Your video on camping around Cuenca comes just in time. I am from Texas and lived also and the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Oregon for five years because I love hiking and camping. I’ve been living in Playa del Carmen Mexico for the past year and two months and although I love the beach I miss my mountains for us and flora. Just yesterday I was searching for good camping and hiking near Cuenca. Thank you so much for this amazing video and so glad I found your channel. Only four weeks to go until I land in Cuenca. ❤
We love hiking and camping too. We just moved my dad to Northern Idaho and it's gorgeous there. We fell in love with the beauty of all the mountains and snow ❄ The drive from AZ to Idaho was absolutely beautiful 😍.
@@ericandsandy I know what you mean I’ve made that drive a couple of times going from Texas to Salem Oregon where I lived for five years before coming to Mexico. I actually camped the entire way and my last camping spot was in Idaho 😍 I know your dad will love it there and you will get to visit.
We love road trips...our trip from SC to AZ we camped all the way through...had our dog and pot belly pig...the most beautiful state park we camped at was in Oklahoma (didn't see that one coming)..Lake Eufaula. Absolutely gorgeous. Too bad it was only one night.

Wow, such a beautiful and tranquilo place. It looks so peaceful and not too far from Cuenca. I can imagine going there monthly, just to unwind and have some peace and quiet in nature. The food looked amazing. It was so nice that they made vegan meals for Sandy. I’m glad to hear that they can accommodate us vegans! And the hot springs! What a great adventure you guys are having. We can’t wait to get there and start having fun too! Thanks for sharing and you both are interesting, funny and doing a great job showing us all the wonderful things that Ecuador has to offer.

@@ericandsandy thanks for your reply. I was wondering, do they have only one cabin? If so, we might be fighting over it! We are getting so many great ideas from you guys of places to go, things to see and yummy food to eat. We have to keep delaying our departure due to animal issues and my surgery. We will be there in November and can’t wait to finally live there.
They only have one...but they are building another right next to it.. it should be done by the end of this month. So no worries on when you get out here. Good luck on your surgery..praying everything goes smoothly and a speedy recovery. I understand on the animal situation. Thanks again for all the nice compliments and safe travels my friends.

I love this area...very similar to the Dolomites in Italy where I lived for almost a year...and the hot springs are almost like some of the ones I've visited in the Azores...Moving to Ecuador will "just" be like bringing all my most beautiful places into one and, I almost can't wait 😊
And, the A-shaped tiny house is almost like the one I hope so much I can find - if I do, I don't think I'll ever leave - like living a childhood dream 🤗 Acces to wi-fi, a dog, an iguana, bananas and food and, I' ll be just fine.....

Like you, I need and love living in cities but, at the same time there is the need and want for the wild country side.
I loved living in the Dolomites, although I missed the ocean which I've had close all my life (Denmark, Norway, Ireland) and, I know same will happen in Ecuador but, don't think the ocean in Ecuador is the best there...let's see...we never know what happen tomorrow but, as I've promised myself since I, as a teenager, researched and, wrote an essay about the Amazonas and the indigenous people, I promised myself I'll move closer to them, as I really, really want to get to know them and, hopefully learn some of their knowledge which I admire to bits and by now, it seems I am hopefully coming closer to reach this goal of mine..🤗💓

the mushroom sausages look like they'd be yummy. all the food looked really good. fishin part was cool and the cajas with the wild horses is really beautiful.
The sausages were so good, you would have liked them. I think you would have liked all the food there...so delicious. The wild horse with her baby was such a cool experience, can't believe we got to encounter that.

This is my fav video so far. That wild horse was so amazing and beautiful. Every meal you both had looked so good I needed to lick my screen. The river was perfect...should have brought a gold pan. Stop filling up my bucket list.

Sitting outside on the terrace was such a delight, you can hear the river, the birds and the animals. It was so relaxing and peaceful. We can't wait to get back and experience everything Estancia Buganey has to offer. This place should be on everyone's bucket list...it's a definite.

Yep...Eric fished the river in the video and caught a little trout. Catch and release. That place was so peaceful...it's amazing how when you get there you can feel all of the stress just leave your body. Thanks again for watching.
Finally watched the whole thing ! 😁👍 I've been watching the video in parts this last few days, such beautiful shots of nature! I think we're really blessed to be in the middle of all these great places, we just don't take advantage of it as we should. Finding those wild horses was soo cool too!! I did a 3 day hike across the cajas and we never found any wild horses like that, really lucky on your part 😁👍. All the food looked great too! Another awesome video! I understand why it's so long now, there were lots and lots to show 👍

Super tranquilo, thanks! We enjoyed a day hike in the Cajas when we visited and hope to do it again. Since you like chocolate, we can recommend a tour of Industrial Fatima chocolate factory in walking distance from downtown Cuenca. The production methods are a fascinating leap back in time and the tour is in Spanish but you'll get it. They make and sell 100% cacao. Hershey's it isn't, thankfully!

@@ericandsandy Randy & I have been coming to Ecuador on long 40 day holidays for the last two years. We have made some really great friends there is Cuenca, they also came & stayed with us here is Doha, Qatar for the World Cup last Nov. We are retiring leave our last overseas contract,we have been expats for 32 years & traveled the world it's a little scary actually, & feeling we can't fit in the "American" ways. We have already rented a place for the first 6 months starting Nov. 1st, but we are super excited for our next chapter. Can't wait to check out Estancia Buganey. Thanks for the great video. The Glamper's Petting Zoo and Hiking Sanctuary. That view from the lookout reminded me of Switzerland/France, but without the pointy mountain tops. Nice angling, especially since it wasn't a fly rod. Did the hotel provide the gear? With a long enough pole you could have fished while sitting in the hot springs!😂 Too bad YT wouldn't allow you to play the Stones' Wild Horses.

Hey Jack! Yeah they provided the fishing gear. And we had some better tackle for the lagunas that I could actually cast really well. There were a few good looking areas to fish around the thermal pools. We loved that place. The owner Freddie is a great guy. He even gave us a ride back to Buganey afterwards.

We'll be going back for sure. It was fun getting my sneak on, but yeah I didn't want to mess with the horses too much. It was a really cool encounter. Those types of unexpected experiences are one of my favorite things about getting in the outdoors. But maybe one day I'll be able to afford a big boy telescopic lense and can just say up on the hill 😅😁

So cool to see someone catching a fish in Ecuador 😍😎, we're also avid fishermen but we're moving anyway. We were fishing for muskies a lot but also bass and trout. If this was 30 min. Commute from town could you live here?
Yes and no. It's beautiful.. very beautiful. You would have to get a taxi to go everywhere.. what if you needed to go to the hospital asap. Yes for a weekend home... no for the long haul. We didn't want a car.. we wanted to live in a walkable city. Hope that answers your question
I hate camping !! But this looks like a fair good option !!
It was so much better than sleeping on the ground in a tent...and hot meals in a restaurant. What more could you want ?? Did we say how comfortable the bed was...we slept like babies.

I fished every day of my life till I hit 45. I held on to all my gear and one day hope to get into it again.( Bad Back )
I got rid of so much fishing gear before our move. Most of it I donated to a Fondation for taking kids fishing. Some I gave to family. But my best fishing buddy is holding on to a few of my best rod and reels for when I visit back in SC. Now I have to live vicariously through Bassmasters on RUclips 😅😁
