I believe the baby that Butcher 'used' as a weapon was Stillwell's baby, who of course shot blue beams from its eyes instead of red. My guess would be that it was created as an 'anti'-Homelander, to counteract him if needed. It would also make perfect sense regarding the story considering they realized their mistake of raising Homelander without a mother, so Stillwell was raising it as her own, (whether or not she had actually given birth to it is unclear because they do make a quick reference to her not producing much milk to feed it.) Hopefully they will continue that in Season 2, and if it wasn't intentional, it should be!
Agreed, I found him slipping into his more native Australian was a little grating at times but I still liked the character. Some of his dialogue was hilarious.
I'm 14 and adored this show. Thought alot was left unanswered and there were alot of crude scenes, yet it still felt balanced and a great twist on the superhero genre
Everything I didn't like in the series is nitpicking honestly. This is one of the standouts this year. Great tv series, I can't wait for season 2. Thanks, Grace.
I LOVE this show! So much so I binged it in one sitting. The vfx were soooo good, especially when Homelander uses his laser vision. I do wish, however, more of the heroes flew like they do in the comic. Homelander being the only one was slightly upsetting. Also, if Starlight wasn't in this show as your typical goody goody Super, I don't know if I would have stayed watching, only because i don't like the idea of ALL super powered people being a**holes. And I like the grey area the Boys (both the show and the group) themselves operate in. Edit: I was also side eyeing Homelander so hard during that plane sequence. His reasoning was less than convincing, and even if he couldn't save all of them by flying back and forth I'm pretty sure he could have saved a huge chunk of them. And your right Grace, I've seen Superman do it 1000 times over. Which still would have gotten them the good press they wanted.
On the Plane bit in the comic is actually was 9/11 so that's why they tied it a bit as far as symbolism goes in the show. And I'm happy Starlight is an actual character here compared to the comic.
Female has a name. Kimiko (from Japanese 貴 (ki) meaning "valuable" with 美 (mi) meaning "beautiful" or 君 (kimi) meaning "lord, noble" combined with 子 (ko) meaning "child").

Finally finished The Boys, it lived up to the hype. Great show. I think if this series was on Netflix or HBO it would get more attention but for Amazon many people that I know have watched it. what the superhero genre needed, more gritty and mature writing. Too bad our Marvel heroes will never get this raw bcuz of Disney’s PG 13 rule.
Good series.. but that airplane scene. Feels like Capt America and Superman are about to be replaced by Homelander and All Might...at least in fandom; mainstream is another issue.
Homelander is a standout character of the year. That actor was deserves to win some critical acclaim. I could watch whole series on each of the seven. Even a Vought series could be amazing.

The show was pretty good 8/10. Great acting. But you can tell there was Network interference in place. They played down and censored a lot of the graphic sexual stuff from the comics. If they had gone there, the show would have gotten more attention.
I just started watching the Boys during the pandemic. Very gripping. But, Starlight is a great character(well acted) by Erin Moriarty and her first costume reminded me of She-ra.

