer for one of them. Maybe sell if the right offer comes in Bulgaria is becoming more popular and prices are starting to rise from what I can see. The neighbours around me are locals or from Norway, Italy and UK. I looked at Spain, Portugal and Italy a few years ago but it’s still an option on the table. Have a look at www.ukangroup.co.uk
Which province is that
Gabrovo
Just watched all your videos, you're tackling quite a lot lol, no wonder your son is so quiet, he sees what's ahead lol. I can also see the potential, there are loads of potential and hard work but what a great way to retire. At 52 I'm also looking at doing something similar, Will enjoy watching your journey.👍
Thanks for watching. Go for it, very cheap properties in Bulgaria. Lots of potential with the properties. Think Chris is still in Shock with my ideas if I’m honest lol.
Oh thats such a shame. I'm glad people like you and your son have the heart to save these lovely old houses, I wish you both success in your adventure.😊
Many thanks for your support
Hi , it's great what your doing & so funny seeing you lads climb them gates 😂 cant you just go through the gates ? I'm in between VT & Lovech region, if you've got any fig trees to trade that would be great ! Looking forward to the next video 😊
It was difficult for one of us getting over the gate as I forgot the key. I am sure we can work something out as that’s near us. You got any Walnuts to Trade?
So many abandoned properties in the one country, do you have any idea why?
The younger generation want to be in the Cities or move abroad to make more money. These are usually the Older Generation homes that have passed away and the family doesn’t want it.
... Indoor plants ... 🤣😂😂, I can't wait to see it finished, Good luck!! 🍻
Thanks.
How much are the prices there we need some ideas please kind of these houses ?
You can spend anything from £1000 to £1m. Depends what you buy, its condition and where you buy it. Then there are the Taxes and fees on top
Do you know if there is any significance to the pieces of fabric pinned beside every bed? The property is incredible, can't wait to see you both bring it back to life 😊
They have a lot of embroidered Wall Art in Bulgaria. I suspect it is an old tradition. Thanks for your Support
Came here 10 years ago , 2 years off grid in a shed got to know the locals and understand building techniques (old school) , brexshit ha🎉ppened, bought a 120 year old house .. lime mortar (varov rastov ) is your friend along with mud (animal shit and fibres ) , i have seen so many houses western europeans chuck concrete and gyips plaster .. houses dont breathe causing smells and rot ..
Chris has been restoring Listed Buildings in UK for years now. His speciality is Lime Mortar. He never mentions the C word. I do, just to wind him up because that’s what Dads do.
Subscribed. Hope to see many more videos on your channel.
There will be many more to come. We have Big Plans for both the Properties
Hi , am interested in growing fig trees , do you have any ?
Yes we do
Another great buy. enjoy your weekend & the tasks ahead.
Thanks, you too!
Looks like quite a challenge but the 2 of you aren't phased, nice. The places have massive potential, be good to see how you get on to the finish product. Are you in the north or South of Bulgaria? Interested as the weather in the South is supposed to be V hot in summer.
Chris has been a builder for nearly 20 years so isn’t phased by it. It’s just a time thing really as Bulgarians wheels can turn really slow at times. It’s in the Gabrovo Region between Lovech and Veliko Tarnovo. We have a place 5 miles from the Turkish Border also. No matter where we’ve been it V Hot in Summer.

Wow! you guys have your work cut-out for you. Quite a project! That'll definitely keep you busy for a long time. Many of us do the same. Good luck
Totally agree with you on that. A few years work ahead. However, No rush as the wheels turn a lot slower in Bulgaria.
Agree that this seems like a great project, all the best of luck to you. Hope you enjoy Bulgaria as much as we do.
Thanks for the Support.
All the best to you both on the new venture for vets good on you both. subbed look forwards to the vids.
Many thanks.
Great project I'm looking forward to future vids 👍
Many thanks.
Love the vid keep up the good work
Thanks for your support
Welcome to Bulgaria! Don't let the naysayers discourage you; you'll find much to love here. The weather is improving, with winters that are not too cold and summers that, while hot, are quite bearable. If I were you, I'd consider knocking the whole thing down and starting from scratch with a simple building to live in. Your son can handle the work informally-Bulgarians are generally relaxed about legalities in such matters. Renovating an existing structure, however, can be quite challenging.
Thank you. The Bulgarians I have met are the most welcoming of people. Neighbours can’t do enough for us. There will always be negative people and they mainly seem to be ExPats. Chris is thinking along those lines after his inspection. Knock it down and start again. He has the knowledge so it’s his call on everything. I just want to know when the Swimming Pool will be done. I’d say they’re very relaxed. We’ve been told build what you want and then do the paperwork.
Hi , nice house. Just subbed to follow the journey. Good luck!
Awesome! Thank you!
interesting
Good evening. What area of Bulgaria are you as I've got 2 properties in 2 villages just outside Pazardzhik.
Ooft a lot of work but will look awesome when finished ❤
I hope so!
