  • I barely remember this courtroom “dramedy.” “Just Legal” premiered on The WB on September 19, 2005. It starred Don Johnson (post-“Miami Vice,” post-“Nash Bridges”) as Grant H. Cooper, an alcoholic, cynical, and middle-aged lawyer in Santa Monica, California, “who has made one too many bad choices in his career, leaving him a jaded court-appointed attorney, rejected by his peers,” to quote from Wikipedia. Jay Baruchel played David “Skip” Ross, a 19-year-old legal genius who, despite having graduated at the top of his law school class, found it difficult to find employment-and therefore wound up working in Cooper’s office.
Eight episodes of “Just Legal” were shot. Only three had been shown by the time the series was cancelled on October 3, 2005. The remaining five were finally broadcast on The WB in August 2006.
