n this video I put the NIS Scaler application through its paces to see if it delivers on improving my FPS in VR. I test various settings and compare its performance against the OpenXR Development Tool for WMR and share the results. Tests done with HP Reverb G2 V2

This is for people who can't get good FPS in-game but want a better image.
So heads up. I was overclocking my 3080ti and with the new TURBO setting in Openxr toolkit, I started to get micro freezes after an hour of gameplay. I turned off the OC and left the power settings at max and heat max only so I could let the Nvidia driver push the card in-game. WOW, No studdering fighters and super smooth. So if you have this issue it might be the same problem I had. 💯
So I found that the overclocking issue was because I was running the Nvidia experience panel and I had left the power settings to maximum in addition to running a second overclocking program which I'm sure was not good which led to a quick test because I was only able to fly for about 30 minutes before the game became unplayable due to a failed overclock. Don't leave two programs running at the same time laughing out loud when they're intended to do the same thing
@@davidwaVR What do you mean power settings to maximum? Where do I find that?

Thanks Ice. I've been tanking so long and skinning tanks, that I'm starting at ground zero for flying. I may reach out to you so you can walk me through the process. I can tell your excited, and I hope, I'll be rewarded by using your settings. Thanks for all your hard work! Note: I'm running an AMD 3700x, 32gb 3600 ram, asus 3080Ti, and Reverb G2. The only problem I can remember from your previous videos is that I have steam/IL2 on a different drive than C (I use C only for my OS).
Yes. 😊 Just msg me on Discord
I didn't install OpenXR Toolkit because I have the same issue (Steam/IL2 on a different drive than C) because I thought it wouldn't work. Does this mean that OpenXR Toolkit could maybe work (but not guaranteed) when Steam/IL2 is on a different drive? I also wonder if OpenXR Toolkit only improves performance or does it also improve visuals?
@@maxeisert7466 I haven't found a work around. 😕 Same drive or no go.
@@davidwaVR Thx anyway for the effort.
@@maxeisert7466, it's an easy fix. Just save your startup file, and your input folder, Skins if you downloaded customs you don't want to download again. Save them to a file, And then uninstall and reinstall fresh to your C drive. Problem solved.
I got it to work by uninstalling steam VR. I keep my game installed in a separate drive and not on the c: drive. Thanks for your help on these settings. Been using them for a month or two now.
LoL I would have never thought of that. Nice thanks.
yeahhh thanksss i wait dcs configure tutorial same like this.....👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I think the DCS setup was much easier lol.
Awesome video, thank you for sharing your knowledge! Would most of these settings (in general) apply to DCS as well?
kinda. I just made a new video that shows you how to check each setting and the effect on the GPU and CPU in game so you can tweek it for your system like a pro.

@@davidwaVR Thank you, I'll check it out!
Great vids you're doing man. Do you know if there is a way to update to the new versions without wiping all your old settings? If I download the new version and install it will the old settings be saved?
I don't know if you would due to they change the control functionality
Every time i use Turbo, MSFS crashes to desktop when i start VR. No help to me. In DCS it doesn't do anything to FPS at all.
Turbo turns off any reprojection settings, AKA motion reprojection smoothing Etc. So if you have all those turned on it would be a problem. I wouldn't even try it in Microsoft Flight sim.
does this support the original Reverb as well ?
You can check openxr tool kit website mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/
Does Openxr toolkit need to be open while playing or once you applied all your setting can it be left off ?
you don't need to open it again unless you're going to change your key settings ctrl+f1 etc. Or update it. I never turn it on after that. Same with openxr you don't need to leave that open it runs in the background with windows based on what .exe you use. Hence the DLL code. 😊
Thanks!
Hi ice! Thank you for sharing this! I have installed the toolkit. But so far I have been unable to open the menu in the IL2 game. Please can you explain what you need to do to open it?
If it didn't pop up in your VR goggles then it didn't get the DLLs into the correct file. Do you use steam or standalone? Look at my older Video from on the Steam setup if you do. Also, you msg on the forms and I will get you my discord info from there and I can help you walk through the setup.
@@davidwaVR Hi Ice, ok I will look at your older video. I do use steam. Thank you for offering to help me. That is really good of you. Neil
@@woodysmodelworks3738 just make sure you help other people so they can enjoy the game as much as we do now
Hi! Is IL2 only for steam vr?
@@MrBJC3 no, it's depending on your headset. If you use a steam operated headset then you would use the steam version to run your goggles if you use Windows mixed reality you use Windows mixed reality if you use vario then whatever they use
But what does it look like?
The game? Amazing and smooth if you watch my latest video. I think we got it squared away now.
