The Pokemon Card Market has seen some pretty massive growth over the past couple of months both in Sealed Pokemon Cards and Single Pokemon Cards. With Alternate Art Pokemon Cards exploding in price and Sword and Shield era booster boxes going out of stock on the Pokemon Center Website, we have seen cards and booster boxes over double in price in many different areas.
However, it doesn't seem like it is just Alternate Art Pokemon Cards having huge impacts on the Pokemon Card market. A select group of Trainer Gallery Pokemon cards have also seen some explosive price growth over the past couple of months that doesn't seem to be entirely organic. Will we see other Trainer Gallery Pokemon Cards follow suit? Let's talk about it!

Starmie V TG card is probably my favorite Trainer Gallery card
I saw this coming from a mile away and completed the SwSh Trainer Gallery by January of this year. So many of these cards I got for like under $10 that are now like 30 $40 cards it's crazy... I love it though!
A lot of Crown Zenith Galarian Gallery is also doing well from what I'm seeing. I think they're up there with the TGs 💪
Starmie V with Misty in the Pool, Chilling. Best Artwork and meaning to Astral Radiance!, along with other amazing arworks in all the 30 Card Sets. This is my personal favourite to finished of the Sword and Shields era...
Yea. In terms of under $50 card in the SWSH era that has an ability to skyrocket, this Misty Starmie V card has the biggest boom potential.
Umbreon V TG is already over $42! It’s been going crazy!
I can assume it's also due to people turning to that card. Its pretty much discount Moonbreon since the one in Evolving Skies is becoming more and more unaffordable.
I bought mine for $18 under a month ago.
@stevencsb yeah I got a cgc 10 umbreon V & a raw umbreon VMAX at a local shop like a month or two ago and I'm glad I snagged em while the prices were good

Yeah its been crazy trying to fill my sons binder with Alt arts since December. I was able to be ahead of the curve on many cards but all of a sudden its gotten out of hand since like the beginning of March.
Yah, i have recently noticed that prices are going higher in the past couple of weeks. Thought it was strange timing, given our economy.
Maybe because some RUclipsrs hyping them to cash in? ;)

I buy my own cards with a different amount from my TCG store at high prices to manipulate the prices. Dozens of people do this so that it creates FOMO

The Trainer gallery cards look great, but I would have thought they were printed enough to keep the prices down (although their hit rates might actually be lower than SIR's from S&V sets).
i just opened a bpx of lost origin and didnt pull too good so i lost most of my money but was fun to open. People need to buy the singles if you are smart because these cards are not easy to pull and i didnt even pull the card at 16:54... just an example so be smart people if u have money to spend even though ripping is fun but be very careful its risky... 😭
I thought the TG Umbreon could hit 50 in 2-3 years, but with the alt arts shooting up, and boxes going out of stock it makes sense that its going up. Someone predicted it will be a 100 dollar card before this price increase. I can understand why. If a raw Moonbreon is almost 1000, Umbreon V is 200, then the next best Umbreon cards are the two trainer gallery cards. I can see them being 75 and 100 for the pair. I actually went out of my way to get the Sylveon's a few weeks ago. Paid 30 for the pair, now its double that. Any popular pokemon with an alt art or TG card is an easy buy. IMO its only going to go up, since box prices are going to go up.
I think the floor is lower than anything we've seen thus far because assuming we've seen the "floor" for these cards also assumes we were operating in a fundamentally healthy economy overall for the past 3-4 years, and I believe no market in US history is further from healthy or has BEEN further from healthy. I think we're guaranteed to see a price crash at some point now that salaried workers are losing their good-paying jobs by the hundreds of thousands per month and the only job growth in the US keeping the unemployment rate from skyrocketing well past 5% is part time low-wage jobs that people need 2-3 of just to pay the 60% hike in insurance and property taxes they got blindsided by.
The october/November dips could be because of Black Friday, where people get all the best deals and open a tons.

Wow, I'm so glad I picked up a PSA 10 of the discount Moonbreon for $60! I had a feeling it was going to skyrocket, especially since it's probably from people not being able to get the one from Evolving Skies!😳

I have the Pikachu V with Red. I remember pulling that and taking me back to my childhood when I got Pokemon Yellow. I'm happy that it's performing well. Now I'm old AF. I need to figure this grading thing out.

I have been trying to complete the trainer galleries for the last few years (much more affordable then master sets). Luckily I am only missing 1 more card (Mimikyu V).
hell the all time high for the misty starmie card was 80. sold it for 78.99 like two months after set
Well in my opinion there has been a huge influx of people coming into the hobby and still and a ton of interest in swsh, obviously when products start getting harder to find and people want to complete sets or get some of the best artwork produced then prices will go up

A good part of the price growth is boxed gg all the cards are big hitters that people cash in so the demand increases and the price

@@PkMkPresto487 there’s is possibly fake but many of those auctions start at $1 and go by pretty quickly. I’ve missed out in some great auctions that other people got because I wasn’t paying attention so it’s possible

Before they went out of stock I bought a Booster box of most of sword and shield with the intention of opening them. Now with the prices skyrocketing I almost can't justify opening them

i could be wrong but i dont think its just market manipulation. i bet on these cards along time ago were going to go sky high. as soon as i saw how expensive the moonbreon got and how unattainable it was out of the bag, i knew the cards below it would rise. because they were at a price the regular collector could buy at. i have a rayquaza v from vstar went from 2c to $10.50. i didnt expect that much but i guess thats a sky high price.
in this cost of living and housing crisis we are all in there was no way the regualr collector was spening $1k plus on card it was always going to be the cheaper cards that would be bought up at such a reasonable price & they're still poploir pokemon and great art.

Personally I think it’s about supply and demand. People slept on the trainer galleries for a very long time. There now just starting to see the value behind them and the art work. They are basically baby alt arts.

I just bought a magikarp triplet beat at a pristine 10 thinking it was the best grade then I found out is not there a perfect 10 for cgc I try finding the value but I can’t understand the site to much I want to know if I over pay at 130 for a pristine 10 any can help me😢

I completed my S&M and Sw&Sh alt/tg/gg collection recently and I'm considering going back and getting some pre-S&M cards. I need to finish my 151 collection first though. Haha 😅

It's a temporary boom while all the investors go into a full-blown panic because SV isn't giving them the short-term gains that they hoped for. Now we have a weird pump-and-dump situation coupled with FOMO from actual collectors that's driving all these prices up. Exactly the same thing happened just a few months back with Sun and Moon. Only those sets had been out of stock for ages whereas there is still plenty of sealed SWSH stock out there.

Lets be honest, do u want your collection to increase in value or decrease? Everybody wants it cheap when they are buying..thats just human, also, for people who open packs at msrp...i'm happy to see the cards rise in value...cause opening packs aint cheap