Nah they probably all have it, they just don't watch Videos on the service..I have to Constantly remind people that you can even watch videos if you have Prime. Its always Do you have PRIME? SURE I do..well Ok you get it free with the subscription! and they Go Oh Yeah?
But comic fans love the Tick.
I gotta say, im not easily disturbed, but the gills on The Deep was truly disgusting.
Yeah Kind Of. But they were trying to make it as realistic as possible. Personally I'm not sure if it was actually disgusting or just plainly cool.
@@chopsuey.6562 I was genuinely grossed out by the girl playing with his gills.
@@endymionSTATION Yeah......that was totally gross. I keep remembering that scene & cringe so much, it was truly disturbing.🤦♂️
Show is so so good. But like even on my firestick it was barely advertised. I was told by a friend to watch
I kinda almost feel guilty that HOMELANDER is my favorite Soop
If you never peeped the Actor Antony Starr who plays Homelander in Cinemax's BANSHEE. Please do. He is AWESOME and so is the show BANSHEE.
Its like feeling guilty for liking kevin spacy's character in house of cards....
It's amazon's fault for not pushing their shows, big time.
Just to pick a small nit... there IS water near Sandusky, Ohio. It's right on Lake Erie.
Gary N. Mengle That's not small. They even mentioned it on the show. So she wasn't paying attention AND is bad with geography
The actress that played Starlight was awesome.
My first thought when I saw Starlight vomiting in the last episode, is that she's pregnant with Hughie's kid....and all that implies.
Billys accent was NOT british, loved the show though.
Agreed, I found him slipping into his more native Australian was a little grating at times but I still liked the character. Some of his dialogue was hilarious.
He is from New Zealand
You are right Nicolas, my bad. He was born in Wellington, now lives in Auckland.
I was surprised how much i liked jack Quad as an actor and Karl Urban was hilarious especially his awesome pop culture references.
i really liked Starlight...she was actually my favorite character
The show is amazing, Amazon needs to know how to market it!
24:04 then why not just use her name? They say it in the show, it's Kimiko.
I completely disagree about Starlight and A-train both are my favorites in the show! Everything else I agree with.
Starlight was the best! Love her such an amazing character and very likeable unlike the other six...
Wonder if they're going to change who Black Noir really is... my guess is yes
What!??? Annie was quite likeable to me.
My Favorite Characters
1. Mother's Milk
2. Frenchie
3. Annie / Starlight
4. Hughie
5. Billy
6. Homelander
7. Maeve
8. Stormfront
9. Kimiko
10. A-Train & The Deep (tied)
It is kinda depressing to see that its not generating that much BUZZ in India too...
IT IS JUST SOOO GOOD !!!
Can’t wait for season 2 ...... 🥳
Fantastic series!!! Jack Quad, Karl Urban and Anthony Star were revelations but everyone was great truly!
Really? Starlight carried the scenes with Hughie for me.
Frenchie is french! he say he lived in Marseille (and is called FRENCHIE!)
Nice combo of veterans and relative newcomers on the cast. Shue’s best character since Piranha 3D and Urban’s best since Dredd.
I really enjoyed this review. I think working from your bullet points instead of full notes was actually a plus. You may want to consider keeping this format!
It may be a slow burn like GOT It didn’t become a national hit until late second season/third season
Sandusky is on the shore of Lake Erie, the joke is that he's been sent to such a small city, the is a Sea World close by, or at least there used to be
Homelander was defo a combo of superman captain America but also mixed with suge knight 😂
7:52 in the comics, the scene with the plane originally was a botched attempt to prevent 9/11.
LOVED this show. BRILLIANT. Heartbroken that more people aren't watching this.
Homelander is a standout character of the year. That actor was deserves to win some critical acclaim.
I could watch whole series on each of the seven. Even a Vought series could be amazing.
OMG! Is Erin Moriarty gonna be the next Jessica Chastain?
Whooaa, Nellie!!
Ya can't pick up on Simon Pegg's 'over-the-top' New York accent and ignore Karl Urban's Aussie/ Cockney mish-mash, Grace!!
Should have just let the character be an Oz if he couldn't do Cockney!!
LOL!!!
The whole damn time I'm like is the character a Brit bc Urban sounds Aussie af lol
Bentley Blandino I’m British and I really did think he was Australian and still am confused. They are so different but he just switched mid sentence.!
Haha I actually thought he was Australian/New Zealander till they mentioned on the show that he was supposed to be English.
Loved the show, I disagree with your take on A-train & Star light, I found both characters compelling. I had a hope that it's revealed that Black Noir is actually a woman in season two but after a quick search I see that the character is played by a man.
Black Noir's reveal is probably going to be the climax of season 2.
OK, I ended up watching this review months ago and again just now. Great show and Great review. I felt the 2 standouts were Karl Urban (who is always good) and Antony Starr (yes, you can understand how a character got to be how they are And also find them terrifying). I loved the facial ticks that Homelander sometimes showed.
